وَكَانَ فِي الارْضِ جُوعٌ غَيْرُ الْجُوعِ الاوَّلِ الَّذِي كَانَ فِي ايَّامِ ابْرَاهِيمَ فَذَهَبَ اسْحَاقُ الَى ابِيمَالِكَ مَلِكِ الْفَلَسْطِينِيِّينَ الَى

جَرَارَ. وَظَهَرَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ وَقَالَ: «لا تَنْزِلْ الَى مِصْرَ. اسْكُنْ فِي الارْضِ الَّتِي اقُولُ لَكَ. تَغَرَّبْ فِي هَذِهِ الارْضِ فَاكُونَ مَعَكَ

وَابَارِكَكَ لانِّي لَكَ وَلِنَسْلِكَ اعْطِي جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْبِلادِ وَافِي بِالْقَسَمِ الَّذِي اقْسَمْتُ لابْرَاهِيمَ ابِيكَ. وَاكَثِّرُ نَسْلَكَ كَنُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ

وَاعْطِي نَسْلَكَ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْبِلادِ وَتَتَبَارَكُ فِي نَسْلِكَ جَمِيعُ امَمِ الارْضِ مِنْ اجْلِ انَّ ابْرَاهِيمَ سَمِعَ لِقَوْلِي وَحَفِظَ مَا يُحْفَظُ لِي:

اوَامِرِي وَفَرَائِضِي وَشَرَائِعِي». فَاقَامَ اسْحَاقُ فِي جَرَارَ. وَسَالَهُ اهْلُ الْمَكَانِ عَنِ امْرَاتِهِ فَقَالَ: «هِيَ اخْتِي». لانَّهُ خَافَ انْ

يَقُولَ «امْرَاتِي» لَعَلَّ اهْلَ الْمَكَانِ «يَقْتُلُونَنِي مِنْ اجْلِ رِفْقَةَ» لانَّهَا كَانَتْ حَسَنَةَ الْمَنْظَرِ. وَحَدَثَ اذْ طَالَتْ لَهُ الايَّامُ هُنَاكَ

انَّ ابِيمَالِكَ مَلِكَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ اشْرَفَ مِنَ الْكُوَّةِ وَنَظَرَ وَاذَا اسْحَاقُ يُلاعِبُ رِفْقَةَ امْرَاتَهُ. فَدَعَا ابِيمَالِكُ اسْحَاقَ وَقَالَ: «انَّمَا

هِيَ امْرَاتُكَ! فَكَيْفَ قُلْتَ: هِيَ اخْتِي؟» فَقَالَ لَهُ اسْحَاقُ: «لانِّي قُلْتُ: لَعَلِّي امُوتُ بِسَبَبِهَا». فَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ: «مَا هَذَا الَّذِي

صَنَعْتَ بِنَا؟ لَوْلا قَلِيلٌ لاضْطَجَعَ احَدُ الشَّعْبِ مَعَ امْرَاتِكَ فَجَلَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا ذَنْبا». فَاوْصَى ابِيمَالِكُ جَمِيعَ الشَّعْبِ: «الَّذِي يَمَسُّ

هَذَا الرَّجُلَ اوِ امْرَاتَهُ مَوْتا يَمُوتُ». وَزَرَعَ اسْحَاقُ فِي تِلْكَ الارْضِ فَاصَابَ فِي تِلْكَ السَّنَةِ مِئَةَ ضِعْفٍ وَبَارَكَهُ الرَّبُّ.

فَتَعَاظَمَ الرَّجُلُ وَكَانَ يَتَزَايَدُ فِي التَّعَاظُمِ حَتَّى صَارَ عَظِيما جِدّا. فَكَانَ لَهُ مَوَاشٍ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ وَمَوَاشٍ مِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَعَبِيدٌ

كَثِيرُونَ. فَحَسَدَهُ الْفَلَسْطِينِيُّونَ. وَجَمِيعُ الْابَارِ الَّتِي حَفَرَهَا عَبِيدُ ابِيهِ فِي ايَّامِ ابْرَاهِيمَ ابِيهِ طَمَّهَا الْفَلَسْطِينِيُّونَ وَمَلَاوهَا تُرَابا.

وَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ لاسْحَاقَ: «اذْهَبْ مِنْ عِنْدِنَا لانَّكَ صِرْتَ اقْوَى مِنَّا جِدّا». فَمَضَى اسْحَاقُ مِنْ هُنَاكَ. وَنَزَلَ فِي وَادِي جَرَارَ

وَاقَامَ هُنَاكَ. فَعَادَ اسْحَاقُ وَنَبَشَ ابَارَ الْمَاءِ الَّتِي حَفَرُوهَا فِي ايَّامِ ابْرَاهِيمَ ابِيهِ وَطَمَّهَا الْفَلَسْطِينِيُّونَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِ ابِيهِ وَدَعَاهَا

بِاسْمَاءٍ كَالاسْمَاءِ الَّتِي دَعَاهَا بِهَا ابُوهُ. وَحَفَرَ عَبِيدُ اسْحَاقَ فِي الْوَادِي فَوَجَدُوا هُنَاكَ بِئْرَ مَاءٍ حَيٍّ. فَخَاصَمَ رُعَاةُ جَرَارَ

رُعَاةَ اسْحَاقَ قَائِلِينَ: «لَنَا الْمَاءُ». فَدَعَا اسْمَ الْبِئْرِ «عِسِقَ» لانَّهُمْ نَازَعُوهُ. ثُمَّ حَفَرُوا بِئْرا اخْرَى وَتَخَاصَمُوا عَلَيْهَا ايْضا

فَدَعَا اسْمَهَا «سِطْنَةَ». ثُمَّ نَقَلَ مِنْ هُنَاكَ وَحَفَرَ بِئْرا اخْرَى وَلَمْ يَتَخَاصَمُوا عَلَيْهَا فَدَعَا اسْمَهَا «رَحُوبُوتَ» وَقَالَ: «انَّهُ الْانَ

قَدْ ارْحَبَ لَنَا الرَّبُّ وَاثْمَرْنَا فِي الارْضِ». ثُمَّ صَعِدَ مِنْ هُنَاكَ الَى بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ. فَظَهَرَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ وَقَالَ: «انَا الَهُ

ابْرَاهِيمَ ابِيكَ. لا تَخَفْ لانِّي مَعَكَ وَابَارِكُكَ وَاكَثِّرُ نَسْلَكَ مِنْ اجْلِ ابْرَاهِيمَ عَبْدِي». فَبَنَى هُنَاكَ مَذْبَحا وَدَعَا بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ.

