تكوين - Genesis 20 - Kejadian 20

وَانْتَقَلَ ابْرَاهِيمُ مِنْ هُنَاكَ الَى ارْضِ الْجَنُوبِ وَسَكَنَ بَيْنَ قَادِشَ وَشُورَ وَتَغَرَّبَ فِي جَرَارَ. وَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ عَنْ سَارَةَ امْرَاتِهِ:

«هِيَ اخْتِي». فَارْسَلَ ابِيمَالِكُ مَلِكُ جَرَارَ وَاخَذَ سَارَةَ. فَجَاءَ اللهُ الَى ابِيمَالِكَ فِي حُلْمِ اللَّيْلِ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «هَا انْتَ مَيِّتٌ مِنْ

اجْلِ الْمَرْاةِ الَّتِي اخَذْتَهَا فَانَّهَا مُتَزَوِّجَةٌ بِبَعْلٍ». وَلَكِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ ابِيمَالِكُ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ الَيْهَا. فَقَالَ: «يَا سَيِّدُ اامَّةً بَارَّةً تَقْتُلُ؟ الَمْ

يَقُلْ هُوَ لِي انَّهَا اخْتِي وَهِيَ ايْضا نَفْسُهَا قَالَتْ هُوَ اخِي؟ بِسَلامَةِ قَلْبِي وَنَقَاوَةِ يَدَيَّ فَعَلْتُ هَذَا». فَقَالَ لَهُ اللهُ فِي الْحُلْمِ: «انَا

ايْضا عَلِمْتُ انَّكَ بِسَلامَةِ قَلْبِكَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا. وَانَا ايْضا امْسَكْتُكَ عَنْ انْ تُخْطِئَ الَيَّ لِذَلِكَ لَمْ ادَعْكَ تَمَسُّهَا. فَالْانَ رُدَّ امْرَاةَ

الرَّجُلِ فَانَّهُ نَبِيٌّ فَيُصَلِّيَ لاجْلِكَ فَتَحْيَا. وَانْ كُنْتَ لَسْتَ تَرُدُّهَا فَاعْلَمْ انَّكَ مَوْتا تَمُوتُ انْتَ وَكُلُّ مَنْ لَكَ». فَبَكَّرَ ابِيمَالِكُ فِي

الْغَدِ وَدَعَا جَمِيعَ عَبِيدِهِ وَتَكَلَّمَ بِكُلِّ هَذَا الْكَلامِ فِي مَسَامِعِهِمْ. فَخَافَ الرِّجَالُ جِدّا. ثُمَّ دَعَا ابِيمَالِكُ ابْرَاهِيمَ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «مَاذَا

فَعَلْتَ بِنَا وَبِمَاذَا اخْطَاتُ الَيْكَ حَتَّى جَلَبْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى مَمْلَكَتِي خَطِيَّةً عَظِيمَةً؟ اعْمَالا لا تُعْمَلُ عَمِلْتَ بِي!». وَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ

لابْرَاهِيمَ: «مَاذَا رَايْتَ حَتَّى عَمِلْتَ هَذَا الشَّيْءَ؟» فَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ: «انِّي قُلْتُ: لَيْسَ فِي هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ خَوْفُ اللهِ الْبَتَّةَ

فَيَقْتُلُونَنِي لاجْلِ امْرَاتِي. وَبِالْحَقِيقَةِ ايْضا هِيَ اخْتِي ابْنَةُ ابِي غَيْرَ انَّهَا لَيْسَتِ ابْنَةَ امِّي فَصَارَتْ لِي زَوْجَةً. وَحَدَثَ لَمَّا

اتَاهَنِي اللهُ مِنْ بَيْتِ ابِي انِّي قُلْتُ لَهَا: هَذَا مَعْرُوفُكِ الَّذِي تَصْنَعِينَ الَيَّ: فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ نَاتِي الَيْهِ قُولِي عَنِّي هُوَ اخِي».

فَاخَذَ ابِيمَالِكُ غَنَما وَبَقَرا وَعَبِيدا وَامَاءً وَاعْطَاهَا لابْرَاهِيمَ وَرَدَّ الَيْهِ سَارَةَ امْرَاتَهُ. وَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ: «هُوَذَا ارْضِي قُدَّامَكَ.

اسْكُنْ فِي مَا حَسُنَ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ». وَقَالَ لِسَارَةَ: «انِّي قَدْ اعْطَيْتُ اخَاكِ الْفا مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ. هَا هُوَ لَكِ غِطَاءُ عَيْنٍ مِنْ جِهَةِ كُلِّ

مَا عِنْدَكِ وَعِنْدَ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ فَانْصِفْتِ». فَصَلَّى ابْرَاهِيمُ الَى اللهِ فَشَفَى اللهُ ابِيمَالِكَ وَامْرَاتَهُ وَجَوَارِيَهُ فَوَلَدْنَ - لانَّ الرَّبَّ كَانَ

قَدْ اغْلَقَ كُلَّ رَحِمٍ لِبَيْتِ ابِيمَالِكَ بِسَبَبِ سَارَةَ امْرَاةِ ابْرَاهِيمَ.

Genesis 20

And Abraham journeyed from there to the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, "She is my sister." And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, "Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife." But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, "Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? Did he not say to me, 'She is my sister'? And she, even she herself said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this." And God said to him in a dream, "Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. Now therefore, restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours."

So Abimelech rose early in the morning, called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were very much afraid. And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done." Then Abimelech said to Abraham, "What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?" And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife. But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is your kindness that you should do for me: in every place, wherever we go, say of me, "He is my brother." ' "

Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him. And Abimelech said, "See, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you." Then to Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and before everybody." Thus she was rebuked. So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.

Kejadian 20

1 Lalu Abraham berangkat dari situ ke Tanah Negeb dan ia menetap antara Kadesh dan Syur. Ia tinggal di Gerar sebagai orang asing.

2 Oleh karena Abraham telah mengatakan tentang Sara, isterinya: ''Dia saudaraku,'' maka Abimelekh, raja Gerar, menyuruh mengambil Sara.

3 Tetapi pada waktu malam Allah datang kepada Abimelekh dalam suatu mimpi serta berfirman kepadanya: ''Engkau harus mati oleh karena perempuan yang telah kauambil itu; sebab ia sudah bersuami.''

4 Adapun Abimelekh belum menghampiri Sara. Berkatalah ia: ''Tuhan! Apakah Engkau membunuh bangsa yang tak bersalah?

5 Bukankah orang itu sendiri mengatakan kepadaku: Dia saudaraku? Dan perempuan itu sendiri telah mengatakan: Ia saudaraku. Jadi hal ini kulakukan dengan hati yang tulus dan dengan tangan yang suci.''

6 Lalu berfirmanlah Allah kepadanya dalam mimpi: ''Aku tahu juga, bahwa engkau telah melakukan hal itu dengan hati yang tulus, maka Aku pun telah mencegah engkau untuk berbuat dosa terhadap Aku; sebab itu Aku tidak membiarkan engkau menjamah dia.

7 Jadi sekarang, kembalikanlah isteri orang itu, sebab dia seorang nabi; ia akan berdoa untuk engkau, maka engkau tetap hidup; tetapi jika engkau tidak mengembalikan dia, ketahuilah, engkau pasti mati, engkau dan semua orang yang bersama-sama dengan engkau.''

8 Keesokan harinya pagi-pagi Abimelekh memanggil semua hambanya dan memberitahukan seluruh peristiwa itu kepada mereka, lalu sangat takutlah orang-orang itu.

9 Kemudian Abimelekh memanggil Abraham dan berkata kepadanya: ''Perbuatan apakah yang kaulakukan ini terhadap kami, dan kesalahan apakah yang kulakukan terhadap engkau, sehingga engkau mendatangkan dosa besar atas diriku dan kerajaanku? Engkau telah berbuat hal-hal yang tidak patut kepadaku.''

10 Lagi kata Abimelekh kepada Abraham: ''Apakah maksudmu, maka engkau melakukan hal ini?''

11 Lalu Abraham berkata: ''Aku berpikir: Takut akan Allah tidak ada di tempat ini; tentulah aku akan dibunuh karena isteriku.

12 Lagipula ia benar-benar saudaraku, anak ayahku, hanya bukan anak ibuku, tetapi kemudian ia menjadi isteriku.

13 Ketika Allah menyuruh aku mengembara keluar dari rumah ayahku, berkatalah aku kepada isteriku: Tunjukkanlah kasihmu kepadaku, yakni: katakanlah tentang aku di tiap-tiap tempat di mana kita tiba: Ia saudaraku.''

14 Kemudian Abimelekh mengambil kambing domba dan lembu sapi, hamba laki-laki dan perempuan, lalu memberikan semuanya itu kepada Abraham; Sara, isteri Abraham, juga dikembalikannya kepadanya.

15 Dan Abimelekh berkata: ''Negeriku ini terbuka untuk engkau; menetaplah, di mana engkau suka.''

16 Lalu katanya kepada Sara: ''Telah kuberikan kepada saudaramu seribu syikal perak, itulah bukti kesucianmu bagi semua orang yang bersama-sama dengan engkau. Maka dalam segala hal engkau dibenarkan.''

17 Lalu Abraham berdoa kepada Allah, dan Allah menyembuhkan Abimelekh dan isterinya dan budak-budaknya perempuan, sehingga mereka melahirkan anak.

18 Sebab tadinya TUHAN telah menutup kandungan setiap perempuan di istana Abimelekh karena Sara, isteri Abraham itu.

فَجَاءَ الْمَلاكَانِ الَى سَدُومَ مَسَاءً وَكَانَ لُوطٌ جَالِسا فِي بَابِ سَدُومَ. فَلَمَّا رَاهُمَا لُوطٌ قَامَ لِاسْتِقْبَالِهِمَا وَسَجَدَ بِوَجْهِهِ الَى

الارْضِ. وَقَالَ: «يَا سَيِّدَيَّ مِيلا الَى بَيْتِ عَبْدِكُمَا وَبِيتَا وَاغْسِلا ارْجُلَكُمَا ثُمَّ تُبَكِّرَانِ وَتَذْهَبَانِ فِي طَرِيقِكُمَا». فَقَالا: «لا بَلْ

فِي السَّاحَةِ نَبِيتُ». فَالَحَّ عَلَيْهِمَا جِدّا فَمَالا الَيْهِ وَدَخَلا بَيْتَهُ فَصَنَعَ لَهُمَا ضِيَافَةً وَخَبَزَ فَطِيرا فَاكَلا. وَقَبْلَمَا اضْطَجَعَا احَاطَ

بِالْبَيْتِ رِجَالُ الْمَدِينَةِ رِجَالُ سَدُومَ مِنَ الْحَدَثِ الَى الشَّيْخِ كُلُّ الشَّعْبِ مِنْ اقْصَاهَا. فَنَادُوا لُوطا وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «ايْنَ الرَّجُلانِ

اللَّذَانِ دَخَلا الَيْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ؟ اخْرِجْهُمَا الَيْنَا لِنَعْرِفَهُمَا». فَخَرَجَ الَيْهِمْ لُوطٌ الَى الْبَابِ وَاغْلَقَ الْبَابَ وَرَاءَهُ وَقَالَ: «لا تَفْعَلُوا

شَرّا يَا اخْوَتِي. هُوَذَا لِي ابْنَتَانِ لَمْ تَعْرِفَا رَجُلا. اخْرِجُهُمَا الَيْكُمْ فَافْعَلُوا بِهِمَا كَمَا يَحْسُنُ فِي عُيُونِكُمْ. وَامَّا هَذَانِ الرَّجُلانِ

فَلا تَفْعَلُوا بِهِمَا شَيْئا لانَّهُمَا قَدْ دَخَلا تَحْتَ ظِلِّ سَقْفِي». فَقَالُوا: «ابْعُدْ الَى هُنَاكَ». ثُمَّ قَالُوا: «جَاءَ هَذَا الانْسَانُ لِيَتَغَرَّبَ

وَهُوَ يَحْكُمُ حُكْما. الْانَ نَفْعَلُ بِكَ شَرّا اكْثَرَ مِنْهُمَا». فَالَحُّوا عَلَى لُوطٍ جِدّا وَتَقَدَّمُوا لِيُكَسِّرُوا الْبَابَ فَمَدَّ الرَّجُلانِ ايْدِيَهُمَا

وَادْخَلا لُوطا الَيْهِمَا الَى الْبَيْتِ وَاغْلَقَا الْبَابَ. وَامَّا الرِّجَالُ الَّذِينَ عَلَى بَابِ الْبَيْتِ فَضَرَبَاهُمْ بِالْعَمَى مِنَ الصَّغِيرِ الَى

الْكَبِيرِ فَعَجِزُوا عَنْ انْ يَجِدُوا الْبَابَ. وَقَالَ الرَّجُلانِ لِلُوطٍ: «مَنْ لَكَ ايْضا هَهُنَا؟ اصْهَارَكَ وَبَنِيكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَكُلَّ مَنْ لَكَ فِي

الْمَدِينَةِ اخْرِجْ مِنَ الْمَكَانِ لانَّنَا مُهْلِكَانِ هَذَا الْمَكَانَ اذْ قَدْ عَظُمَ صُرَاخُهُمْ امَامَ الرَّبِّ فَارْسَلَنَا الرَّبُّ لِنُهْلِكَهُ». فَخَرَجَ لُوطٌ

وَكَلَّمَ اصْهَارَهُ الْاخِذِينَ بَنَاتِهِ وَقَالَ: «قُومُوا اخْرُجُوا مِنْ هَذَا الْمَكَانِ لانَّ الرَّبَّ مُهْلِكٌ الْمَدِينَةَ». فَكَانَ كَمَازِحٍ فِي اعْيُنِ

اصْهَارِهِ. وَلَمَّا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ كَانَ الْمَلاكَانِ يُعَجِّلانِ لُوطا قَائِلَيْنِ: «قُمْ خُذِ امْرَاتَكَ وَابْنَتَيْكَ الْمَوْجُودَتَيْنِ لِئَلَّا تَهْلَِكَ بِاثْمِ

الْمَدِينَةِ». وَلَمَّا تَوَانَى امْسَكَ الرَّجُلانِ بِيَدِهِ وَبِيَدِ امْرَاتِهِ وَبِيَدِ ابْنَتَيْهِ - لِشَفَقَةِ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْهِ - وَاخْرَجَاهُ وَوَضَعَاهُ خَارِجَ الْمَدِينَةِ.

وَكَانَ لَمَّا اخْرَجَاهُمْ الَى خَارِجٍ انَّهُ قَالَ: «اهْرُبْ لِحَيَاتِكَ. لا تَنْظُرْ الَى وَرَائِكَ وَلا تَقِفْ فِي كُلِّ الدَّائِرَةِ. اهْرُبْ الَى الْجَبَلِ

لِئَلَّا تَهْلَِكَ». فَقَالَ لَهُمَا لُوطٌ: «لا يَا سَيِّدُ. هُوَذَا عَبْدُكَ قَدْ وَجَدَ نِعْمَةً فِي عَيْنَيْكَ وَعَظَّمْتَ لُطْفَكَ الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ الَيَّ بِاسْتِبْقَاءِ

نَفْسِي وَانَا لا اقْدِرُ انْ اهْرُبَ الَى الْجَبَلِ لَعَلَّ الشَّرَّ يُدْرِكُنِي فَامُوتَ. هُوَذَا الْمَدِينَةُ هَذِهِ قَرِيبَةٌ لِلْهَرَبِ الَيْهَا وَهِيَ صَغِيرَةٌ.

اهْرُبُ الَى هُنَاكَ. (الَيْسَتْ هِيَ صَغِيرَةً؟) فَتَحْيَا نَفْسِي». فَقَالَ لَهُ: «انِّي قَدْ رَفَعْتُ وَجْهَكَ فِي هَذَا الامْرِ ايْضا انْ لا اقْلِبَ

الْمَدِينَةَ الَّتِي تَكَلَّمْتَ عَنْهَا. اسْرِعِ اهْرُبْ الَى هُنَاكَ لانِّي لا اسْتَطِيعُ انْ افْعَلَ شَيْئا حَتَّى تَجِيءَ الَى هُنَاكَ». لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَ اسْمُ

الْمَدِينَةِ «صُوغَرَ». وَاذْ اشْرَقَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى الارْضِ دَخَلَ لُوطٌ الَى صُوغَرَ فَامْطَرَ الرَّبُّ عَلَى سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ كِبْرِيتا

وَنَارا مِنْ عِنْدِ الرَّبِّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ. وَقَلَبَ تِلْكَ الْمُدُنَ وَكُلَّ الدَّائِرَةِ وَجَمِيعَ سُكَّانِ الْمُدُنِ وَنَبَاتَِ الارْضِ. وَنَظَرَتِ امْرَاتُهُ مِنْ

وَرَائِهِ فَصَارَتْ عَمُودَ مِلْحٍ! وَبَكَّرَ ابْرَاهِيمُ فِي الْغَدِ الَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي وَقَفَ فِيهِ امَامَ الرَّبِّ وَتَطَلَّعَ نَحْوَ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَنَحْوَ

كُلِّ ارْضِ الدَّائِرَةِ وَنَظَرَ وَاذَا دُخَانُ الارْضِ يَصْعَدُ كَدُخَانِ الاتُونِ. وَحَدَثَ لَمَّا اخْرَبَ اللهُ مُدُنَ الدَّائِرَةِ انَّ اللهَ ذَكَرَ ابْرَاهِيمَ

وَارْسَلَ لُوطا مِنْ وَسَطِ الِانْقِلابِ. حِينَ قَلَبَ الْمُدُنَ الَّتِي سَكَنَ فِيهَا لُوطٌ. وَصَعِدَ لُوطٌ مِنْ صُوغَرَ وَسَكَنَ فِي الْجَبَلِ وَابْنَتَاهُ

مَعَهُ لانَّهُ خَافَ انْ يَسْكُنَ فِي صُوغَرَ. فَسَكَنَ فِي الْمَغَارَةِ هُوَ وَابْنَتَاهُ. وَقَالَتِ الْبِكْرُ لِلصَّغِيرَةِ: «ابُونَا قَدْ شَاخَ وَلَيْسَ فِي

الارْضِ رَجُلٌ لِيَدْخُلَ عَلَيْنَا كَعَادَةِ كُلِّ الارْضِ. هَلُمَّ نَسْقِي ابَانَا خَمْرا وَنَضْطَجِعُ مَعَهُ فَنُحْيِي مِنْ ابِينَا نَسْلا». فَسَقَتَا ابَاهُمَا

خَمْرا فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ وَدَخَلَتِ الْبِكْرُ وَاضْطَجَعَتْ مَعَ ابِيهَا وَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِاضْطِجَاعِهَا وَلا بِقِيَامِهَا. وَحَدَثَ فِي الْغَدِ انَّ الْبِكْرَ

قَالَتْ لِلصَّغِيرَةِ: «انِّي قَدِ اضْطَجَعْتُ الْبَارِحَةَ مَعَ ابِي. نَسْقِيهِ خَمْرا اللَّيْلَةَ ايْضا فَادْخُلِي اضْطَجِعِي مَعَهُ فَنُحْيِيَ مِنْ ابِينَا

نَسْلا». فَسَقَتَا ابَاهُمَا خَمْرا فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ ايْضا وَقَامَتِ الصَّغِيرَةُ وَاضْطَجَعَتْ مَعَهُ وَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِاضْطِجَاعِهَا وَلا بِقِيَامِهَا

فَحَبِلَتِ ابْنَتَا لُوطٍ مِنْ ابِيهِمَا. فَوَلَدَتِ الْبِكْرُ ابْنا وَدَعَتِ اسْمَهُ «مُوابَ» - وَهُوَ ابُو الْمُوابِيِّينَ الَى الْيَوْمِ. وَالصَّغِيرَةُ ايْضا

وَلَدَتِ ابْنا وَدَعَتِ اسْمَهُ «بِنْ عَمِّي» - وَهُوَ ابُو بَنِي عَمُّونَ الَى الْيَوْمِ.

Genesis 19

Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. And he said, "Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant's house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way." And they said, "No, but we will spend the night in the open square." But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. Then he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally." So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, "Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof." And they said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them." So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door. But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door.

Then the men said to Lot, "Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city--take them out of this place! For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it." So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, "Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!" But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.

When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, "Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city." And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed." Then Lot said to them, "Please, no, my lords! Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die. See now, this city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one; please let me escape there (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live." And he said to him, "See, I have favored you concerning this thing also, in that I will not overthrow this city for which you have spoken. Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered Zoar.

Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the Lord. Then he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain; and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land which went up like the smoke of a furnace. And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt.

Then Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountains, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to dwell in Zoar. And he and his two daughters dwelt in a cave. Now the firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man on the earth to come in to us as is the custom of all the earth. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father." So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, "Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father." Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day.

Kejadian 19

1 Kedua malaikat itu tiba di Sodom pada waktu petang. Lot sedang duduk di pintu gerbang Sodom dan ketika melihat mereka, bangunlah ia menyongsong mereka, lalu sujud dengan mukanya sampai ke tanah,

2 serta berkata: ''Tuan-tuan, silakanlah singgah ke rumah hambamu ini, bermalamlah di sini dan basuhlah kakimu, maka besok pagi tuan-tuan boleh melanjutkan perjalanannya.'' Jawab mereka: ''Tidak, kami akan bermalam di tanah lapang.''

3 Tetapi karena ia sangat mendesak mereka, singgahlah mereka dan masuk ke dalam rumahnya, kemudian ia menyediakan hidangan bagi mereka, ia membakar roti yang tidak beragi, lalu mereka makan.

4 Tetapi sebelum mereka tidur, orang-orang lelaki dari kota Sodom itu, dari yang muda sampai yang tua, bahkan seluruh kota, tidak ada yang terkecuali, datang mengepung rumah itu.

5 Mereka berseru kepada Lot: ''Di manakah orang-orang yang datang kepadamu malam ini? Bawalah mereka keluar kepada kami, supaya kami pakai mereka.''

6 Lalu keluarlah Lot menemui mereka, ke depan pintu, tetapi pintu ditutupnya di belakangnya,

7 dan ia berkata: ''Saudara-saudaraku, janganlah kiranya berbuat jahat.

8 Kamu tahu, aku mempunyai dua orang anak perempuan yang belum pernah dijamah laki-laki, baiklah mereka kubawa ke luar kepadamu; perbuatlah kepada mereka seperti yang kamu pandang baik; hanya jangan kamu apa-apakan orang-orang ini, sebab mereka memang datang untuk berlindung di dalam rumahku.''

9 Tetapi mereka berkata: ''Enyahlah!'' Lagi kata mereka: ''Orang ini datang ke sini sebagai orang asing dan dia mau menjadi hakim atas kita! Sekarang kami akan menganiaya engkau lebih dari pada kedua orang itu!'' Lalu mereka mendesak orang itu, yaitu Lot, dengan keras, dan mereka mendekat untuk mendobrak pintu.

10 Tetapi kedua orang itu mengulurkan tangannya, menarik Lot masuk ke dalam rumah, lalu menutup pintu.

11 Dan mereka membutakan mata orang-orang yang di depan pintu rumah itu, dari yang kecil sampai yang besar, sehingga percumalah orang-orang itu mencari-cari pintu.

12 Lalu kedua orang itu berkata kepada Lot: ''Siapakah kaummu yang ada di sini lagi? Menantu atau anakmu laki-laki, anakmu perempuan, atau siapa saja kaummu di kota ini, bawalah mereka keluar dari tempat ini,

13 sebab kami akan memusnahkan tempat ini, karena banyak keluh kesah orang tentang kota ini di hadapan TUHAN; sebab itulah TUHAN mengutus kami untuk memusnahkannya.''

14 Keluarlah Lot, lalu berbicara dengan kedua bakal menantunya, yang akan kawin dengan kedua anaknya perempuan, katanya: ''Bangunlah, keluarlah dari tempat ini, sebab TUHAN akan memusnahkan kota ini.'' Tetapi ia dipandang oleh kedua bakal menantunya itu sebagai orang yang berolok-olok saja.

15 Ketika fajar telah menyingsing, kedua malaikat itu mendesak Lot, supaya bersegera, katanya: ''Bangunlah, bawalah isterimu dan kedua anakmu yang ada di sini, supaya engkau jangan mati lenyap karena kedurjanaan kota ini.''

16 Ketika ia berlambat-lambat, maka tangannya, tangan isteri dan tangan kedua anaknya dipegang oleh kedua orang itu, sebab TUHAN hendak mengasihani dia; lalu kedua orang itu
menuntunnya ke luar kota dan melepaskannya di sana.

17 Sesudah kedua orang itu menuntun mereka sampai ke luar, berkatalah seorang: ''Larilah, selamatkanlah nyawamu; janganlah menoleh ke belakang, dan janganlah berhenti di mana pun juga di Lembah Yordan, larilah ke pegunungan, supaya engkau jangan mati lenyap.''

18 Kata Lot kepada mereka: ''Janganlah kiranya demikian, tuanku.

19 Sungguhlah hambamu ini telah dikaruniai belas kasihan di hadapanmu, dan tuanku telah berbuat kemurahan besar kepadaku dengan memelihara hidupku, tetapi jika aku harus lari ke pegunungan, pastilah aku akan tersusul oleh bencana itu, sehingga matilah aku.

20 Sungguhlah kota yang di sana itu cukup dekat kiranya untuk lari ke sana; kota itu kecil; izinkanlah kiranya aku lari ke sana. Bukankah kota itu kecil? Jika demikian, nyawaku akan terpelihara.''

21 Sahut malaikat itu kepadanya: ''Baiklah, dalam hal ini pun permintaanmu akan kuterima dengan baik; yakni kota yang telah kau sebut itu tidak akan kutunggangbalikkan.

22 Cepatlah, larilah ke sana, sebab aku tidak dapat berbuat apa-apa, sebelum engkau sampai ke sana.'' Itulah sebabnya nama kota itu disebut Zoar.

23 Matahari telah terbit menyinari bumi, ketika Lot tiba di Zoar.

24 Kemudian TUHAN menurunkan hujan belerang dan api atas Sodom dan Gomora, berasal dari TUHAN, dari langit;

25 dan ditunggangbalikkan-Nyalah kota-kota itu dan Lembah Yordan dan semua penduduk kota-kota serta tumbuh-tumbuhan di tanah.

26 Tetapi isteri Lot, yang berjalan mengikutnya, menoleh ke belakang, lalu menjadi tiang garam.

27 Ketika Abraham pagi-pagi pergi ke tempat ia berdiri di hadapan TUHAN itu,

28 dan memandang ke arah Sodom dan Gomora serta ke seluruh tanah Lembah Yordan, maka dilihatnyalah asap dari bumi membubung ke atas sebagai asap dari dapur peleburan.

29 Demikianlah pada waktu Allah memusnahkan kota-kota di Lembah Yordan dan menunggangbalikkan kota-kota kediaman Lot, maka Allah ingat kepada Abraham, lalu dikeluarkan-Nyalah Lot dari tengah-tengah tempat yang ditunggangbalikkan itu.

30 Pergilah Lot dari Zoar dan ia menetap bersama-sama dengan kedua anaknya perempuan di pegunungan, sebab ia tidak berani tinggal di Zoar, maka diamlah ia dalam suatu gua beserta kedua anaknya.

31 Kata kakaknya kepada adiknya: ''Ayah kita telah tua, dan tidak ada laki-laki di negeri ini yang dapat menghampiri kita, seperti kebiasaan seluruh bumi.

32 Marilah kita beri ayah kita minum anggur, lalu kita tidur dengan dia, supaya kita menyambung keturunan dari ayah kita.''