وَنَصَبَ هُنَاكَ خَيْمَتَهُ. وَحَفَرَ هُنَاكَ عَبِيدُ اسْحَاقَ بِئْرا. وَذَهَبَ الَيْهِ مِنْ جَرَارَ ابِيمَالِكُ وَاحُزَّاتُ مِنْ اصْحَابِهِ وَفِيكُولُ رَئِيسُ

جَيْشِهِ. فَقَالَ لَهُمْ اسْحَاقُ: «مَا بَالُكُمْ اتَيْتُمْ الَيَّ وَانْتُمْ قَدْ ابْغَضْتُمُونِي وَصَرَفْتُمُونِي مِنْ عِنْدِكُمْ؟» فَقَالُوا: «انَّنَا قَدْ رَايْنَا انَّ

الرَّبَّ كَانَ مَعَكَ فَقُلْنَا: لِيَكُنْ بَيْنَنَا حَلْفٌ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ وَنَقْطَعُ مَعَكَ عَهْدا: انْ لا تَصْنَعَ بِنَا شَرّا كَمَا لَمْ نَمَسَّكَ وَكَمَا لَمْ نَصْنَعْ

بِكَ الَّا خَيْرا وَصَرَفْنَاكَ بِسَلامٍ. انْتَ الْانَ مُبَارَكُ الرَّبِّ!» فَصَنَعَ لَهُمْ ضِيَافَةً. فَاكَلُوا وَشَرِبُوا ثُمَّ بَكَّرُوا فِي الْغَدِ وَحَلَفُوا

بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ وَصَرَفَهُمْ اسْحَاقُ. فَمَضُوا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ بِسَلامٍ. وَحَدَثَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ انَّ عَبِيدَ اسْحَاقَ جَاءُوا وَاخْبَرُوهُ عَنِ

الْبِئْرِ الَّتِي حَفَرُوا وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «قَدْ وَجَدْنَا مَاءً». فَدَعَاهَا «شِبْعَةَ». لِذَلِكَ اسْمُ الْمَدِينَةِ بِئْرُ سَبْعٍ الَى هَذَا الْيَوْمِ. وَلَمَّا كَانَ

عِيسُو ابْنَ ارْبَعِينَ سَنَةً اتَّخَذَ زَوْجَةً: يَهُودِيتَ ابْنَةَ بِيرِي الْحِثِّيِّ وَبَسْمَةَ ابْنَةَ ايلُونَ الْحِثِّيِّ. فَكَانَتَا مَرَارَةَ نَفْسٍ لاسْحَاقَ وَرِفْقَةَ.

Genesis 26

There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. Then the Lord appeared to him and said: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws."

So Isaac dwelt in Gerar. And the men of the place asked about his wife. And he said, "She is my sister"; for he was afraid to say, "She is my wife," because he thought, "lest the men of the place kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to behold." Now it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked through a window, and saw, and there was Isaac, showing endearment to Rebekah his wife. Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Quite obviously she is your wife; so how could you say, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'Lest I die on account of her.' " And Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the people might soon have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us." So Abimelech charged all his people, saying, "He who touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him. Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth. And Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we." Then Isaac departed from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them. Also Isaac's servants dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, "The water is ours." So he called the name of the well Esek, because they quarreled with him. Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that one also. So he called its name Sitnah. And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, "For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land." Then he went up from there to Beersheba. And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham's sake." So he built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord, and he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac's servants dug a well.

Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army. And Isaac said to them, "Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?" But they said, "We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you. So we said, 'Let there now be an oath between us, between you and us; and let us make a covenant with you, that you will do us no harm, since we have not touched you, and since we have done nothing to you but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the Lord.' " So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. Then they arose early in the morning and swore an oath with one another; and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace. It came to pass the same day that Isaac's servants came and told him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, "We have found water." So he called it Shebah. to this day.

When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite. And they were a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah.

Kejadian 26

1 Maka timbullah kelaparan di negeri itu. -- Ini bukan kelaparan yang pertama, yang telah terjadi dalam zaman Abraham. Sebab itu Ishak pergi ke Gerar, kepada Abimelekh, raja orang Filistin.

2 Lalu TUHAN menampakkan diri kepadanya serta berfirman: ''Janganlah pergi ke Mesir, diamlah di negeri yang akan Kukatakan kepadamu.

3 Tinggallah di negeri ini sebagai orang asing, maka Aku akan menyertai engkau dan memberkati engkau, sebab kepadamulah dan kepada keturunanmu akan Kuberikan seluruh negeri ini, dan Aku akan menepati sumpah yang telah Kuikrarkan kepada Abraham, ayahmu.

4 Aku akan membuat banyak keturunanmu seperti bintang di langit; Aku akan memberikan kepada keturunanmu seluruh negeri ini, dan oleh keturunanmu semua bangsa di bumi akan mendapat berkat,

5 karena Abraham telah mendengarkan firman-Ku dan memelihara kewajibannya kepada-Ku, yaitu segala perintah, ketetapan dan hukum-Ku.''

6 Jadi tinggallah Ishak di Gerar.

7 Ketika orang-orang di tempat itu bertanya tentang isterinya, berkatalah ia: ''Dia saudaraku,'' sebab ia takut mengatakan: ''Ia isteriku,'' karena pikirnya: ''Jangan-jangan aku dibunuh oleh penduduk tempat ini karena Ribka, sebab elok parasnya.''

8 Setelah beberapa lama ia ada di sana, pada suatu kali menjenguklah Abimelekh, raja orang Filistin itu dari jendela, maka dilihatnya Ishak sedang bercumbu-cumbuan dengan Ribka, isterinya.

9 Lalu Abimelekh memanggil Ishak dan berkata: ''Sesungguhnya dia isterimu, masakan engkau berkata: Dia saudaraku?'' Jawab Ishak kepadanya: ''Karena pikirku: Jangan-jangan aku mati karena dia.''

10 Tetapi Abimelekh berkata: ''Apakah juga yang telah kauperbuat ini terhadap kami? Mudah sekali terjadi, salah seorang dari bangsa ini tidur dengan isterimu, sehingga dengan demikian engkau mendatangkan kesalahan atas kami.''

11 Lalu Abimelekh memberi perintah kepada seluruh bangsa itu: ''Siapa yang mengganggu orang
ini atau isterinya, pastilah ia akan dihukum mati.''

12 Maka menaburlah Ishak di tanah itu dan dalam tahun itu juga ia mendapat hasil seratus kali lipat; sebab ia diberkati TUHAN.

13 Dan orang itu menjadi kaya, bahkan kian lama kian kaya, sehingga ia menjadi sangat kaya.

14 Ia mempunyai kumpulan kambing domba dan lembu sapi serta banyak anak buah, sehingga orang Filistin itu cemburu kepadanya.

15 Segala sumur, yang digali dalam zaman Abraham, ayahnya, oleh hamba-hamba ayahnya itu, telah ditutup oleh orang Filistin dan ditimbun dengan tanah.

16 Lalu kata Abimelekh kepada Ishak: ''Pergilah dari tengah-tengah kami sebab engkau telah menjadi jauh lebih berkuasa dari pada kami.''

17 Jadi pergilah Ishak dari situ dan berkemahlah ia di lembah Gerar, dan ia menetap di situ.

18 Kemudian Ishak menggali kembali sumur-sumur yang digali dalam zaman Abraham, ayahnya, dan yang telah ditutup oleh orang Filistin sesudah Abraham mati; disebutkannyalah nama sumur-sumur itu menurut nama-nama yang telah diberikan oleh ayahnya.

19 Ketika hamba-hamba Ishak menggali di lembah itu, mereka mendapati di situ mata air yang berbual-bual airnya.

20 Lalu bertengkarlah para gembala Gerar dengan para gembala Ishak. Kata mereka: ''Air ini kepunyaan kami.'' Dan Ishak menamai sumur itu Esek, karena mereka bertengkar dengan dia di sana.

21 Kemudian mereka menggali sumur lain, dan mereka bertengkar juga tentang itu. Maka Ishak menamai sumur itu Sitna.

22 Ia pindah dari situ dan menggali sumur yang lain lagi, tetapi tentang sumur ini mereka tidak bertengkar. Sumur ini dinamainya Rehobot, dan ia berkata: ''Sekarang TUHAN telah memberikan kelonggaran kepada kita, sehingga kita dapat beranak cucu di negeri ini.''

23 Dari situ ia pergi ke Bersyeba.

24 Lalu pada malam itu TUHAN menampakkan diri kepadanya serta berfirman: ''Akulah Allah ayahmu Abraham; janganlah takut, sebab Aku menyertai engkau; Aku akan memberkati engkau dan membuat banyak keturunanmu karena Abraham, hamba-Ku itu.''

25 Sesudah itu Ishak mendirikan mezbah di situ dan memanggil nama TUHAN. Ia memasang kemahnya di situ, lalu hamba-hambanya menggali sumur di situ.

26 Datanglah Abimelekh dari Gerar mendapatkannya, bersama-sama dengan Ahuzat, sahabatnya, dan Pikhol, kepala pasukannya.

27 Tetapi kata Ishak kepada mereka: ''Mengapa kamu datang mendapatkan aku? Bukankah kamu benci kepadaku, dan telah menyuruh aku keluar dari tanahmu?''

28 Jawab mereka: ''Kami telah melihat sendiri, bahwa TUHAN menyertai engkau; sebab itu kami berkata: baiklah kita mengadakan sumpah setia, antara kami dan engkau; dan baiklah kami mengikat perjanjian dengan engkau,

29 bahwa engkau tidak akan berbuat jahat kepada kami, seperti kami tidak mengganggu engkau, dan seperti kami semata-mata berbuat baik kepadamu dan membiarkan engkau pergi dengan damai; bukankah engkau sekarang yang diberkati TUHAN.''

30 Kemudian Ishak mengadakan perjamuan bagi mereka, lalu mereka makan dan minum.

31 Keesokan harinya pagi-pagi bersumpah-sumpahanlah mereka. Kemudian Ishak melepas mereka, dan mereka meninggalkan dia dengan damai.

32 Pada hari itu datanglah hamba-hamba Ishak memberitahukan kepadanya tentang sumur yang telah digali mereka, serta berkata kepadanya: ''Kami telah mendapat air.''

33 Lalu dinamainyalah sumur itu Syeba. Sebab itu nama kota itu adalah Bersyeba, sampai sekarang.

34 Ketika Esau telah berumur empat puluh tahun, ia mengambil Yudit, anak Beeri orang Het,
dan Basmat, anak Elon orang Het, menjadi isterinya.

35 Kedua perempuan itu menimbulkan kepedihan hati bagi Ishak dan bagi Ribka.

وَعَادَ ابْرَاهِيمُ فَاخَذَ زَوْجَةً اسْمُهَا قَطُورَةُ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ زِمْرَانَ وَيَقْشَانَ وَمَدَانَ وَمِدْيَانَ وَيِشْبَاقَ وَشُوحا. وَوَلَدَ يَقْشَانُ: شَبَا

وَدَدَانَ. وَكَانَ بَنُو دَدَانَ: اشُّورِيمَ وَلَطُوشِيمَ وَلَامِّيمَ. وَبَنُو مِدْيَانَ: عَيْفَةُ وَعِفْرُ وَحَنُوكُ وَابِيدَاعُ وَالْدَعَةُ. جَمِيعُ هَؤُلاءِ بَنُو

قَطُورَةَ. وَاعْطَى ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْحَاقَ كُلَّ مَا كَانَ لَهُ. وَامَّا بَنُو السَّرَارِيِّ اللَّوَاتِي كَانَتْ لابْرَاهِيمَ فَاعْطَاهُمْ ابْرَاهِيمُ عَطَايَا

وَصَرَفَهُمْ عَنْ اسْحَاقَ ابْنِهِ شَرْقا الَى ارْضِ الْمَشْرِقِ وَهُوَ بَعْدُ حَيٌّ. وَهَذِهِ ايَّامُ سِنِي حَيَاةِ ابْرَاهِيمَ الَّتِي عَاشَهَا: مِئَةٌ وَخَمْسٌ

وَسَبْعُونَ سَنَةً. وَاسْلَمَ ابْرَاهِيمُ رُوحَهُ وَمَاتَ بِشَيْبَةٍ صَالِحَةٍ شَيْخا وَشَبْعَانَ ايَّاما وَانْضَمَّ الَى قَوْمِهِ. وَدَفَنَهُ اسْحَاقُ وَاسْمَاعِيلُ

ابْنَاهُ فِي مَغَارَةِ الْمَكْفِيلَةِ فِي حَقْلِ عِفْرُونَ بْنِ صُوحَرَ الْحِثِّيِّ الَّذِي امَامَ مَمْرَا - الْحَقْلِ الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ ابْرَاهِيمُ مِنْ بَنِي حِثٍّ.

هُنَاكَ دُفِنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَسَارَةُ امْرَاتُهُ. وَكَانَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِ ابْرَاهِيمَ انَّ اللهَ بَارَكَ اسْحَاقَ ابْنَهُ. وَسَكَنَ اسْحَاقُ عِنْدَ بِئْرِ لَحَيْ رُئِي.

وَهَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ اسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ ابْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ هَاجَرُ الْمِصْرِيَّةُ جَارِيَةُ سَارَةَ لابْرَاهِيمَ. وَهَذِهِ اسْمَاءُ بَنِي اسْمَاعِيلَ بِاسْمَائِهِمْ

حَسَبَ مَوَالِيدِهِمْ: نَبَايُوتُ بِكْرُ اسْمَاعِيلَ وَقِيدَارُ وَادَبْئِيلُ وَمِبْسَامُ وَمِشْمَاعُ وَدُومَةُ وَمَسَّا وَحَدَارُ وَتَيْمَا وَيَطُورُ وَنَافِيشُ وَقِدْمَةُ.

هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ بَنُو اسْمَاعِيلَ وَهَذِهِ اسْمَاؤُهُمْ بِدِيَارِهِمْ وَحُصُونِهِمْ. اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَئِيسا حَسَبَ قَبَائِلِهِمْ. وَهَذِهِ سِنُو حَيَاةِ اسْمَاعِيلَ: مِئَةٌ

وَسَبْعٌ وَثَلاثُونَ سَنَةً. وَاسْلَمَ رُوحَهُ وَمَاتَ وَانْضَمَّ الَى قَوْمِهِ. (وَسَكَنُوا مِنْ حَوِيلَةَ الَى شُورَ الَّتِي امَامَ مِصْرَ حِينَمَا تَجِيءُ

نَحْوَ اشُّورَ). امَامَ جَمِيعِ اخْوَتِهِ نَزَلَ. وَهَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ اسْحَاقَ بْنِ ابْرَاهِيمَ: وَلَدَ ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْحَاقَ. وَكَانَ اسْحَاقُ ابْنَ ارْبَعِينَ سَنَةً

لَمَّا اتَّخَذَ لِنَفْسِهِ زَوْجَةً رِفْقَةَ بِنْتَ بَتُوئِيلَ الارَامِيِّ اخْتَ لابَانَ الارَامِيِّ مِنْ فَدَّانَِ ارَامَ. وَصَلَّى اسْحَاقُ الَى الرَّبِّ لاجْلِ

امْرَاتِهِ لانَّهَا كَانَتْ عَاقِرا فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ فَحَبِلَتْ رِفْقَةُ امْرَاتُهُ. وَتَزَاحَمَ الْوَلَدَانِ فِي بَطْنِهَا فَقَالَتْ: «انْ كَانَ هَكَذَا فَلِمَاذَا

انَا؟» فَمَضَتْ لِتَسْالَ الرَّبَّ. فَقَالَ لَهَا الرَّبُّ: «فِي بَطْنِكِ امَّتَانِ وَمِنْ احْشَائِكِ يَفْتَرِقُ شَعْبَانِ: شَعْبٌ يَقْوَى عَلَى شَعْبٍ وَكَبِيرٌ

يُسْتَعْبَدُ لِصَغِيرٍ» فَلَمَّا كَمُلَتْ ايَّامُهَا لِتَلِدَ اذَا فِي بَطْنِهَا تَوْامَانِ. فَخَرَجَ الاوَّلُ احْمَرَ كُلُّهُ كَفَرْوَةِ شَعْرٍ فَدَعُوا اسْمَهُ عِيسُوَ.

وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ خَرَجَ اخُوهُ وَيَدُهُ قَابِضَةٌ بِعَقِبِ عِيسُو فَدُعِيَ اسْمُهُ يَعْقُوبَ. وَكَانَ اسْحَاقُ ابْنَ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً لَمَّا وَلَدَتْهُمَا. فَكَبِرَ

الْغُلامَانِ. وَكَانَ عِيسُو انْسَانا يَعْرِفُ الصَّيْدَ انْسَانَ الْبَرِّيَّةِ. وَيَعْقُوبُ انْسَانا كَامِلا يَسْكُنُ الْخِيَامَ. فَاحَبَّ اسْحَاقُ عِيسُوَ لانَّ فِي

فَمِهِ صَيْدا وَامَّا رِفْقَةُ فَكَانَتْ تُحِبُّ يَعْقُوبَ. وَطَبَخَ يَعْقُوبُ طَبِيخا فَاتَى عِيسُو مِنَ الْحَقْلِ وَهُوَ قَدْ اعْيَا. فَقَالَ عِيسُو لِيَعْقُوبَ:

«اطْعِمْنِي مِنْ هَذَا الاحْمَرِ لانِّي قَدْ اعْيَيْتُ. (لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَ اسْمُهُ ادُومَ). فَقَالَ يَعْقُوبُ: «بِعْنِي الْيَوْمَ بَكُورِيَّتَكَ». فَقَالَ عِيسُو:

«هَا انَا مَاضٍ الَى الْمَوْتِ فَلِمَاذَا لِي بَكُورِيَّةٌ؟» فَقَالَ يَعْقُوبُ: «احْلِفْ لِيَ الْيَوْمَ». فَحَلَفَ لَهُ. فَبَاعَ بَكُورِيَّتَهُ لِيَعْقُوبَ.

فَاعْطَى يَعْقُوبُ عِيسُوَ خُبْزا وَطَبِيخَ عَدَسٍ فَاكَلَ وَشَرِبَ وَقَامَ وَمَضَى. فَاحْتَقَرَ عِيسُو الْبَكُورِيَّةَ.

Genesis 25

Abraham again took a wife, and her name was Keturah. And she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim. And the sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah. And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac. But Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had; and while he was still living he sent them eastward, away from Isaac his son, to the country of the east. This is the sum of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred and seventy-five years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people. And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth. There Abraham was buried, and Sarah his wife.

And it came to pass, after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer Lahai Roi. Now this is the genealogy of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maidservant, bore to Abraham. And these were the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These were the sons of Ishmael and these were their names, by their towns and their settlements, twelve princes according to their nations. These were the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred and thirty-seven years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. (They dwelt from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt as you go toward Assyria.) He died in the presence of all his brethren.

This is the genealogy of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham begot Isaac. Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If all is well, why am I like this?" So she went to inquire of the Lord. And the Lord said to her: "Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger." So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them. So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a mild man, dwelling in tents. And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?" Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Kejadian 25

1 Abraham mengambil pula seorang isteri, namanya Ketura.

2 Perempuan itu melahirkan baginya Zimran, Yoksan, Medan, Midian, Isybak dan Suah.

3 Yoksan memperanakkan Syeba dan Dedan. Keturunan Dedan ialah orang Asyur, orang Letush
dan orang Leum.

4 Anak-anak Midian ialah Efa, Efer, Henokh, Abida dan Eldaa. Itulah semuanya keturunan Ketura.

5 Abraham memberikan segala harta miliknya kepada Ishak,

6 tetapi kepada anak-anaknya yang diperolehnya dari gundik-gundiknya ia memberikan pemberian; kemudian ia menyuruh mereka -- masih pada waktu ia hidup -- meninggalkan Ishak, anaknya, dan pergi ke sebelah timur, ke Tanah Timur.