33 Pada malam itu mereka memberi ayah mereka minum anggur, lalu masuklah yang lebih tua untuk tidur dengan ayahnya; dan ayahnya itu tidak mengetahui ketika anaknya itu tidur dan ketika ia bangun.

34 Keesokan harinya berkatalah kakaknya kepada adiknya: ''Tadi malam aku telah tidur dengan ayah; baiklah malam ini juga kita beri dia minum anggur; masuklah engkau untuk tidur dengan dia, supaya kita menyambung keturunan dari ayah kita.''

35 Demikianlah juga pada malam itu mereka memberi ayah mereka minum anggur, lalu bangunlah yang lebih muda untuk tidur dengan ayahnya; dan ayahnya itu tidak mengetahui ketika anaknya itu tidur dan ketika ia bangun.

36 Lalu mengandunglah kedua anak Lot itu dari ayah mereka.

37 Yang lebih tua melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki, dan menamainya Moab; dialah bapa orang Moab yang sekarang.

38 Yang lebih muda pun melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki, dan menamainya Ben-Ami; dialah bapa bani Amon yang sekarang.

وَظَهَرَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ عِنْدَ بَلُّوطَاتِ مَمْرَا وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فِي بَابِ الْخَيْمَةِ وَقْتَ حَرِّ النَّهَارِ فَرَفَعَ عَيْنَيْهِ وَنَظَرَ وَاذَا ثَلاثَةُ رِجَالٍ

وَاقِفُونَ لَدَيْهِ. فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ رَكَضَ لِاسْتِقْبَالِهِمْ مِنْ بَابِ الْخَيْمَةِ وَسَجَدَ الَى الارْضِ وَقَالَ: «يَا سَيِّدُ انْ كُنْتُ قَدْ وَجَدْتُ نِعْمَةً فِي

عَيْنَيْكَ فَلا تَتَجَاوَزْ عَبْدَكَ. لِيُؤْخَذْ قَلِيلُ مَاءٍ وَاغْسِلُوا ارْجُلَكُمْ وَاتَّكِئُوا تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ فَاخُذَ كِسْرَةَ خُبْزٍ فَتُسْنِدُونَ قُلُوبَكُمْ ثُمَّ

تَجْتَازُونَ لانَّكُمْ قَدْ مَرَرْتُمْ عَلَى عَبْدِكُمْ». فَقَالُوا: «هَكَذَا تَفْعَلُ كَمَا تَكَلَّمْتَ». فَاسْرَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ الَى الْخَيْمَةِ الَى سَارَةَ وَقَالَ:

«اسْرِعِي بِثَلاثِ كَيْلاتٍ دَقِيقا سَمِيذا. اعْجِنِي وَاصْنَعِي خُبْزَ مَلَّةٍ». ثُمَّ رَكَضَ ابْرَاهِيمُ الَى الْبَقَرِ وَاخَذَ عِجْلا رَخْصا وَجَيِّدا

وَاعْطَاهُ لِلْغُلامِ فَاسْرَعَ لِيَعْمَلَهُ. ثُمَّ اخَذَ زُبْدا وَلَبَنا وَالْعِجْلَ الَّذِي عَمِلَهُ وَوَضَعَهَا قُدَّامَهُمْ. وَاذْ كَانَ هُوَ وَاقِفا لَدَيْهِمْ تَحْتَ

الشَّجَرَةِ اكَلُوا. وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «ايْنَ سَارَةُ امْرَاتُكَ؟» فَقَالَ: «هَا هِيَ فِي الْخَيْمَةِ». فَقَالَ: «انِّي ارْجِعُ الَيْكَ نَحْوَ زَمَانِ الْحَيَاةِ

وَيَكُونُ لِسَارَةَ امْرَاتِكَ ابْنٌ». وَكَانَتْ سَارَةُ سَامِعَةً فِي بَابِ الْخَيْمَةِ وَهُوَ وَرَاءَهُ - وَكَانَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَسَارَةُ شَيْخَيْنِ مُتَقَدِّمَيْنِ فِي

الايَّامِ وَقَدِ انْقَطَعَ انْ يَكُونَ لِسَارَةَ عَادَةٌ كَالنِّسَاءِ. فَضَحِكَتْ سَارَةُ فِي بَاطِنِهَا قَائِلَةً: «ابَعْدَ فَنَائِي يَكُونُ لِي تَنَعُّمٌ وَسَيِّدِي قَدْ

شَاخَ!» فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لابْرَاهِيمَ: «لِمَاذَا ضَحِكَتْ سَارَةُ قَائِلَةً: افَبِالْحَقِيقَةِ الِدُ وَانَا قَدْ شِخْتُ؟ هَلْ يَسْتَحِيلُ عَلَى الرَّبِّ شَيْءٌ؟ فِي

الْمِيعَادِ ارْجِعُ الَيْكَ نَحْوَ زَمَانِ الْحَيَاةِ وَيَكُونُ لِسَارَةَ ابْنٌ». فَانْكَرَتْ سَارَةُ قَائِلَةً: «لَمْ اضْحَكْ». (لانَّهَا خَافَتْ). فَقَالَ: «لا!

بَلْ ضَحِكْتِ». ثُمَّ قَامَ الرِّجَالُ مِنْ هُنَاكَ وَتَطَلَّعُوا نَحْوَ سَدُومَ. وَكَانَ ابْرَاهِيمُ مَاشِيا مَعَهُمْ لِيُشَيِّعَهُمْ. فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: «هَلْ اخْفِي

عَنْ ابْرَاهِيمَ مَا انَا فَاعِلُهُ وَابْرَاهِيمُ يَكُونُ امَّةً كَبِيرَةً وَقَوِيَّةً وَيَتَبَارَكُ بِهِ جَمِيعُ امَمِ الارْضِ؟ لانِّي عَرَفْتُهُ لِكَيْ يُوصِيَ بَنِيهِ

وَبَيْتَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ انْ يَحْفَظُوا طَرِيقَ الرَّبِّ لِيَعْمَلُوا بِرّا وَعَدْلا لِكَيْ يَاتِيَ الرَّبُّ لابْرَاهِيمَ بِمَا تَكَلَّمَ بِهِ». وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: «انَّ

صُرَاخَ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ قَدْ كَثُرَ وَخَطِيَّتُهُمْ قَدْ عَظُمَتْ جِدّا. انْزِلُ وَارَى هَلْ فَعَلُوا بِالتَّمَامِ حَسَبَ صُرَاخِهَا الْاتِي الَيَّ وَالَّا

فَاعْلَمُ». وَانْصَرَفَ الرِّجَالُ مِنْ هُنَاكَ وَذَهَبُوا نَحْوَ سَدُومَ وَامَّا ابْرَاهِيمُ فَكَانَ لَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِما امَامَ الرَّبِّ. فَتَقَدَّمَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَقَالَ:

«افَتُهْلِكُ الْبَارَّ مَعَ الاثِيمِ؟ عَسَى انْ يَكُونَ خَمْسُونَ بَارّا فِي الْمَدِينَةِ. افَتُهْلِكُ الْمَكَانَ وَلا تَصْفَحُ عَنْهُ مِنْ اجْلِ الْخَمْسِينَ بَارّا

الَّذِينَ فِيهِ؟ حَاشَا لَكَ انْ تَفْعَلَ مِثْلَ هَذَا الامْرِ انْ تُمِيتَ الْبَارَّ مَعَ الاثِيمِ فَيَكُونُ الْبَارُّ كَالاثِيمِ. حَاشَا لَكَ! ادَيَّانُ كُلِّ الارْضِ لا

يَصْنَعُ عَدْلا؟» فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: «انْ وَجَدْتُ فِي سَدُومَ خَمْسِينَ بَارّا فِي الْمَدِينَةِ فَانِّي اصْفَحُ عَنِ الْمَكَانِ كُلِّهِ مِنْ اجْلِهِمْ». فَقَالَ

ابْرَاهِيمُ: «انِّي قَدْ شَرَعْتُ اكَلِّمُ الْمَوْلَى وَانَا تُرَابٌ وَرَمَادٌ. رُبَّمَا نَقَصَ الْخَمْسُونَ بَارّا خَمْسَةً. اتُهْلِكُ كُلَّ الْمَدِينَةِ بِالْخَمْسَةِ؟»

فَقَالَ: «لا اهْلِكُ انْ وَجَدْتُ هُنَاكَ خَمْسَةً وَارْبَعِينَ». فَعَادَ يُكَلِّمُهُ ايْضا وَقَالَ: « عَسَى انْ يُوجَدَ هُنَاكَ ارْبَعُونَ». فَقَالَ: «لا

افْعَلُ مِنْ اجْلِ الارْبَعِينَ». فَقَالَ: «لا يَسْخَطِ الْمَوْلَى فَاتَكَلَّمَ. عَسَى انْ يُوجَدَ هُنَاكَ ثَلاثُونَ». فَقَالَ: «لا افْعَلُ انْ وَجَدْتُ

هُنَاكَ ثَلاثِينَ». فَقَالَ: «انِّي قَدْ شَرَعْتُ اكَلِّمُ الْمَوْلَى. عَسَى انْ يُوجَدَ هُنَاكَ عِشْرُونَ». فَقَالَ: «لا اهْلِكُ مِنْ اجْلِ

الْعِشْرِينَ». فَقَالَ: «لا يَسْخَطِ الْمَوْلَى فَاتَكَلَّمَ هَذِهِ الْمَرَّةَ فَقَطْ. عَسَى انْ يُوجَدَ هُنَاكَ عَشَرَةٌ». فَقَالَ: «لا اهْلِكُ مِنْ اجْلِ

الْعَشَرَةِ». وَذَهَبَ الرَّبُّ عِنْدَمَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الْكَلامِ مَعَ ابْرَاهِيمَ وَرَجَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ الَى مَكَانِهِ.

Genesis 18

Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre,* as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, "My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant." They said, "Do as you have said." So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, "Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes." And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it. So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

Then they said to him, "Where is Sarah your wife?" So he said, "Here, in the tent." And He said, "I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son." (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?" And the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?' Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. And He said, "No, but you did laugh!"

Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. And the Lord said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him." And the Lord said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know." Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.

And Abraham came near and said, "Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" So the Lord said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes." Then Abraham answered and said, "Indeed now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous; would You destroy all of the city for lack of five?" So He said, "If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it." And he spoke to Him yet again and said, "Suppose there should be forty found there?" So He said, "I will not do it for the sake of forty." Then he said, "Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose thirty should be found there?" So He said, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." And he said, "Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?" So He said, "I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty." Then he said, "Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?" And He said, "I will not destroy it for the sake of ten." So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

Kejadian 18

1 Kemudian TUHAN menampakkan diri kepada Abraham dekat pohon tarbantin di Mamre, sedang ia duduk di pintu kemahnya waktu hari panas terik.

2 Ketika ia mengangkat mukanya, ia melihat tiga orang berdiri di depannya. Sesudah dilihatnya mereka, ia berlari dari pintu kemahnya menyongsong mereka, lalu sujudlah ia sampai ke tanah,

3 serta berkata: ''Tuanku, jika aku telah mendapat kasih tuanku, janganlah kiranya lampaui hambamu ini.

4 Biarlah diambil air sedikit, basuhlah kakimu dan duduklah beristirahat di bawah pohon ini;

5 biarlah kuambil sepotong roti, supaya tuan-tuan segar kembali; kemudian bolehlah tuan-tuan meneruskan perjalanannya; sebab tuan-tuan telah datang ke tempat hambamu ini.'' Jawab mereka: ''Perbuatlah seperti yang kaukatakan itu.''

6 Lalu Abraham segera pergi ke kemah mendapatkan Sara serta berkata: ''Segeralah! Ambil tiga sukat tepung yang terbaik! Remaslah itu dan buatlah roti bundar!''

7 Lalu berlarilah Abraham kepada lembu sapinya, ia mengambil seekor anak lembu yang empuk dan baik dagingnya dan memberikannya kepada seorang bujangnya, lalu orang ini segera mengolahnya.

8 Kemudian diambilnya dadih dan susu serta anak lembu yang telah diolah itu, lalu dihidangkannya di depan orang-orang itu; dan ia berdiri di dekat mereka di bawah pohon itu, sedang mereka makan.

9 Lalu kata mereka kepadanya: ''Di manakah Sara, isterimu?'' Jawabnya: ''Di sana, di dalam kemah.''

10 Dan firman-Nya: ''Sesungguhnya Aku akan kembali tahun depan mendapatkan engkau, pada waktu itulah Sara, isterimu, akan mempunyai seorang anak laki-laki.'' Dan Sara mendengarkan pada pintu kemah yang di belakang-Nya.

11 Adapun Abraham dan Sara telah tua dan lanjut umurnya dan Sara telah mati haid.

12 Jadi tertawalah Sara dalam hatinya, katanya: ''Akan berahikah aku, setelah aku sudah layu, sedangkan tuanku sudah tua?''

13 Lalu berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Abraham: ''Mengapakah Sara tertawa dan berkata: Sungguhkah aku akan melahirkan anak, sedangkan aku telah tua?

14 Adakah sesuatu apa pun yang mustahil untuk TUHAN? Pada waktu yang telah ditetapkan itu, tahun depan, Aku akan kembali mendapatkan engkau, pada waktu itulah Sara mempunyai seorang anak laki-laki.''

15 Lalu Sara menyangkal, katanya: ''Aku tidak tertawa,'' sebab ia takut; tetapi TUHAN berfirman: ''Tidak, memang engkau tertawa!''

16 Lalu berangkatlah orang-orang itu dari situ dan memandang ke arah Sodom; dan Abraham berjalan bersama-sama dengan mereka untuk mengantarkan mereka.

17 Berpikirlah TUHAN: ''Apakah Aku akan menyembunyikan kepada Abraham apa yang hendak Kulakukan ini?

18 Bukankah sesungguhnya Abraham akan menjadi bangsa yang besar serta berkuasa, dan oleh dia segala bangsa di atas bumi akan mendapat berkat?

19 Sebab Aku telah memilih dia, supaya diperintahkannya kepada anak-anaknya dan kepada keturunannya supaya tetap hidup menurut jalan yang ditunjukkan TUHAN, dengan melakukan kebenaran dan keadilan, dan supaya TUHAN memenuhi kepada Abraham apa yang dijanjikan-Nya kepadanya.''

20 Sesudah itu berfirmanlah TUHAN: ''Sesungguhnya banyak keluh kesah orang tentang Sodom dan Gomora dan sesungguhnya sangat berat dosanya.

21 Baiklah Aku turun untuk melihat, apakah benar-benar mereka telah berkelakuan seperti keluh kesah orang yang telah sampai kepada-Ku atau tidak; Aku hendak mengetahuinya.''

22 Lalu berpalinglah orang-orang itu dari situ dan berjalan ke Sodom, tetapi Abraham masih tetap berdiri di hadapan TUHAN.

23 Abraham datang mendekat dan berkata: ''Apakah Engkau akan melenyapkan orang benar bersama-sama dengan orang fasik?

24 Bagaimana sekiranya ada lima puluh orang benar dalam kota itu? Apakah Engkau akan melenyapkan tempat itu dan tidakkah Engkau mengampuninya karena kelima puluh orang benar yang ada di dalamnya itu?

25 Jauhlah kiranya dari pada-Mu untuk berbuat demikian, membunuh orang benar
bersama-sama dengan orang fasik, sehingga orang benar itu seolah-olah sama dengan orang fasik! Jauhlah kiranya yang demikian dari pada-Mu! Masakan Hakim segenap bumi tidak menghukum dengan adil?''

26 TUHAN berfirman: ''Jika Kudapati lima puluh orang benar dalam kota Sodom, Aku akan mengampuni seluruh tempat itu karena mereka.''

27 Abraham menyahut: ''Sesungguhnya aku telah memberanikan diri berkata kepada Tuhan, walaupun aku debu dan abu.

28 Sekiranya kurang lima orang dari kelima puluh orang benar itu, apakah Engkau akan memusnahkan seluruh kota itu karena yang lima itu?'' Firman-Nya: ''Aku tidak memusnahkannya, jika Kudapati empat puluh lima di sana.''

29 Lagi Abraham melanjutkan perkataannya kepada-Nya: ''Sekiranya empat puluh didapati di sana?'' Firman-Nya: ''Aku tidak akan berbuat demikian karena yang empat puluh itu.''

30 Katanya: ''Janganlah kiranya Tuhan murka, kalau aku berkata sekali lagi. Sekiranya tiga puluh didapati di sana?'' Firman-Nya: ''Aku tidak akan berbuat demikian, jika Kudapati tiga puluh di sana.''

31 Katanya: ''Sesungguhnya aku telah memberanikan diri berkata kepada Tuhan. Sekiranya dua puluh didapati di sana?'' Firman-Nya: ''Aku tidak akan memusnahkannya karena yang dua puluh itu.''

32 Katanya: ''Janganlah kiranya Tuhan murka, kalau aku berkata lagi sekali ini saja. Sekiranya sepuluh didapati di sana?'' Firman-Nya: ''Aku tidak akan memusnahkannya karena yang sepuluh itu.''

33 Lalu pergilah TUHAN, setelah Ia selesai berfirman kepada Abraham; dan kembalilah Abraham ke tempat tinggalnya.

وَلَمَّا كَانَ ابْرَامُ ابْنَ تِسْعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ سَنَةً ظَهَرَ الرَّبُّ لابْرَامَ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «انَا اللهُ الْقَدِيرُ. سِرْ امَامِي وَكُنْ كَامِلا فَاجْعَلَ عَهْدِي

بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ وَاكَثِّرَكَ كَثِيرا جِدّا». فَسَقَطَ ابْرَامُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ. وَقَالَ اللهُ لَهُ: «امَّا انَا فَهُوَذَا عَهْدِي مَعَكَ وَتَكُونُ ابا لِجُمْهُورٍ

مِنَ الامَمِ فَلا يُدْعَى اسْمُكَ بَعْدُ ابْرَامَ بَلْ يَكُونُ اسْمُكَ ابْرَاهِيمَ لانِّي اجْعَلُكَ ابا لِجُمْهُورٍ مِنَ الامَمِ. وَاثْمِرُكَ كَثِيرا جِدّا

وَاجْعَلُكَ امَما وَمُلُوكٌ مِنْكَ يَخْرُجُونَ. وَاقِيمُ عَهْدِي بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ نَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ فِي اجْيَالِهِمْ عَهْدا ابَدِيّا لاكُونَ الَها لَكَ

وَلِنَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ. وَاعْطِي لَكَ وَلِنَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ ارْضَ غُرْبَتِكَ كُلَّ ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ مِلْكا ابَدِيّا. وَاكُونُ الَهَهُمْ». وَقَالَ اللهُ

لابْرَاهِيمَ: «وَامَّا انْتَ فَتَحْفَظُ عَهْدِي انْتَ وَنَسْلُكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ فِي اجْيَالِهِمْ. هَذَا هُوَ عَهْدِي الَّذِي تَحْفَظُونَهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ

نَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ: يُخْتَنُ مِنْكُمْ كُلُّ ذَكَرٍ فَتُخْتَنُونَ فِي لَحْمِ غُرْلَتِكُمْ فَيَكُونُ عَلامَةَ عَهْدٍ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ. ابْنَ ثَمَانِيَةِ ايَّامٍ يُخْتَنُ مِنْكُمْ

كُلُّ ذَكَرٍ فِي اجْيَالِكُمْ: وَلِيدُ الْبَيْتِ وَالْمُبْتَاعُ بِفِضَّةٍ مِنْ كُلِّ ابْنِ غَرِيبٍ لَيْسَ مِنْ نَسْلِكَ. يُخْتَنُ خِتَانا وَلِيدُ بَيْتِكَ وَالْمُبْتَاعُ بِفِضَّتِكَ

فَيَكُونُ عَهْدِي فِي لَحْمِكُمْ عَهْدا ابَدِيّا. وَامَّا الذَّكَرُ الاغْلَفُ الَّذِي لا يُخْتَنُ فِي لَحْمِ غُرْلَتِهِ فَتُقْطَعُ تِلْكَ النَّفْسُ مِنْ شَعْبِهَا. انَّهُ

قَدْ نَكَثَ عَهْدِي». وَقَالَ اللهُ لابْرَاهِيمَ: «سَارَايُ امْرَاتُكَ لا تَدْعُو اسْمَهَا سَارَايَ بَلِ اسْمُهَا سَارَةُ. وَابَارِكُهَا وَاعْطِيكَ ايْضا

مِنْهَا ابْنا. ابَارِكُهَا فَتَكُونُ امَما وَمُلُوكُ شُعُوبٍ مِنْهَا يَكُونُونَ». فَسَقَطَ ابْرَاهِيمُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ وَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ فِي قَلْبِهِ: «هَلْ يُولَدُ

لِابْنِ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ؟ وَهَلْ تَلِدُ سَارَةُ وَهِيَ بِنْتُ تِسْعِينَ سَنَةً؟». وَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ لِلَّهِ: «لَيْتَ اسْمَاعِيلَ يَعِيشُ امَامَكَ!» فَقَالَ اللهُ بَلْ

سَارَةُ امْرَاتُكَ تَلِدُ لَكَ ابْنا وَتَدْعُو اسْمَهُ اسْحَاقَ. وَاقِيمُ عَهْدِي مَعَهُ عَهْدا ابَدِيّا لِنَسْلِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ. وَامَّا اسْمَاعِيلُ فَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ لَكَ

فِيهِ. هَا انَا ابَارِكُهُ وَاثْمِرُهُ وَاكَثِّرُهُ كَثِيرا جِدّا. اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ رَئِيسا يَلِدُ وَاجْعَلُهُ امَّةً كَبِيرَةً. وَلَكِنْ عَهْدِي اقِيمُهُ مَعَ اسْحَاقَ الَّذِي

تَلِدُهُ لَكَ سَارَةُ فِي هَذَا الْوَقْتِ فِي السَّنَةِ الْاتِيَةِ». فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنَ الْكَلامِ مَعَهُ صَعِدَ اللهُ عَنْ ابْرَاهِيمَ. فَاخَذَ ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْمَاعِيلَ

ابْنَهُ وَجَمِيعَ وِلْدَانِ بَيْتِهِ وَجَمِيعَ الْمُبْتَاعِينَ بِفِضَّتِهِ كُلَّ ذَكَرٍ مِنْ اهْلِ بَيْتِ ابْرَاهِيمَ وَخَتَنَ لَحْمَ غُرْلَتِهِمْ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ عَيْنِهِ كَمَا

كَلَّمَهُ اللهُ. وَكَانَ ابْرَاهِيمُ ابْنَ تِسْعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ سَنَةً حِينَ خُتِنَ فِي لَحْمِ غُرْلَتِهِ وَكَانَ اسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُهُ ابْنَ ثَلاثَ عَشَرَةَ سَنَةً حِينَ

خُتِنَ فِي لَحْمِ غُرْلَتِهِ. فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ عَيْنِهِ خُتِنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَاسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُهُ. وَكُلُّ رِجَالِ بَيْتِهِ وِلْدَانِ الْبَيْتِ وَالْمُبْتَاعِينَ بِالْفِضَّةِ

مِنِ ابْنِ الْغَرِيبِ خُتِنُوا مَعَهُ.

تكوين 17

Genesis 17

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly." Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:

"As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." And God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and you. He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."

Then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her." Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!" Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year." Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

So Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very same day, as God had said to him. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. That very same day Abraham was circumcised, and his son Ishmael; and all the men of his house, born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Kejadian 17

1 Ketika Abram berumur sembilan puluh sembilan tahun, maka TUHAN menampakkan diri kepada Abram dan berfirman kepadanya: ''Akulah Allah Yang Mahakuasa, hiduplah di hadapan-Ku dengan tidak bercela.

2 Aku akan mengadakan perjanjian antara Aku dan engkau, dan Aku akan membuat engkau sangat banyak.''

3 Lalu sujudlah Abram, dan Allah berfirman kepadanya:

4 ''Dari pihak-Ku, inilah perjanjian-Ku dengan engkau: Engkau akan menjadi bapa sejumlah besar bangsa.

5 Karena itu namamu bukan lagi Abram, melainkan Abraham, karena engkau telah Kutetapkan menjadi bapa sejumlah besar bangsa.

6 Aku akan membuat engkau beranak cucu sangat banyak; engkau akan Kubuat menjadi bangsa-bangsa, dan dari padamu akan berasal raja-raja.

7 Aku akan mengadakan perjanjian antara Aku dan engkau serta keturunanmu turun-temurun menjadi perjanjian yang kekal, supaya Aku menjadi Allahmu dan Allah keturunanmu.

8 Kepadamu dan kepada keturunanmu akan Kuberikan negeri ini yang kaudiami sebagai orang asing, yakni seluruh tanah Kanaan akan Kuberikan menjadi milikmu untuk selama-lamanya; dan Aku akan menjadi Allah mereka.''

9 Lagi firman Allah kepada Abraham: ''Dari pihakmu, engkau harus memegang perjanjian-Ku, engkau dan keturunanmu turun-temurun.

10 Inilah perjanjian-Ku, yang harus kamu pegang, perjanjian antara Aku dan kamu serta keturunanmu, yaitu setiap laki-laki di antara kamu harus disunat;

11 haruslah dikerat kulit khatanmu dan itulah akan menjadi tanda perjanjian antara Aku dan kamu.

12 Anak yang berumur delapan hari haruslah disunat, yakni setiap laki-laki di antara kamu, turun-temurun: baik yang lahir di rumahmu, maupun yang dibeli dengan uang dari salah seorang asing, tetapi tidak termasuk keturunanmu.

13 Orang yang lahir di rumahmu dan orang yang engkau beli dengan uang harus disunat; maka dalam dagingmulah perjanjian-Ku itu menjadi perjanjian yang kekal.

14 Dan orang yang tidak disunat, yakni laki-laki yang tidak dikerat kulit khatannya, maka orang itu harus dilenyapkan dari antara orang-orang sebangsanya: ia telah mengingkari perjanjian-Ku.''

15 Selanjutnya Allah berfirman kepada Abraham: ''Tentang isterimu Sarai, janganlah engkau menyebut dia lagi Sarai, tetapi Sara, itulah namanya.

16 Aku akan memberkatinya, dan dari padanya juga Aku akan memberikan kepadamu seorang anak laki-laki, bahkan Aku akan memberkatinya, sehingga ia menjadi ibu bangsa-bangsa; raja-raja bangsa-bangsa akan lahir dari padanya.''

17 Lalu tertunduklah Abraham dan tertawa serta berkata dalam hatinya: ''Mungkinkah bagi seorang yang berumur seratus tahun dilahirkan seorang anak dan mungkinkah Sara, yang telah berumur sembilan puluh tahun itu melahirkan seorang anak?''

18 Dan Abraham berkata kepada Allah: ''Ah, sekiranya Ismael diperkenankan hidup di hadapan-Mu!''

19 Tetapi Allah berfirman: ''Tidak, melainkan isterimu Saralah yang akan melahirkan anak laki-laki bagimu, dan engkau akan menamai dia Ishak, dan Aku akan mengadakan perjanjian-Ku dengan dia menjadi perjanjian yang kekal untuk keturunannya.

20 Tentang Ismael, Aku telah mendengarkan permintaanmu; ia akan Kuberkati, Kubuat beranak cucu dan sangat banyak; ia akan memperanakkan dua belas raja, dan Aku akan membuatnya menjadi bangsa yang besar.

21 Tetapi perjanjian-Ku akan Kuadakan dengan Ishak, yang akan dilahirkan Sara bagimu tahun yang akan datang pada waktu seperti ini juga.''