7 Abraham mencapai umur seratus tujuh puluh lima tahun,

8 lalu ia meninggal. Ia mati pada waktu telah putih rambutnya, tua dan suntuk umur, maka ia dikumpulkan kepada kaum leluhurnya.

9 Dan anak-anaknya, Ishak dan Ismael, menguburkan dia dalam gua Makhpela, di padang Efron bin Zohar, orang Het itu, padang yang letaknya di sebelah timur Mamre,

10 yang telah dibeli Abraham dari bani Het; di sanalah terkubur Abraham dan Sara isterinya.

11 Setelah Abraham mati, Allah memberkati Ishak, anaknya itu; dan Ishak diam dekat sumur Lahai-Roi.

12 Inilah keturunan Ismael, anak Abraham, yang telah dilahirkan baginya oleh Hagar, perempuan Mesir, hamba Sara itu.

13 Inilah nama anak-anak Ismael, disebutkan menurut urutan lahirnya: Nebayot, anak sulung Ismael, selanjutnya Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

14 Misyma, Duma, Masa,

15 Hadad, Tema, Yetur, Nafish dan Kedma.

16 Itulah anak-anak Ismael, dan itulah nama-nama mereka, menurut kampung mereka dan menurut perkemahan mereka, dua belas orang raja, masing-masing dengan sukunya.

17 Umur Ismael ialah seratus tiga puluh tujuh tahun. Sesudah itu ia meninggal. Ia mati dan dikumpulkan kepada kaum leluhurnya.

18 Mereka itu mendiami daerah dari Hawila sampai Syur, yang letaknya di sebelah timur Mesir ke arah Asyur. Mereka menetap berhadapan dengan semua saudara mereka.

19 Inilah riwayat keturunan Ishak, anak Abraham. Abraham memperanakkan Ishak.

20 Dan Ishak berumur empat puluh tahun, ketika Ribka, anak Betuel, orang Aram dari Padan-Aram, saudara perempuan Laban orang Aram itu, diambilnya menjadi isterinya.

21 Berdoalah Ishak kepada TUHAN untuk isterinya, sebab isterinya itu mandul; TUHAN mengabulkan doanya, sehingga Ribka, isterinya itu, mengandung.

22 Tetapi anak-anaknya bertolak-tolakan di dalam rahimnya dan ia berkata: ''Jika demikian halnya, mengapa aku hidup?'' Dan ia pergi meminta petunjuk kepada TUHAN.

23 Firman TUHAN kepadanya: ''Dua bangsa ada dalam kandunganmu, dan dua suku bangsa akan berpencar dari dalam rahimmu; suku bangsa yang satu akan lebih kuat dari yang lain, dan anak yang tua akan menjadi hamba kepada anak yang muda.''

24 Setelah genap harinya untuk bersalin, memang anak kembar yang di dalam kandungannya.

25 Keluarlah yang pertama, warnanya merah, seluruh tubuhnya seperti jubah berbulu; sebab itu ia dinamai Esau.

26 Sesudah itu keluarlah adiknya; tangannya memegang tumit Esau, sebab itu ia dinamai Yakub. Ishak berumur enam puluh tahun pada waktu mereka lahir.

27 Lalu bertambah besarlah kedua anak itu: Esau menjadi seorang yang pandai berburu, seorang yang suka tinggal di padang, tetapi Yakub adalah seorang yang tenang, yang suka tinggal di kemah.

28 Ishak sayang kepada Esau, sebab ia suka makan daging buruan, tetapi Ribka kasih kepada Yakub.

29 Pada suatu kali Yakub sedang memasak sesuatu, lalu datanglah Esau dengan lelah dari padang.

30 Kata Esau kepada Yakub: ''Berikanlah kiranya aku menghirup sedikit dari yang merah-merah itu, karena aku lelah.'' Itulah sebabnya namanya disebutkan Edom.

31 Tetapi kata Yakub: ''Juallah dahulu kepadaku hak kesulunganmu.''

32 Sahut Esau: ''Sebentar lagi aku akan mati; apakah gunanya bagiku hak kesulungan itu?''

33 Kata Yakub: ''Bersumpahlah dahulu kepadaku.'' Maka bersumpahlah ia kepada Yakub dan
dijualnyalah hak kesulungannya kepadanya.

34 Lalu Yakub memberikan roti dan masakan kacang merah itu kepada Esau; ia makan dan minum, lalu berdiri dan pergi. Demikianlah Esau memandang ringan hak kesulungan itu.

وَشَاخَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَتَقَدَّمَ فِي الايَّامِ. وَبَارَكَ الرَّبُّ ابْرَاهِيمَ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ. وَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ لِعَبْدِهِ كَبِيرِ بَيْتِهِ الْمُسْتَوْلِي عَلَى كُلِّ مَا

كَانَ لَهُ: «ضَعْ يَدَكَ تَحْتَ فَخْذِي فَاسْتَحْلِفَكَ بِالرَّبِّ الَهِ السَّمَاءِ وَالَهِ الارْضِ انْ لا تَاخُذَ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي مِنْ بَنَاتِ الْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ

الَّذِينَ انَا سَاكِنٌ بَيْنَهُمْ بَلْ الَى ارْضِي وَالَى عَشِيرَتِي تَذْهَبُ وَتَاخُذُ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي اسْحَاقَ». فَقَالَ لَهُ الْعَبْدُ: «رُبَّمَا لا تَشَاءُ

الْمَرْاةُ انْ تَتْبَعَنِي الَى هَذِهِ الارْضِ. هَلْ ارْجِعُ بِابْنِكَ الَى الارْضِ الَّتِي خَرَجْتَ مِنْهَا؟» فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْرَاهِيمُ: «احْتَرِزْ مِنْ انْ

تَرْجِعَ بِابْنِي الَى هُنَاكَ. الرَّبُّ الَهُ السَّمَاءِ الَّذِي اخَذَنِي مِنْ بَيْتِ ابِي وَمِنْ ارْضِ مِيلادِي وَالَّذِي كَلَّمَنِي وَالَّذِي اقْسَمَ لِي

قَائِلا: لِنَسْلِكَ اعْطِي هَذِهِ الارْضَ هُوَ يُرْسِلُ مَلاكَهُ امَامَكَ فَتَاخُذُ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي مِنْ هُنَاكَ. وَانْ لَمْ تَشَا الْمَرْاةُ انْ تَتْبَعَكَ