22 Setelah selesai berfirman kepada Abraham, naiklah Allah meninggalkan Abraham.

23 Setelah itu Abraham memanggil Ismael, anaknya, dan semua orang yang lahir di rumahnya, juga semua orang yang dibelinya dengan uang, yakni setiap laki-laki dari isi rumahnya, lalu ia mengerat kulit khatan mereka pada hari itu juga, seperti yang telah difirmankan Allah kepadanya.

24 Abraham berumur sembilan puluh sembilan tahun ketika dikerat kulit khatannya.

25 Dan Ismael, anaknya, berumur tiga belas tahun ketika dikerat kulit khatannya.

26 Pada hari itu juga Abraham dan Ismael, anaknya, disunat.

27 Dan semua orang dari isi rumah Abraham, baik yang lahir di rumahnya, maupun yang dibeli dengan uang dari orang asing, disunat bersama-sama dengan dia.

وَامَّا سَارَايُ امْرَاةُ ابْرَامَ فَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ. وَكَانَتْ لَهَا جَارِيَةٌ مِصْرِيَّةٌ اسْمُهَا هَاجَرُ فَقَالَتْ سَارَايُ لابْرَامَ: «هُوَذَا الرَّبُّ قَدْ

امْسَكَنِي عَنِ الْوِلادَةِ. ادْخُلْ عَلَى جَارِيَتِي لَعَلِّي ارْزَقُ مِنْهَا بَنِينَ». فَسَمِعَ ابْرَامُ لِقَوْلِ سَارَايَ. فَاخَذَتْ سَارَايُ امْرَاةُ ابْرَامَ

هَاجَرَ الْمِصْرِيَّةَ جَارِيَتَهَا مِنْ بَعْدِ عَشَرِ سِنِينَ لاقَامَةِ ابْرَامَ فِي ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ وَاعْطَتْهَا لابْرَامَ رَجُلِهَا زَوْجَةً لَهُ. فَدَخَلَ عَلَى

هَاجَرَ فَحَبِلَتْ. وَلَمَّا رَاتْ انَّهَا حَبِلَتْ صَغُرَتْ مَوْلاتُهَا فِي عَيْنَيْهَا. فَقَالَتْ سَارَايُ لابْرَامَ: «ظُلْمِي عَلَيْكَ! انَا دَفَعْتُ جَارِيَتِي

الَى حِضْنِكَ فَلَمَّا رَاتْ انَّهَا حَبِلَتْ صَغُرْتُ فِي عَيْنَيْهَا. يَقْضِي الرَّبُّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ». فَقَالَ ابْرَامُ لِسَارَايَ: «هُوَذَا جَارِيَتُكِ فِي

يَدِكِ. افْعَلِي بِهَا مَا يَحْسُنُ فِي عَيْنَيْكِ». فَاذَلَّتْهَا سَارَايُ فَهَرَبَتْ مِنْ وَجْهِهَا. فَوَجَدَهَا مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ عَلَى عَيْنِ الْمَاءِ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ

عَلَى الْعَيْنِ الَّتِي فِي طَرِيقِ شُورَ. وَقَالَ: «يَا هَاجَرُ جَارِيَةَ سَارَايَ مِنْ ايْنَ اتَيْتِ وَالَى ايْنَ تَذْهَبِين؟». فَقَالَتْ: «انَا هَارِبَةٌ

مِنْ وَجْهِ مَوْلاتِي سَارَايَ». فَقَالَ لَهَا مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ: «ارْجِعِي الَى مَوْلاتِكِ وَاخْضَعِي تَحْتَ يَدَيْهَا». وَقَالَ لَهَا مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ:

«تَكْثِيرا اكَثِّرُ نَسْلَكِ فَلا يُعَدُّ مِنَ الْكَثْرَةِ». وَقَالَ لَهَا مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ: «هَا انْتِ حُبْلَى فَتَلِدِينَ ابْنا وَتَدْعِينَ اسْمَهُ اسْمَاعِيلَ لانَّ

الرَّبَّ قَدْ سَمِعَ لِمَذَلَّتِكِ. وَانَّهُ يَكُونُ انْسَانا وَحْشِيّا يَدُهُ عَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ وَيَدُ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ عَلَيْهِ وَامَامَ جَمِيعِ اخْوَتِهِ يَسْكُنُ». فَدَعَتِ

اسْمَ الرَّبِّ الَّذِي تَكَلَّمَ مَعَهَا: «انْتَ ايلُ رُئِي». لانَّهَا قَالَتْ: «اهَهُنَا ايْضا رَايْتُ بَعْدَ رُؤْيَةٍ؟» لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَتِ الْبِئْرُ «بِئْرَ لَحَيْ

رُئِي». هَا هِيَ بَيْنَ قَادِشَ وَبَارَدَ. فَوَلَدَتْ هَاجَرُ لابْرَامَ ابْنا. وَدَعَا ابْرَامُ اسْمَ ابْنِهِ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ هَاجَرُ «اسْمَاعِيلَ». كَانَ

ابْرَامُ ابْنَ سِتٍّ وَثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً لَمَّا وَلَدَتْ هَاجَرُ اسْمَاعِيلَ لابْرَامَ.

تكوين 16

Genesis 16

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Then Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.

So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes. Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me." So Abram said to Sarai, "Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please." And when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her presence.

Now the Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. And He said, "Hagar, Sarai's maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?" She said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai." The Angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand."

Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude." And the Angel of the Lord said to her: "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has heard your affliction. He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man's hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, "Have I also here seen Him who sees me?" Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; observe, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.

Kejadian 16

1 Adapun Sarai, isteri Abram itu, tidak beranak. Ia mempunyai seorang hamba perempuan, orang Mesir, Hagar namanya.

2 Berkatalah Sarai kepada Abram: ''Engkau tahu, TUHAN tidak memberi aku melahirkan anak. Karena itu baiklah hampiri hambaku itu; mungkin oleh dialah aku dapat memperoleh seorang anak.'' Dan Abram mendengarkan perkataan Sarai.

3 Jadi Sarai, isteri Abram itu, mengambil Hagar, hambanya, orang Mesir itu, -- yakni ketika Abram telah sepuluh tahun tinggal di tanah Kanaan --, lalu memberikannya kepada Abram, suaminya, untuk menjadi isterinya.

4 Abram menghampiri Hagar, lalu mengandunglah perempuan itu. Ketika Hagar tahu, bahwa ia mengandung, maka ia memandang rendah akan nyonyanya itu.

5 Lalu berkatalah Sarai kepada Abram: ''Penghinaan yang kuderita ini adalah tanggung jawabmu; akulah yang memberikan hambaku ke pangkuanmu, tetapi baru saja ia tahu, bahwa ia mengandung, ia memandang rendah akan aku; TUHAN kiranya yang menjadi Hakim antara aku dan engkau.''

6 Kata Abram kepada Sarai: ''Hambamu itu di bawah kekuasaanmu; perbuatlah kepadanya apa yang kaupandang baik.'' Lalu Sarai menindas Hagar, sehingga ia lari meninggalkannya.

7 Lalu Malaikat TUHAN menjumpainya dekat suatu mata air di padang gurun, yakni dekat mata air di jalan ke Syur.

8 Katanya: ''Hagar, hamba Sarai, dari manakah datangmu dan ke manakah pergimu?'' Jawabnya: ''Aku lari meninggalkan Sarai, nyonyaku.''

9 Lalu kata Malaikat TUHAN itu kepadanya: ''Kembalilah kepada nyonyamu, biarkanlah engkau ditindas di bawah kekuasaannya.''

10 Lagi kata Malaikat TUHAN itu kepadanya: ''Aku akan membuat sangat banyak keturunanmu, sehingga tidak dapat dihitung karena banyaknya.''

11 Selanjutnya kata Malaikat TUHAN itu kepadanya: ''Engkau mengandung dan akan melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki dan akan menamainya Ismael, sebab TUHAN telah mendengar tentang penindasan atasmu itu.

12 Seorang laki-laki yang lakunya seperti keledai liar, demikianlah nanti anak itu; tangannya akan melawan tiap-tiap orang dan tangan tiap-tiap orang akan melawan dia, dan di tempat kediamannya ia akan menentang semua saudaranya.''

13 Kemudian Hagar menamakan TUHAN yang telah berfirman kepadanya itu dengan sebutan: ''Engkaulah El-Roi.'' Sebab katanya: ''Bukankah di sini kulihat Dia yang telah melihat aku?''

14 Sebab itu sumur tadi disebutkan orang: sumur Lahai-Roi; letaknya antara Kadesh dan Bered.

15 Lalu Hagar melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki bagi Abram dan Abram menamai anak yang dilahirkan Hagar itu Ismael.

16 Abram berumur delapan puluh enam tahun, ketika Hagar melahirkan Ismael baginya.

بَعْدَ هَذِهِ الامُورِ صَارَ كَلامُ الرَّبِّ الَى ابْرَامَ فِي الرُّؤْيَا: «لا تَخَفْ يَا ابْرَامُ. انَا تُرْسٌ لَكَ. اجْرُكَ كَثِيرٌ جِدّا». فَقَالَ ابْرَامُ:

«ايُّهَا السَّيِّدُ الرَّبُّ مَاذَا تُعْطِينِي وَانَا مَاضٍ عَقِيما وَمَالِكُ بَيْتِي هُوَ الِيعَازَرُ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ؟» وَقَالَ ابْرَامُ ايْضا: «انَّكَ لَمْ تُعْطِنِي

نَسْلا وَهُوَذَا ابْنُ بَيْتِي وَارِثٌ لِي». فَاذَا كَلامُ الرَّبِّ الَيْهِ: «لا يَرِثُكَ هَذَا. بَلِ الَّذِي يَخْرُجُ مِنْ احْشَائِكَ هُوَ يَرِثُكَ». ثُمَّ

اخْرَجَهُ الَى خَارِجٍ وَقَالَ: «انْظُرْ الَى السَّمَاءِ وَعُدَّ النُّجُومَ انِ اسْتَطَعْتَ انْ تَعُدَّهَا». وَقَالَ لَهُ: «هَكَذَا يَكُونُ نَسْلُكَ». فَامَنَ

بِالرَّبِّ فَحَسِبَهُ لَهُ بِرّا. وَقَالَ لَهُ: «انَا الرَّبُّ الَّذِي اخْرَجَكَ مِنْ اورِ الْكِلْدَانِيِّينَ لِيُعْطِيَكَ هَذِهِ الارْضَ لِتَرِثَهَا». فَقَالَ: «ايُّهَا

السَّيِّدُ الرَّبُّ بِمَاذَا اعْلَمُ انِّي ارِثُهَا؟» فَقَالَ لَهُ: «خُذْ لِي عِجْلَةً ثُلاثِيَّةً وَعَنْزَةً ثُلاثِيَّةً وَكَبْشا ثُلاثِيّا وَيَمَامَةً وَحَمَامَةً». فَاخَذَ هَذِهِ

كُلَّهَا وَشَقَّهَا مِنَ الْوَسَطِ وَجَعَلَ شِقَّ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مُقَابِلَ صَاحِبِهِ. وَامَّا الطَّيْرُ فَلَمْ يَشُقَّهُ. فَنَزَلَتِ الْجَوَارِحُ عَلَى الْجُثَثِ وَكَانَ

ابْرَامُ يَزْجُرُهَا. وَلَمَّا صَارَتِ الشَّمْسُ الَى الْمَغِيبِ وَقَعَ عَلَى ابْرَامَ سُبَاتٌ وَاذَا رُعْبَةٌ مُظْلِمَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ وَاقِعَةٌ عَلَيْهِ. فَقَالَ

لابْرَامَ: «اعْلَمْ يَقِينا انَّ نَسْلَكَ سَيَكُونُ غَرِيبا فِي ارْضٍ لَيْسَتْ لَهُمْ وَيُسْتَعْبَدُونَ لَهُمْ فَيُذِلُّونَهُمْ ارْبَعَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ. ثُمَّ الامَّةُ الَّتِي

يُسْتَعْبَدُونَ لَهَا انَا ادِينُهَا. وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَخْرُجُونَ بِامْلاكٍ جَزِيلَةٍ. وَامَّا انْتَ فَتَمْضِي الَى ابَائِكَ بِسَلامٍ وَتُدْفَنُ بِشَيْبَةٍ صَالِحَةٍ. وَفِي

الْجِيلِ الرَّابِعِ يَرْجِعُونَ الَى هَهُنَا لانَّ ذَنْبَ الامُورِيِّينَ لَيْسَ الَى الْانَ كَامِلا». ثُمَّ غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَارَتِ الْعَتَمَةُ وَاذَا تَنُّورُ

دُخَانٍ وَمِصْبَاحُ نَارٍ يَجُوزُ بَيْنَ تِلْكَ الْقِطَعِ. فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ قَطَعَ الرَّبُّ مَعَ ابْرَامَ مِيثَاقا قَائِلا: «لِنَسْلِكَ اعْطِي هَذِهِ الارْضَ

مِنْ نَهْرِ مِصْرَ الَى النَّهْرِ الْكَبِيرِ نَهْرِ الْفُرَاتِ. الْقِينِيِّينَ وَالْقَنِزِّيِّينَ وَالْقَدْمُونِيِّينَ وَالْحِثِّيِّينَ وَالْفِرِزِّيِّينَ وَالرَّفَائِيِّينَ وَالامُورِيِّينَ

وَالْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ وَالْجِرْجَاشِيِّينَ وَالْيَبُوسِيِّينَ».

Genesis 15

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

But Abram said, "Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

Then He said to him, "I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it." And he said, "Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?" So He said to him, "Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon." Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds in two. And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.

Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. Then He said to Abram: "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete."

And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces. On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates-- the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites."

Kejadian 15

1 Kemudian datanglah firman TUHAN kepada Abram dalam suatu penglihatan: ''Janganlah takut, Abram, Akulah perisaimu; upahmu akan sangat besar.''

2 Abram menjawab: ''Ya Tuhan ALLAH, apakah yang akan Engkau berikan kepadaku, karena aku akan meninggal dengan tidak mempunyai anak, dan yang akan mewarisi rumahku ialah Eliezer, orang Damsyik itu.''

3 Lagi kata Abram: ''Engkau tidak memberikan kepadaku keturunan, sehingga seorang hambaku nanti menjadi ahli warisku.''

4 Tetapi datanglah firman TUHAN kepadanya, demikian: ''Orang ini tidak akan menjadi ahli warismu, melainkan anak kandungmu, dialah yang akan menjadi ahli warismu.''

5 Lalu TUHAN membawa Abram ke luar serta berfirman: ''Coba lihat ke langit, hitunglah bintang-bintang, jika engkau dapat menghitungnya.'' Maka firman-Nya kepadanya: ''Demikianlah banyaknya nanti keturunanmu.''

6 Lalu percayalah Abram kepada TUHAN, maka TUHAN memperhitungkan hal itu kepadanya sebagai kebenaran.

7 Lagi firman TUHAN kepadanya: ''Akulah TUHAN, yang membawa engkau keluar dari Ur-Kasdim untuk memberikan negeri ini kepadamu menjadi milikmu.''

8 Kata Abram: ''Ya Tuhan ALLAH, dari manakah aku tahu, bahwa aku akan memilikinya?''

9 Firman TUHAN kepadanya: ''Ambillah bagi-Ku seekor lembu betina berumur tiga tahun, seekor kambing betina berumur tiga tahun, seekor domba jantan berumur tiga tahun, seekor burung tekukur dan seekor anak burung merpati.''

10 Diambilnyalah semuanya itu bagi TUHAN, dipotong dua, lalu diletakkannya bagian-bagian itu yang satu di samping yang lain, tetapi burung-burung itu tidak dipotong dua.

11 Ketika burung-burung buas hinggap pada daging binatang-binatang itu, maka Abram
mengusirnya.

12 Menjelang matahari terbenam, tertidurlah Abram dengan nyenyak. Lalu turunlah meliputinya gelap gulita yang mengerikan.

13 Firman TUHAN kepada Abram: ''Ketahuilah dengan sesungguhnya bahwa keturunanmu akan menjadi orang asing dalam suatu negeri, yang bukan kepunyaan mereka, dan bahwa mereka akan diperbudak dan dianiaya, empat ratus tahun lamanya.

14 Tetapi bangsa yang akan memperbudak mereka, akan Kuhukum, dan sesudah itu mereka akan keluar dengan membawa harta benda yang banyak.

15 Tetapi engkau akan pergi kepada nenek moyangmu dengan sejahtera; engkau akan dikuburkan pada waktu telah putih rambutmu.

16 Tetapi keturunan yang keempat akan kembali ke sini, sebab sebelum itu kedurjanaan orang Amori itu belum genap.''

17 Ketika matahari telah terbenam, dan hari menjadi gelap, maka kelihatanlah perapian yang berasap beserta suluh yang berapi lewat di antara potongan-potongan daging itu.

18 Pada hari itulah TUHAN mengadakan perjanjian dengan Abram serta berfirman: ''Kepada keturunanmulah Kuberikan negeri ini, mulai dari sungai Mesir sampai ke sungai yang besar itu, sungai Efrat:

19 yakni tanah orang Keni, orang Kenas, orang Kadmon,

20 orang Het, orang Feris, orang Refaim,

21 orang Amori, orang Kanaan, orang Girgasi dan orang Yebus itu.''

وَحَدَثَ فِي ايَّامِ امْرَافَلَ مَلِكِ شِنْعَارَ وَارْيُوكَ مَلِكِ الَّاسَارَ وَكَدَرْلَعَوْمَرَ مَلِكِ عِيلامَ وَتِدْعَالَ مَلِكِ جُويِيمَ انَّ هَؤُلاءِ صَنَعُوا

حَرْبا مَعَ بَارَعَ مَلِكِ سَدُومَ وَبِرْشَاعَ مَلِكِ عَمُورَةَ وَشِنْابَ مَلِكِ ادْمَةَ وَشِمْئِيبَرَ مَلِكِ صَبُويِيمَ وَمَلِكِ بَالَعَ (الَّتِي هِيَ صُوغَرُ).

جَمِيعُ هَؤُلاءِ اجْتَمَعُوا مُتَعَاهِدِينَ الَى عُمْقِ السِّدِّيمِ (الَّذِي هُوَ بَحْرُ الْمِلْحِ). اثْنَتَيْ عَشَرَةَ سَنَةً اسْتُعْبِدُوا لِكَدَرْلَعَوْمَرَ وَالسَّنَةَ

الثَّالِثَةَ عَشَرَةَ عَصُوا عَلَيْهِ. وَفِي السَّنَةِ الرَّابِعَةَ عَشَرَةَ اتَى كَدَرْلَعَوْمَرُ وَالْمُلُوكُ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ وَضَرَبُوا الرَّفَائِيِّينَ فِي عَشْتَارُوثَ

قَرْنَايِمَ وَالزُّوزِيِّينَ فِي هَامَ وَالايمِيِّينَ فِي شَوَى قَرْيَتَايِمَ وَالْحُورِيِّينَ فِي جَبَلِهِمْ سَعِيرَ الَى بُطْمَةِ فَارَانَ الَّتِي عِنْدَ الْبَرِّيَّةِ. ثُمَّ

رَجَعُوا وَجَاءُوا الَى عَيْنِ مِشْفَاطَ (الَّتِي هِيَ قَادِشُ). وَضَرَبُوا كُلَّ بِلادِ الْعَمَالِقَةِ وَايْضا الامُورِيِّينَ السَّاكِنِينَ فِي حَصُّونَ

تَامَارَ. فَخَرَجَ مَلِكُ سَدُومَ وَمَلِكُ عَمُورَةَ وَمَلِكُ ادْمَةَ وَمَلِكُ صَبُويِيمَ وَمَلِكُ بَالَعَ (الَّتِي هِيَ صُوغَرُ) وَنَظَمُوا حَرْبا مَعَهُمْ فِي

عُمْقِ السِّدِّيمِ. مَعَ كَدَرْلَعَوْمَرَ مَلِكِ عِيلامَ وَتِدْعَالَ مَلِكِ جُويِيمَ وَامْرَافَلَ مَلِكِ شِنْعَارَ وَارْيُوكَ مَلِكِ الَّاسَارَ. ارْبَعَةُ مُلُوكٍ عَلَى

خَمْسَةٍ. وَعُمْقُ السِّدِّيمِ كَانَ فِيهِ ابَارُ حُمَرٍ كَثِيرَةٌ. فَهَرَبَ مَلِكَا سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَسَقَطَا هُنَاكَ وَالْبَاقُونَ هَرَبُوا الَى الْجَبَلِ.

فَاخَذُوا جَمِيعَ امْلاكِ سَدُومَ وَعَمُورَةَ وَجَمِيعَ اطْعِمَتِهِمْ وَمَضُوا. وَاخَذُوا لُوطا ابْنَ اخِي ابْرَامَ وَامْلاكَهُ وَمَضُوا اذْ كَانَ سَاكِنا

فِي سَدُومَ. فَاتَى مَنْ نَجَا وَاخْبَرَ ابْرَامَ الْعِبْرَانِيَّ. وَكَانَ سَاكِنا عِنْدَ بَلُّوطَاتِ مَمْرَا الامُورِيِّ اخِي اشْكُولَ وَاخِي عَانِرَ.

وَكَانُوا اصْحَابَ عَهْدٍ مَعَ ابْرَامَ. فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ ابْرَامُ انَّ اخَاهُ سُبِيَ جَرَّ غِلْمَانَهُ الْمُتَمَرِّنِينَ وِلْدَانَ بَيْتِهِ ثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ

وَتَبِعَهُمْ الَى دَانَ. وَانْقَسَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَيْلا هُوَ وَعَبِيدُهُ فَكَسَّرَهُمْ وَتَبِعَهُمْ الَى حُوبَةَ الَّتِي عَنْ شَِمَالِ دِمَشْقَ. وَاسْتَرْجَعَ كُلَّ الامْلاكِ

وَاسْتَرْجَعَ لُوطا اخَاهُ ايْضا وَامْلاكَهُ وَالنِّسَاءَ ايْضا وَالشَّعْبَ. فَخَرَجَ مَلِكُ سَدُومَ لِاسْتِقْبَالِهِ بَعْدَ رُجُوعِهِ مِنْ كَسْرَةِ كَدَرْلَعَوْمَرَ

وَالْمُلُوكِ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ الَى عُمْقِ شَوَى (الَّذِي هُوَ عُمْقُ الْمَلِكِ). وَمَلْكِي صَادِقُ مَلِكُ شَالِيمَ اخْرَجَ خُبْزا وَخَمْرا. وَكَانَ كَاهِنا

لِلَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ. وَبَارَكَهُ وَقَالَ: «مُبَارَكٌ ابْرَامُ مِنَ اللهِ الْعَلِيِّ مَالِكِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالارْضِ وَمُبَارَكٌ اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الَّذِي اسْلَمَ اعْدَاءَكَ فِي

يَدِكَ». فَاعْطَاهُ عُشْرا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ. وَقَالَ مَلِكُ سَدُومَ لابْرَامَ: «اعْطِنِي النُّفُوسَ وَامَّا الامْلاكَ فَخُذْهَا لِنَفْسِكَ». فَقَالَ ابْرَامُ

لِمَلِكِ سَدُومَ: «رَفَعْتُ يَدِي الَى الرَّبِّ الالَهِ الْعَلِيِّ مَالِكِ السَّمَاءِ وَالارْضِ لا اخُذَنَّ لا خَيْطا وَلا شِرَاكَ نَعْلٍ وَلا مِنْ كُلِّ مَا

هُوَ لَكَ فَلا تَقُولُ: انَا اغْنَيْتُ ابْرَامَ. لَيْسَ لِي غَيْرَ الَّذِي اكَلَهُ الْغِلْمَانُ. وَامَّا نَصِيبُ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا مَعِي: عَانِرَ

وَاشْكُولَ وَمَمْرَا فَهُمْ يَاخُذُونَ نَصِيبَهُمْ».

Genesis 14

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations,* that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar). All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea). Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and attacked the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim, and the Horites in their mountain of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is by the wilderness. Then they turned back and came to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and attacked all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazezon Tamar. And the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out and joined together in battle in the Valley of Siddim against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of nations, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar--four kings against five. Now the Valley of Siddim was full of asphalt pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled; some fell there, and the remainder fled to the mountains. Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. They also took Lot, Abram's brother's son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they were allies with Abram. Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him. Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." And he gave him a tithe of all.

Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself." But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich'-- except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion."

Kejadian 14

1 Pada zaman Amrafel, raja Sinear, Ariokh, raja Elasar, Kedorlaomer, raja Elam, dan Tideal, raja Goyim, terjadilah,

2 bahwa raja-raja ini berperang melawan Bera, raja Sodom, Birsya, raja Gomora, Syinab, raja Adma, Syemeber, raja Zeboim dan raja negeri Bela, yakni negeri Zoar.

3 Raja-raja yang disebut terakhir ini semuanya bersekutu dan datang ke lembah Sidim, yakni Laut Asin.

4 Dua belas tahun lamanya mereka takluk kepada Kedorlaomer, tetapi dalam tahun yang ketiga belas mereka memberontak.

5 Dalam tahun yang keempat belas datanglah Kedorlaomer serta raja-raja yang bersama-sama dengan dia, lalu mereka mengalahkan orang Refaim di Asyterot-Karnaim, orang Zuzim di Ham, orang Emim di Syawe-Kiryataim

6 dan orang Hori di pegunungan mereka yang bernama Seir, sampai ke El-Paran di tepi padang gurun.

7 Sesudah itu baliklah mereka dan sampai ke En-Mispat, yakni Kadesh, dan mengalahkan seluruh daerah orang Amalek, dan juga orang Amori, yang diam di Hazezon-Tamar.

8 Lalu keluarlah raja negeri Sodom, raja negeri Gomora, raja negeri Adma, raja negeri Zeboim dan raja negeri Bela, yakni negeri Zoar, dan mengatur barisan perangnya melawan mereka di lembah Sidim,

9 melawan Kedorlaomer, raja Elam, Tideal, raja Goyim, Amrafel, raja Sinear, dan Ariokh, raja Elasar, empat raja lawan lima.

10 Di lembah Sidim itu di mana-mana ada sumur aspal. Ketika raja Sodom dan raja Gomora melarikan diri, jatuhlah mereka ke dalamnya, dan orang-orang yang masih tinggal hidup melarikan diri ke pegunungan.

11 Segala harta benda Sodom dan Gomora beserta segala bahan makanan dirampas musuh, lalu mereka pergi.

12 Juga Lot, anak saudara Abram, beserta harta bendanya, dibawa musuh, lalu mereka pergi -- sebab Lot itu diam di Sodom.

13 Kemudian datanglah seorang pelarian dan menceritakan hal ini kepada Abram, orang Ibrani
itu, yang tinggal dekat pohon-pohon tarbantin kepunyaan Mamre, orang Amori itu, saudara Eskol dan Aner, yakni teman-teman sekutu Abram.

14 Ketika Abram mendengar, bahwa anak saudaranya tertawan, maka dikerahkannyalah orang-orangnya yang terlatih, yakni mereka yang lahir di rumahnya, tiga ratus delapan belas orang banyaknya, lalu mengejar musuh sampai ke Dan.

15 Dan pada waktu malam berbagilah mereka, ia dan hamba-hambanya itu, untuk melawan musuh; mereka mengalahkan dan mengejar musuh sampai ke Hoba di sebelah utara Damsyik.

16 Dibawanyalah kembali segala harta benda itu; juga Lot, anak saudaranya itu, serta harta bendanya dibawanya kembali, demikian juga perempuan-perempuan dan orang-orangnya.