تَبَرَّاتَ مِنْ حَلْفِي هَذَا. امَّا ابْنِي فَلا تَرْجِعْ بِهِ الَى هُنَاكَ». فَوَضَعَ الْعَبْدُ يَدَهُ تَحْتَ فَخْذِ ابْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلاهُ وَحَلَفَ لَهُ عَلَى هَذَا

الامْرِ. ثُمَّ اخَذَ الْعَبْدُ عَشَرَةَ جِمَالٍ مِنْ جِمَالِ مَوْلاهُ وَمَضَى وَجَمِيعُ خَيْرَاتِ مَوْلاهُ فِي يَدِهِ. فَقَامَ وَذَهَبَ الَى ارَامِ النَّهْرَيْنِ

الَى مَدِينَةِ نَاحُورَ. وَانَاخَ الْجِمَالَ خَارِجَ الْمَدِينَةِ عِنْدَ بِئْرِ الْمَاءِ وَقْتَ الْمَسَاءِ وَقْتَ خُرُوجِ الْمُسْتَقِيَاتِ. وَقَالَ: «ايُّهَا الرَّبُّ الَهَ

سَيِّدِي ابْرَاهِيمَ يَسِّرْ لِي الْيَوْمَ وَاصْنَعْ لُطْفا الَى سَيِّدِي ابْرَاهِيمَ. هَا انَا وَاقِفٌ عَلَى عَيْنِ الْمَاءِ وَبَنَاتُ اهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ خَارِجَاتٌ

لِيَسْتَقِينَ مَاءً. فَلْيَكُنْ انَّ الْفَتَاةَ الَّتِي اقُولُ لَهَا: امِيلِي جَرَّتَكِ لاشْرَبَ فَتَقُولَ: اشْرَبْ وَانَا اسْقِي جِمَالَكَ ايْضا هِيَ الَّتِي عَيَّنْتَهَا

لِعَبْدِكَ اسْحَاقَ. وَبِهَا اعْلَمُ انَّكَ صَنَعْتَ لُطْفا الَى سَيِّدِي». وَاذْ كَانَ لَمْ يَفْرَغْ بَعْدُ مِنَ الْكَلامِ اذَا رِفْقَةُ الَّتِي وُلِدَتْ لِبَتُوئِيلَ ابْنِ

مِلْكَةَ امْرَاةِ نَاحُورَ اخِي ابْرَاهِيمَ خَارِجَةٌ وَجَرَّتُهَا عَلَى كَتِفِهَا. وَكَانَتِ الْفَتَاةُ حَسَنَةَ الْمَنْظَرِ جِدّا وَعَذْرَاءَ لَمْ يَعْرِفْهَا رَجُلٌ.

فَنَزَلَتْ الَى الْعَيْنِ وَمَلَاتْ جَرَّتَهَا وَطَلَعَتْ. فَرَكَضَ الْعَبْدُ لِلِقَائِهَا وَقَالَ: «اسْقِينِي قَلِيلَ مَاءٍ مِنْ جَرَّتِكِ». فَقَالَتِ: «اشْرَبْ يَا

سَيِّدِي». وَاسْرَعَتْ وَانْزَلَتْ جَرَّتَهَا عَلَى يَدِهَا وَسَقَتْهُ. وَلَمَّا فَرَغَتْ مِنْ سَقْيِهِ قَالَتْ: «اسْتَقِي لِجِمَالِكَ ايْضا حَتَّى تَفْرَغَ مِنَ

الشُّرْبِ». فَاسْرَعَتْ وَافْرَغَتْ جَرَّتَهَا فِي الْمَسْقَاةِ وَرَكَضَتْ ايْضا الَى الْبِئْرِ لِتَسْتَقِيَ. فَاسْتَقَتْ لِكُلِّ جِمَالِهِ. وَالرَّجُلُ يَتَفَرَّسُ

فِيهَا صَامِتا لِيَعْلَمَ: هَلْ انْجَحَ الرَّبُّ طَرِيقَهُ امْ لا؟ وَحَدَثَ عِنْدَمَا فَرَغَتِ الْجِمَالُ مِنَ الشُّرْبِ انَّ الرَّجُلَ اخَذَ خِزَامَةَ ذَهَبٍ

وَزْنُهَا نِصْفُ شَاقِلٍ وَسِوَارَيْنِ عَلَى يَدَيْهَا وَزْنُهُمَا عَشَرَةُ شَوَاقِلِ ذَهَبٍ. وَقَالَ: «بِنْتُ مَنْ انْتِ؟ اخْبِرِينِي. هَلْ فِي بَيْتِ ابِيكِ

مَكَانٌ لَنَا لِنَبِيتَ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: «انَا بِنْتُ بَتُوئِيلَ ابْنِ مِلْكَةَ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ لِنَاحُورَ». وَقَالَتْ لَهُ: «عَِنْدَنَا تِبْنٌ وَعَلَفٌ كَثِيرٌ وَمَكَانٌ

لِتَبِيتُوا ايْضا». فَخَرَّ الرَّجُلُ وَسَجَدَ لِلرَّبِّ وَقَالَ: «مُبَارَكٌ الرَّبُّ الَهُ سَيِّدِي ابْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي لَمْ يَمْنَعْ لُطْفَهُ وَحَقَّهُ عَنْ سَيِّدِي. اذْ

كُنْتُ انَا فِي الطَّرِيقِ هَدَانِي الرَّبُّ الَى بَيْتِ اخْوَةِ سَيِّدِي». فَرَكَضَتِ الْفَتَاةُ وَاخْبَرَتْ بَيْتَ امِّهَا بِحَسَبِ هَذِهِ الامُورِ. وَكَانَ

لِرِفْقَةَ اخٌ اسْمُهُ لابَانُ. فَرَكَضَ لابَانُ الَى الرَّجُلِ خَارِجا الَى الْعَيْنِ. وَحَدَثَ انَّهُ اذْ رَاى الْخِزَامَةَ وَالسِّوَارَيْنِ عَلَى يَدَيْ

اخْتِهِ وَاذْ سَمِعَ كَلامَ رِفْقَةَ اخْتِهِ قَائِلَةً: «هَكَذَا كَلَّمَنِي الرَّجُلُ» جَاءَ الَى الرَّجُلِ وَاذَا هُوَ وَاقِفٌ عِنْدَ الْجِمَالِ عَلَى الْعَيْنِ.