17 Setelah Abram kembali dari mengalahkan Kedorlaomer dan para raja yang bersama-sama dengan dia, maka keluarlah raja Sodom menyongsong dia ke lembah Syawe, yakni Lembah Raja.

18 Melkisedek, raja Salem, membawa roti dan anggur; ia seorang imam Allah Yang Mahatinggi.

19 Lalu ia memberkati Abram, katanya: ''Diberkatilah kiranya Abram oleh Allah Yang Mahatinggi, Pencipta langit dan bumi,

20 dan terpujilah Allah Yang Mahatinggi, yang telah menyerahkan musuhmu ke tanganmu.'' Lalu Abram memberikan kepadanya sepersepuluh dari semuanya.

21 Berkatalah raja Sodom itu kepada Abram: ''Berikanlah kepadaku orang-orang itu, dan ambillah untukmu harta benda itu.''

22 Tetapi kata Abram kepada raja negeri Sodom itu: ''Aku bersumpah demi TUHAN, Allah Yang Mahatinggi, Pencipta langit dan bumi:

23 Aku tidak akan mengambil apa-apa dari kepunyaanmu itu, sepotong benang atau tali kasut pun tidak, supaya engkau jangan dapat berkata: Aku telah membuat Abram menjadi kaya.

24 Kalau aku, jangan sekali-kali! Hanya apa yang telah dimakan oleh bujang-bujang ini dan juga bagian orang-orang yang pergi bersama-sama dengan aku, yakni Aner, Eskol dan Mamre, biarlah mereka itu mengambil bagiannya masing-masing.''

فَصَعِدَ ابْرَامُ مِنْ مِصْرَ هُوَ وَامْرَاتُهُ وَكُلُّ مَا كَانَ لَهُ وَلُوطٌ مَعَهُ الَى الْجَنُوبِ. وَكَانَ ابْرَامُ غَنِيّا جِدّا فِي الْمَوَاشِي وَالْفِضَّةِ

وَالذَّهَبِ. وَسَارَ فِي رِحْلاتِهِ مِنَ الْجَنُوبِ الَى بَيْتِ ايلَ الَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي كَانَتْ خَيْمَتُهُ فِيهِ فِي الْبَدَاءَةِ بَيْنَ بَيْتِ ايلَ وَعَايَ

الَى مَكَانِ الْمَذْبَحِ الَّذِي عَمِلَهُ هُنَاكَ اوَّلا. وَدَعَا هُنَاكَ ابْرَامُ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ. وَلُوطٌ السَّائِرُ مَعَ ابْرَامَ كَانَ لَهُ ايْضا غَنَمٌ وَبَقَرٌ

وَخِيَامٌ. وَلَمْ تَحْتَمِلْهُمَا الارْضُ انْ يَسْكُنَا مَعا اذْ كَانَتْ امْلاكُهُمَا كَثِيرَةً فَلَمْ يَقْدِرَا انْ يَسْكُنَا مَعا. فَحَدَثَتْ مُخَاصَمَةٌ بَيْنَ رُعَاةِ

مَوَاشِي ابْرَامَ وَرُعَاةِ مَوَاشِي لُوطٍ. وَكَانَ الْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ وَالْفِرِزِّيُّونَ حِينَئِذٍ سَاكِنِينَ فِي الارْضِ. فَقَالَ ابْرَامُ لِلُوطٍ: «لا تَكُنْ

مُخَاصَمَةٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ رُعَاتِي وَرُعَاتِكَ لانَّنَا نَحْنُ اخَوَانِ. الَيْسَتْ كُلُّ الارْضِ امَامَكَ؟ اعْتَزِلْ عَنِّي. انْ ذَهَبْتَ شِمَالا

فَانَا يَمِينا وَانْ يَمِينا فَانَا شِمَالا». فَرَفَعَ لُوطٌ عَيْنَيْهِ وَرَاى كُلَّ دَائِرَةِ الارْدُنِّ انَّ جَمِيعَهَا سَقْيٌ قَبْلَمَا اخْرَبَ الرَّبُّ سَدُومَ

وَعَمُورَةَ كَجَنَّةِ الرَّبِّ كَارْضِ مِصْرَ. حِينَمَا تَجِيءُ الَى صُوغَرَ. فَاخْتَارَ لُوطٌ لِنَفْسِهِ كُلَّ دَائِرَةِ الارْدُنِّ وَارْتَحَلَ لُوطٌ شَرْقا.

فَاعْتَزَلَ الْوَاحِدُ عَنِ الْاخَرِ. ابْرَامُ سَكَنَ فِي ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ وَلُوطٌ سَكَنَ فِي مُدُنِ الدَّائِرَةِ وَنَقَلَ خِيَامَهُ الَى سَدُومَ. وَكَانَ اهْلُ

سَدُومَ اشْرَارا وَخُطَاةً لَدَى الرَّبِّ جِدّا. وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لابْرَامَ بَعْدَ اعْتِزَالِ لُوطٍ عَنْهُ: «ارْفَعْ عَيْنَيْكَ وَانْظُرْ مِنَ الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي

انْتَ فِيهِ شِمَالا وَجَنُوبا وَشَرْقا وَغَرْبا لانَّ جَمِيعَ الارْضِ الَّتِي انْتَ تَرَى لَكَ اعْطِيهَا وَلِنَسْلِكَ الَى الابَدِ. وَاجْعَلُ نَسْلَكَ

كَتُرَابِ الارْضِ حَتَّى اذَا اسْتَطَاعَ احَدٌ انْ يَعُدَّ تُرَابَ الارْضِ فَنَسْلُكَ ايْضا يُعَدُّ. قُمِ امْشِ فِي الارْضِ طُولَهَا وَعَرْضَهَا لانِّي

لَكَ اعْطِيهَا». فَنَقَلَ ابْرَامُ خِيَامَهُ وَاتَى وَاقَامَ عِنْدَ بَلُّوطَاتِ مَمْرَا الَّتِي فِي حَبْرُونَ وَبَنَى هُنَاكَ مَذْبَحا لِلرَّبِّ.

تكوين 13

Genesis 13

Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South.* Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land. So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left."

And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.

And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are--northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you." Then Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the Lord.

Kejadian 13

1 Maka pergilah Abram dari Mesir ke Tanah Negeb dengan isterinya dan segala kepunyaannya, dan Lot pun bersama-sama dengan dia.

2 Adapun Abram sangat kaya, banyak ternak, perak dan emasnya.

3 Ia berjalan dari tempat persinggahan ke tempat persinggahan, dari Tanah Negeb sampai dekat Betel, di mana kemahnya mula-mula berdiri, antara Betel dan Ai,

4 ke tempat mezbah yang dibuatnya dahulu di sana; di situlah Abram memanggil nama TUHAN.

5 Juga Lot, yang ikut bersama-sama dengan Abram, mempunyai domba dan lembu dan kemah.

6 Tetapi negeri itu tidak cukup luas bagi mereka untuk diam bersama-sama, sebab harta milik mereka amat banyak, sehingga mereka tidak dapat diam bersama-sama.

7 Karena itu terjadilah perkelahian antara para gembala Abram dan para gembala Lot. Waktu itu orang Kanaan dan orang Feris diam di negeri itu.

8 Maka berkatalah Abram kepada Lot: ''Janganlah kiranya ada perkelahian antara aku dan engkau, dan antara para gembalaku dan para gembalamu, sebab kita ini kerabat.

9 Bukankah seluruh negeri ini terbuka untuk engkau? Baiklah pisahkan dirimu dari padaku; jika engkau ke kiri, maka aku ke kanan, jika engkau ke kanan, maka aku ke kiri.''

10 Lalu Lot melayangkan pandangnya dan dilihatnyalah, bahwa seluruh Lembah Yordan banyak airnya, seperti taman TUHAN, seperti tanah Mesir, sampai ke Zoar. -- Hal itu terjadi sebelum TUHAN memusnahkan Sodom dan Gomora. --

11 Sebab itu Lot memilih baginya seluruh Lembah Yordan itu, lalu ia berangkat ke sebelah timur dan mereka berpisah.

12 Abram menetap di tanah Kanaan, tetapi Lot menetap di kota-kota Lembah Yordan dan berkemah di dekat Sodom.

13 Adapun orang Sodom sangat jahat dan berdosa terhadap TUHAN.

14 Setelah Lot berpisah dari pada Abram, berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Abram: ''Pandanglah sekelilingmu dan lihatlah dari tempat engkau berdiri itu ke timur dan barat, utara dan selatan,

15 sebab seluruh negeri yang kaulihat itu akan Kuberikan kepadamu dan kepada keturunanmu untuk selama-lamanya.

16 Dan Aku akan menjadikan keturunanmu seperti debu tanah banyaknya, sehingga, jika seandainya ada yang dapat menghitung debu tanah, keturunanmu pun akan dapat dihitung juga.

17 Bersiaplah, jalanilah negeri itu menurut panjang dan lebarnya, sebab kepadamulah akan Kuberikan negeri itu.''

18 Sesudah itu Abram memindahkan kemahnya dan menetap di dekat pohon-pohon tarbantin di Mamre, dekat Hebron, lalu didirikannyalah mezbah di situ bagi TUHAN.

وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ لابْرَامَ: «اذْهَبْ مِنْ ارْضِكَ وَمِنْ عَشِيرَتِكَ وَمِنْ بَيْتِ ابِيكَ الَى الارْضِ الَّتِي ارِيكَ. فَاجْعَلَكَ امَّةً عَظِيمَةً

وَابَارِكَكَ وَاعَظِّمَ اسْمَكَ وَتَكُونَ بَرَكَةً. وَابَارِكُ مُبَارِكِيكَ وَلاعِنَكَ الْعَنُهُ. وَتَتَبَارَكُ فِيكَ جَمِيعُ قَبَائِلِ الارْضِ». فَذَهَبَ ابْرَامُ

كَمَا قَالَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ وَذَهَبَ مَعَهُ لُوطٌ. وَكَانَ ابْرَامُ ابْنَ خَمْسٍ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً لَمَّا خَرَجَ مِنْ حَارَانَ. فَاخَذَ ابْرَامُ سَارَايَ امْرَاتَهُ

وَلُوطا ابْنَ اخِيهِ وَكُلَّ مُقْتَنَيَاتِهِمَا الَّتِي اقْتَنَيَا وَالنُّفُوسَ الَّتِي امْتَلَكَا فِي حَارَانَ. وَخَرَجُوا لِيَذْهَبُوا الَى ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ. فَاتُوا الَى

ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ. وَاجْتَازَ ابْرَامُ فِي الارْضِ الَى مَكَانِ شَكِيمَ الَى بَلُّوطَةِ مُورَةَ. وَكَانَ الْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ حِينَئِذٍ فِي الارْضِ. وَظَهَرَ

الرَّبُّ لابْرَامَ وَقَالَ: «لِنَسْلِكَ اعْطِي هَذِهِ الارْضَ». فَبَنَى هُنَاكَ مَذْبَحا لِلرَّبِّ الَّذِي ظَهَرَ لَهُ. ثُمَّ نَقَلَ مِنْ هُنَاكَ الَى الْجَبَلِ

شَرْقِيَّ بَيْتِ ايلٍ وَنَصَبَ خَيْمَتَهُ. وَلَهُ بَيْتُ ايلَ مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَعَايُ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ. فَبَنَى هُنَاكَ مَذْبَحا لِلرَّبِّ وَدَعَا بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ.

ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلَ ابْرَامُ ارْتِحَالا مُتَوَالِيا نَحْوَ الْجَنُوبِ. وَحَدَثَ جُوعٌ فِي الارْضِ فَانْحَدَرَ ابْرَامُ الَى مِصْرَ لِيَتَغَرَّبَ هُنَاكَ لانَّ الْجُوعَ

فِي الارْضِ كَانَ شَدِيدا. وَحَدَثَ لَمَّا قَرُبَ انْ يَدْخُلَ مِصْرَ انَّهُ قَالَ لِسَارَايَ امْرَاتِهِ: «انِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ انَّكِ امْرَاةٌ حَسَنَةُ

الْمَنْظَرِ. فَيَكُونُ اذَا رَاكِ الْمِصْرِيُّونَ انَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: هَذِهِ امْرَاتُهُ. فَيَقْتُلُونَنِي وَيَسْتَبْقُونَكِ. قُولِي انَّكِ اخْتِي لِيَكُونَ لِي خَيْرٌ

بِسَبَبِكِ وَتَحْيَا نَفْسِي مِنْ اجْلِكِ». فَحَدَثَ لَمَّا دَخَلَ ابْرَامُ الَى مِصْرَ انَّ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ رَاوُا الْمَرْاةَ انَّهَا حَسَنَةٌ جِدّا. وَرَاهَا

رُؤَسَاءُ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَدَحُوهَا لَدَى فِرْعَوْنَ فَاخِذَتِ الْمَرْاةُ الَى بَيْتِ فِرْعَوْنَ فَصَنَعَ الَى ابْرَامَ خَيْرا بِسَبَبِهَا وَصَارَ لَهُ غَنَمٌ وَبَقَرٌ

وَحَمِيرٌ وَعَبِيدٌ وَامَاءٌ وَاتُنٌ وَجِمَالٌ. فَضَرَبَ الرَّبُّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَبَيْتَهُ ضَرَبَاتٍ عَظِيمَةً بِسَبَبِ سَارَايَ امْرَاةِ ابْرَامَ. فَدَعَا فِرْعَوْنُ

ابْرَامَ وَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَا الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ بِي؟ لِمَاذَا لَمْ تُخْبِرْنِي انَّهَا امْرَاتُكَ؟ لِمَاذَا قُلْتَ هِيَ اخْتِي حَتَّى اخَذْتُهَا لِي لِتَكُونَ

زَوْجَتِي؟ وَالْانَ هُوَذَا امْرَاتُكَ! خُذْهَا وَاذْهَبْ!». فَاوْصَى عَلَيْهِ فِرْعَوْنُ رِجَالا فَشَيَّعُوهُ وَامْرَاتَهُ وَكُلَّ مَا كَانَ لَهُ.