فَقَالَ: «ادْخُلْ يَا مُبَارَكَ الرَّبِّ. لِمَاذَا تَقِفُ خَارِجا وَانَا قَدْ هَيَّاتُ الْبَيْتَ وَمَكَانا لِلْجِمَالِ؟» فَدَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ الَى الْبَيْتِ وَحَلَّ عَنِ

الْجِمَالِ. فَاعْطَى تِبْنا وَعَلَفا لِلْجِمَالِ وَمَاءً لِغَسْلِ رِجْلَيْهِ وَارْجُلِ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ. وَوُضِعَ قُدَّامَهُ لِيَاكُلَ. فَقَالَ: «لا اكُلُ

حَتَّى اتَكَلَّمَ كَلامِي». فَقَالَ: «تَكَلَّمْ». فَقَالَ: «انَا عَبْدُ ابْرَاهِيمَ. وَالرَّبُّ قَدْ بَارَكَ مَوْلايَ جِدّا فَصَارَ عَظِيما وَاعْطَاهُ غَنَما

وَبَقَرا وَفِضَّةً وَذَهَبا وَعَبِيدا وَامَاءً وَجِمَالا وَحَمِيرا. وَوَلَدَتْ سَارَةُ امْرَاةُ سَيِّدِي ابْنا لِسَيِّدِي بَعْدَ مَا شَاخَتْ فَقَدْ اعْطَاهُ كُلَّ مَا

لَهُ. وَاسْتَحْلَفَنِي سَيِّدِي قَائِلا:لا تَاخُذْ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي مِنْ بَنَاتِ الْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ انَا سَاكِنٌ فِي ارْضِهِمْ بَلْ الَى بَيْتِ ابِي تَذْهَبُ

وَالَى عَشِيرَتِي وَتَاخُذُ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي. فَقُلْتُ لِسَيِّدِي: رُبَّمَا لا تَتْبَعُنِي الْمَرْاةُ. فَقَالَ لِي: انَّ الرَّبَّ الَّذِي سِرْتُ امَامَهُ يُرْسِلُ

مَلاكَهُ مَعَكَ وَيُنْجِحُ طَرِيقَكَ فَتَاخُذُ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِي مِنْ عَشِيرَتِي وَمِنْ بَيْتِ ابِي. حِينَئِذٍ تَتَبَرَّا مِنْ حَلْفِي حِينَمَا تَجِيءُ الَى

عَشِيرَتِي. وَانْ لَمْ يُعْطُوكَ فَتَكُونُ بَرِيئا مِنْ حَلْفِي. فَجِئْتُ الْيَوْمَ الَى الْعَيْنِ وَقُلْتُ: ايُّهَا الرَّبُّ الَهُ سَيِّدِي ابْرَاهِيمَ انْ كُنْتَ

تُنْجِحُ طَرِيقِي الَّذِي انَا سَالِكٌ فِيهِ فَهَا انَا وَاقِفٌ عَلَى عَيْنِ الْمَاءِ وَلْيَكُنْ انَّ الْفَتَاةَ الَّتِي تَخْرُجُ لِتَسْتَقِيَ وَاقُولُ لَهَا: اسْقِينِي قَلِيلَ

مَاءٍ مِنْ جَرَّتِكِ فَتَقُولَ لِيَ: اشْرَبْ انْتَ وَانَا اسْتَقِي لِجِمَالِكَ ايْضا هِيَ الْمَرْاةُ الَّتِي عَيَّنَهَا الرَّبُّ لِابْنِ سَيِّدِي. وَاذْ كُنْتُ انَا لَمْ

افْرَغْ بَعْدُ مِنَ الْكَلامِ فِي قَلْبِي اذَا رِفْقَةُ خَارِجَةٌ وَجَرَّتُهَا عَلَى كَتِفِهَا فَنَزَلَتْ الَى الْعَيْنِ وَاسْتَقَتْ. فَقُلْتُ لَهَا: اسْقِينِي. فَاسْرَعَتْ

وَانْزَلَتْ جَرَّتَهَا عَنْهَا وَقَالَتِ: اشْرَبْ وَانَا اسْقِي جِمَالَكَ ايْضا. فَشَرِبْتُ وَسَقَتِ الْجِمَالَ ايْضا. فَسَالْتُهَا: بِنْتُ مَنْ انْتِ؟ فَقَالَتْ:

بِنْتُ بَتُوئِيلَ بْنِ نَاحُورَ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ لَهُ مِلْكَةُ. فَوَضَعْتُ الْخِزَامَةَ فِي انْفِهَا وَالسِّوَارَيْنِ عَلَى يَدَيْهَا. وَخَرَرْتُ وَسَجَدْتُ لِلرَّبِّ

وَبَارَكْتُ الرَّبَّ الَهَ سَيِّدِي ابْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي هَدَانِي فِي طَرِيقٍ امِينٍ لِاخُذَ ابْنَةَ اخِي سَيِّدِي لِابْنِهِ. وَالْانَ انْ كُنْتُمْ تَصْنَعُونَ

مَعْرُوفا وَامَانَةً الَى سَيِّدِي فَاخْبِرُونِي وَالَّا فَاخْبِرُونِي لانْصَرِفَ يَمِينا اوْ شِمَالا». فَاجَابَ لابَانُ وَبَتُوئِيلُ: «مِنْ عِنْدِ الرَّبِّ

خَرَجَ الامْرُ. لا نَقْدِرُ انْ نُكَلِّمَكَ بِشَرٍّ اوْ خَيْرٍ. هُوَذَا رِفْقَةُ قُدَّامَكَ. خُذْهَا وَاذْهَبْ. فَلْتَكُنْ زَوْجَةً لِابْنِ سَيِّدِكَ كَمَا تَكَلَّمَ الرَّبُّ».

وَكَانَ عِنْدَمَا سَمِعَ عَبْدُ ابْرَاهِيمَ كَلامَهُمْ انَّهُ سَجَدَ لِلرَّبِّ الَى الارْضِ. وَاخْرَجَ الْعَبْدُ انِيَةَ فِضَّةٍ وَانِيَةَ ذَهَبٍ وَثِيَابا وَاعْطَاهَا

لِرِفْقَةَ وَاعْطَى تُحَفا لاخِيهَا وَلِامِّهَا. فَاكَلَ وَشَرِبَ هُوَ وَالرِّجَالُ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ وَبَاتُوا. ثُمَّ قَامُوا صَبَاحا فَقَالَ: «اصْرِفُونِي الَى

سَيِّدِي». فَقَالَ اخُوهَا وَامُّهَا: «لِتَمْكُثِ الْفَتَاةُ عِنْدَنَا ايَّاما اوْ عَشَرَةً بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ تَمْضِي». فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «لا تُعَوِّقُونِي وَالرَّبُّ قَدْ