Genesis 12

Now the Lord had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.

Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land. Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.

Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land. And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you."

So it was, when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians saw the woman, that she was very beautiful. The princes of Pharaoh also saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh's house. He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels. But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. And Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? Why did you say, 'She is my sister'? I might have taken her as my wife. Now therefore, here is your wife; take her and go your way." So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.

Kejadian 12

1 Berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Abram: ''Pergilah dari negerimu dan dari sanak saudaramu dan dari rumah bapamu ini ke negeri yang akan Kutunjukkan kepadamu;

2 Aku akan membuat engkau menjadi bangsa yang besar, dan memberkati engkau serta membuat namamu masyhur; dan engkau akan menjadi berkat.

3 Aku akan memberkati orang-orang yang memberkati engkau, dan mengutuk orang-orang yang mengutuk engkau, dan olehmu semua kaum di muka bumi akan mendapat berkat.''

4 Lalu pergilah Abram seperti yang difirmankan TUHAN kepadanya, dan Lot pun ikut bersama-sama dengan dia; Abram berumur tujuh puluh lima tahun, ketika ia berangkat dari Haran.

5 Abram membawa Sarai, isterinya, dan Lot, anak saudaranya, dan segala harta benda yang didapat mereka dan orang-orang yang diperoleh mereka di Haran; mereka berangkat ke tanah Kanaan, lalu sampai di situ.

6 Abram berjalan melalui negeri itu sampai ke suatu tempat dekat Sikhem, yakni pohon tarbantin di More. Waktu itu orang Kanaan diam di negeri itu.

7 Ketika itu TUHAN menampakkan diri kepada Abram dan berfirman: ''Aku akan memberikan negeri ini kepada keturunanmu.'' Maka didirikannya di situ mezbah bagi TUHAN yang telah menampakkan diri kepadanya.

8 Kemudian ia pindah dari situ ke pegunungan di sebelah timur Betel. Ia memasang kemahnya dengan Betel di sebelah barat dan Ai di sebelah timur, lalu ia mendirikan di situ mezbah bagi TUHAN dan memanggil nama TUHAN.

9 Sesudah itu Abram berangkat dan makin jauh ia berjalan ke Tanah Negeb.

10 Ketika kelaparan timbul di negeri itu, pergilah Abram ke Mesir untuk tinggal di situ sebagai orang asing, sebab hebat kelaparan di negeri itu.

11 Pada waktu ia akan masuk ke Mesir, berkatalah ia kepada Sarai, isterinya: ''Memang aku tahu, bahwa engkau adalah seorang perempuan yang cantik parasnya.

12 Apabila orang Mesir melihat engkau, mereka akan berkata: Itu isterinya. Jadi mereka akan membunuh aku dan membiarkan engkau hidup.

13 Katakanlah, bahwa engkau adikku, supaya aku diperlakukan mereka dengan baik karena engkau, dan aku dibiarkan hidup oleh sebab engkau.''

14 Sesudah Abram masuk ke Mesir, orang Mesir itu melihat, bahwa perempuan itu sangat cantik,

15 dan ketika punggawa-punggawa Firaun melihat Sarai, mereka memuji-mujinya di hadapan Firaun, sehingga perempuan itu dibawa ke istananya.

16 Firaun menyambut Abram dengan baik-baik, karena ia mengingini perempuan itu, dan Abram mendapat kambing domba, lembu sapi, keledai jantan, budak laki-laki dan perempuan, keledai betina dan unta.

17 Tetapi TUHAN menimpakan tulah yang hebat kepada Firaun, demikian juga kepada seisi istananya, karena Sarai, isteri Abram itu.

18 Lalu Firaun memanggil Abram serta berkata: ''Apakah yang kauperbuat ini terhadap aku? Mengapa tidak kauberitahukan, bahwa ia isterimu?

19 Mengapa engkau katakan: dia adikku, sehingga aku mengambilnya menjadi isteriku? Sekarang, inilah isterimu, ambillah dan pergilah!''

20 Lalu Firaun memerintahkan beberapa orang untuk mengantarkan Abram pergi, bersama-sama dengan isterinya dan segala kepunyaannya.

تكوين - Genesis 11 - Kejadian 11

وَكَانَتِ الارْضُ كُلُّهَا لِسَانا وَاحِدا وَلُغَةً وَاحِدَةً. وَحَدَثَ فِي ارْتِحَالِهِمْ شَرْقا انَّهُمْ وَجَدُوا بُقْعَةً فِي ارْضِ شِنْعَارَ وَسَكَنُوا

هُنَاكَ. وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «هَلُمَّ نَصْنَعُ لِبْنا وَنَشْوِيهِ شَيّا». فَكَانَ لَهُمُ اللِّبْنُ مَكَانَ الْحَجَرِ وَكَانَ لَهُمُ الْحُمَرُ مَكَانَ الطِّينِ.

وَقَالُوا: «هَلُمَّ نَبْنِ لانْفُسِنَا مَدِينَةً وَبُرْجا رَاسُهُ بِالسَّمَاءِ. وَنَصْنَعُ لانْفُسِنَا اسْما لِئَلَّا نَتَبَدَّدَ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ الارْضِ». فَنَزَلَ الرَّبُّ

لِيَنْظُرَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالْبُرْجَ اللَّذَيْنِ كَانَ بَنُو ادَمَ يَبْنُونَهُمَا. وَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: «هُوَذَا شَعْبٌ وَاحِدٌ وَلِسَانٌ وَاحِدٌ لِجَمِيعِهِمْ وَهَذَا ابْتِدَاؤُهُمْ

بِالْعَمَلِ. وَالْانَ لا يَمْتَنِعُ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلُّ مَا يَنْوُونَ انْ يَعْمَلُوهُ. هَلُمَّ نَنْزِلْ وَنُبَلْبِلْ هُنَاكَ لِسَانَهُمْ حَتَّى لا يَسْمَعَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِسَانَ

بَعْضٍ». فَبَدَّدَهُمُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ هُنَاكَ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ الارْضِ فَكَفُّوا عَنْ بُنْيَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَ اسْمُهَا «بَابِلَ» لانَّ الرَّبَّ

هُنَاكَ بَلْبَلَ لِسَانَ كُلِّ الارْضِ. وَمِنْ هُنَاكَ بَدَّدَهُمُ الرَّبُّ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ الارْضِ. هَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ سَامٍ: لَمَّا كَانَ سَامٌ ابْنَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ

وَلَدَ ارْفَكْشَادَ بَعْدَ الطُّوفَانِ بِسَنَتَيْنِ. وَعَاشَ سَامٌ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ ارْفَكْشَادَ خَمْسَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ ارْفَكْشَادُ

خَمْسا وَثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ شَالَحَ. وَعَاشَ ارْفَكْشَادُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ شَالَحَ ارْبَعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثَ سِنِينَ وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ شَالَحُ

ثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ عَابِرَ. وَعَاشَ شَالَحُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ عَابِرَ ارْبَعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلاثَ سِنِينَ وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ عَابِرُ ارْبَعا وَثَلاثِينَ

رَعُو بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ سَرُوجَ مِئَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعَ سِنِينَ وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ سَرُوجُ ثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ نَاحُورَ. وَعَاشَ سَرُوجُ بَعْدَ

مَا وَلَدَ نَاحُورَ مِئَتَيْ سَنَةٍ وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ نَاحُورُ تِسْعا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ تَارَحَ. وَعَاشَ نَاحُورُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ تَارَحَ

مِئَةً وَتِسْعَ عَشَرَةَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. وَعَاشَ تَارَحُ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ ابْرَامَ وَنَاحُورَ وَهَارَانَ. وَهَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ تَارَحَ: وَلَدَ

تَارَحُ ابْرَامَ وَنَاحُورَ وَهَارَانَ. وَوَلَدَ هَارَانُ لُوطا. وَمَاتَ هَارَانُ قَبْلَ تَارَحَ ابِيهِ فِي ارْضِ مِيلادِهِ فِي اورِ الْكِلْدَانِيِّينَ. وَاتَّخَذَ

ابْرَامُ وَنَاحُورُ لَهُمَا امْرَاتَيْنِ: اسْمُ امْرَاةِ ابْرَامَ سَارَايُ وَاسْمُ امْرَاةِ نَاحُورَ مِلْكَةُ بِنْتُ هَارَانَ ابِي مِلْكَةَ وَابِي يِسْكَةَ. وَكَانَتْ

سَارَايُ عَاقِرا لَيْسَ لَهَا وَلَدٌ. وَاخَذَ تَارَحُ ابْرَامَ ابْنَهُ وَلُوطا بْنَ هَارَانَ ابْنَ ابْنِهِ وَسَارَايَ كَنَّتَهُ امْرَاةَ ابْرَامَ ابْنِهِ فَخَرَجُوا مَعا

مِنْ اورِ الْكِلْدَانِيِّينَ لِيَذْهَبُوا الَى ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ. فَاتُوا الَى حَارَانَ وَاقَامُوا هُنَاكَ. وَكَانَتْ ايَّامُ تَارَحَ مِئَتَيْنِ وَخَمْسَ سِنِينَ.

وَمَاتَ تَارَحُ فِي حَارَانَ.

Genesis 11

Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth."

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

This is the genealogy of Shem: Shem was one hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood. After he begot Arphaxad, Shem lived five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Salah. After he begot Salah, Arphaxad lived four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters. Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber. After he begot Eber, Salah lived four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters. Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg. After he begot Peleg, Eber lived four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters. Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu. After he begot Reu, Peleg lived two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters. Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug. After he begot Serug, Reu lived two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters. Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. After he begot Nahor, Serug lived two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters. Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans. Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. But Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there. So the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.

Kejadian 11

1 Adapun seluruh bumi, satu bahasanya dan satu logatnya.

2 Maka berangkatlah mereka ke sebelah timur dan menjumpai tanah datar di tanah Sinear, lalu menetaplah mereka di sana.

3 Mereka berkata seorang kepada yang lain: ''Marilah kita membuat batu bata dan membakarnya baik-baik.'' Lalu bata itulah dipakai mereka sebagai batu dan t'er gala-gala sebagai tanah liat.

4 Juga kata mereka: ''Marilah kita dirikan bagi kita sebuah kota dengan sebuah menara yang puncaknya sampai ke langit, dan marilah kita cari nama, supaya kita jangan terserak ke seluruh bumi.''

5 Lalu turunlah TUHAN untuk melihat kota dan menara yang didirikan oleh anak-anak manusia itu,

6 dan Ia berfirman: ''Mereka ini satu bangsa dengan satu bahasa untuk semuanya. Ini barulah permulaan usaha mereka; mulai dari sekarang apa pun juga yang mereka rencanakan, tidak ada yang tidak akan dapat terlaksana.

7 Baiklah Kita turun dan mengacaubalaukan di sana bahasa mereka, sehingga mereka tidak mengerti lagi bahasa masing-masing.''

8 Demikianlah mereka diserakkan TUHAN dari situ ke seluruh bumi, dan mereka berhenti mendirikan kota itu.

9 Itulah sebabnya sampai sekarang nama kota itu disebut Babel, karena di situlah dikacaubalaukan TUHAN bahasa seluruh bumi dan dari situlah mereka diserakkan TUHAN ke seluruh bumi.

10 Inilah keturunan Sem. Setelah Sem berumur seratus tahun, ia memperanakkan Arpakhsad, dua tahun setelah air bah itu.

11 Sem masih hidup lima ratus tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Arpakhsad, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

12 Setelah Arpakhsad hidup tiga puluh lima tahun, ia memperanakkan Selah.

13 Arpakhsad masih hidup empat ratus tiga tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Selah, dan ia
memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

14 Setelah Selah hidup tiga puluh tahun, ia memperanakkan Eber.

15 Selah masih hidup empat ratus tiga tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Eber, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

16 Setelah Eber hidup tiga puluh empat tahun, ia memperanakkan Peleg.

17 Eber masih hidup empat ratus tiga puluh tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Peleg, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

18 Setelah Peleg hidup tiga puluh tahun, ia memperanakkan Rehu.

19 Peleg masih hidup dua ratus sembilan tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Rehu, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

20 Setelah Rehu hidup tiga puluh dua tahun, ia memperanakkan Serug.

21 Rehu masih hidup dua ratus tujuh tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Serug, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

22 Setelah Serug hidup tiga puluh tahun, ia memperanakkan Nahor.

23 Serug masih hidup dua ratus tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Nahor, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

24 Setelah Nahor hidup dua puluh sembilan tahun, ia memperanakkan Terah.

25 Nahor masih hidup seratus sembilan belas tahun, setelah ia memperanakkan Terah, dan ia memperanakkan anak-anak lelaki dan perempuan.

26 Setelah Terah hidup tujuh puluh tahun, ia memperanakkan Abram, Nahor dan Haran.

27 Inilah keturunan Terah. Terah memperanakkan Abram, Nahor dan Haran, dan Haran memperanakkan Lot.

28 Ketika Terah, ayahnya, masih hidup, matilah Haran di negeri kelahirannya, di Ur-Kasdim.

29 Abram dan Nahor kedua-duanya kawin; nama isteri Abram ialah Sarai, dan nama isteri Nahor ialah Milka, anak Haran ayah Milka dan Yiska.

30 Sarai itu mandul, tidak mempunyai anak.

31 Lalu Terah membawa Abram, anaknya, serta cucunya, Lot, yaitu anak Haran, dan Sarai, menantunya, isteri Abram, anaknya; ia berangkat bersama-sama dengan mereka dari Ur-Kasdim untuk pergi ke tanah Kanaan, lalu sampailah mereka ke Haran, dan menetap di sana.

32 Umur Terah ada dua ratus lima tahun; lalu ia mati di Haran.