انْجَحَ طَرِيقِي. اصْرِفُونِي لاذْهَبَ الَى سَيِّدِي». فَقَالُوا: «نَدْعُو الْفَتَاةَ وَنَسْالُهَا شِفَاها». فَدَعُوا رِفْقَةَ وَقَالُوا لَهَا: «هَلْ تَذْهَبِينَ

مَعَ هَذَا الرَّجُلِ؟» فَقَالَتْ: «اذْهَبُ». فَصَرَفُوا رِفْقَةَ اخْتَهُمْ وَمُرْضِعَتَهَا وَعَبْدَ ابْرَاهِيمَ وَرِجَالَهُ. وَبَارَكُوا رِفْقَةَ وَقَالُوا لَهَا:

«انْتِ اخْتُنَا. صِيرِي الُوفَ رَبَوَاتٍ وَلْيَرِثْ نَسْلُكِ بَابَ مُبْغِضِيهِ». فَقَامَتْ رِفْقَةُ وَفَتَيَاتُهَا وَرَكِبْنَ عَلَى الْجِمَالِ وَتَبِعْنَ الرَّجُلَ.

فَاخَذَ الْعَبْدُ رِفْقَةَ وَمَضَى. وَكَانَ اسْحَاقُ قَدْ اتَى مِنْ وُرُودِ بِئْرِ لَحَيْ رُئِي - اذْ كَانَ سَاكِنا فِي ارْضِ الْجَنُوبِ. وَخَرَجَ

اسْحَاقُ لِيَتَامَّلَ فِي الْحَقْلِ عِنْدَ اقْبَالِ الْمَسَاءِ فَرَفَعَ عَيْنَيْهِ وَنَظَرَ وَاذَا جِمَالٌ مُقْبِلَةٌ. وَرَفَعَتْ رِفْقَةُ عَيْنَيْهَا فَرَاتْ اسْحَاقَ فَنَزَلَتْ

عَنِ الْجَمَلِ. وَقَالَتْ لِلْعَبْدِ: «مَنْ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ الْمَاشِي فِي الْحَقْلِ لِلِقَائِنَا؟» فَقَالَ الْعَبْدُ: «هُوَ سَيِّدِي». فَاخَذَتِ الْبُرْقُعَ وَتَغَطَّتْ.

ثُمَّ حَدَّثَ الْعَبْدُ اسْحَاقَ بِكُلِّ الامُورِ الَّتِي صَنَعَ فَادْخَلَهَا اسْحَاقُ الَى خِبَاءِ سَارَةَ امِّهِ وَاخَذَ رِفْقَةَ فَصَارَتْ لَهُ زَوْجَةً وَاحَبَّهَا.

فَتَعَزَّى اسْحَاقُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِ امِّهِ.

Genesis 24

Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, "Please, put your hand under my thigh, and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell; but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac." And the servant said to him, "Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I take your son back to the land from which you came?" But Abraham said to him, "Beware that you do not take my son back there. The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, 'To your descendants I give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there. And if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be released from this oath; only do not take my son back there." So the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

Then the servant took ten of his master's camels and departed, for all his master's goods were in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor. And he made his camels kneel down outside the city by a well of water at evening time, the time when women go out to draw water. Then he said, "O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham. Behold, here I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, 'Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink'--let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master." And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up. And the servant ran to meet her and said, "Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher." So she said, "Drink, my lord." Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink. And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking." Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. So it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a golden nose ring weighing half a shekel, and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold, and said, "Whose daughter are you? Tell me, please, is there room in your father's house for us to lodge?" So she said to him, "I am the daughter of Bethuel, Milcah's son, whom she bore to Nahor." Moreover she said to him, "We have both straw and feed enough, and room to lodge." Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord. And he said, "Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master's brethren." So the young woman ran and told her mother's household these things.

Now Rebekah had a brother whose name was Laban, and Laban ran out to the man by the well. So it came to pass, when he saw the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister's wrists, and when he heard the words of his sister Rebekah, saying, "Thus the man spoke to me," that he went to the man. And there he stood by the camels at the well. And he said, "Come in, O blessed of the Lord! Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and a place for the camels." Then the man came to the house. And he unloaded the camels, and provided straw and feed for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him. Food was set before him to eat, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told about my errand." And he said, "Speak on." So he said, "I am Abraham's servant. The Lord has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great; and He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys. And Sarah my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old; and to him he has given all that he has. Now my master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell; but you shall go to my father's house and to my family, and take a wife for my son.' And I said to my master, 'Perhaps the woman will not follow me.' But he said to me, 'The Lord, before whom I walk, will send His angel with you and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son from my family and from my father's house. You will be clear from this oath when you arrive among my family; for if they will not give her to you, then you will be released from my oath.' "And this day I came to the well and said, 'O Lord God of my master Abraham, if You will now prosper the way in which I go, behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, "Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink," and she says to me, "Drink, and I will draw for your camels also,"--let her be the woman whom the Lord has appointed for my master's son.' "But before I had finished speaking in my heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, 'Please let me drink.' And she made haste and let her pitcher down from her shoulder, and said, 'Drink, and I will give your camels a drink also.' So I drank, and she gave the camels a drink also. Then I asked her, and said, 'Whose daughter are you?' And she said, 'The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him.' So I put the nose ring on her nose and the bracelets on her wrists. And I bowed my head and worshiped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the way of truth to take the daughter of my master's brother for his son. Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. And if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand or to the left." Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, "The thing comes from the Lord; we cannot speak to you either bad or good. Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as the Lord has spoken." And it came to pass, when Abraham's servant heard their words, that he worshiped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. Then the servant brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.

And he and the men who were with him ate and drank and stayed all night. Then they arose in the morning, and he said, "Send me away to my master." But her brother and her mother said, "Let the young woman stay with us a few days, at least ten; after that she may go." And he said to them, "Do not hinder me, since the Lord has prospered my way; send me away so that I may go to my master." So they said, "We will call the young woman and ask her personally." Then they called Rebekah and said to her, "Will you go with this man?" And she said, "I will go." So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah and said to her: "Our sister, may you become The mother of thousands of ten thousands; And may your descendants possess The gates of those who hate them." Then Rebekah and her maids arose, and they rode on the camels and followed the man. So the servant took Rebekah and departed.

Now Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he dwelt in the South. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming. Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel; for she had said to the servant, "Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?" The servant said, "It is my master." So she took a veil and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

Kejadian 24

1 Adapun Abraham telah tua dan lanjut umurnya, serta diberkati TUHAN dalam segala hal.

2 Berkatalah Abraham kepada hambanya yang paling tua dalam rumahnya, yang menjadi kuasa atas segala kepunyaannya, katanya: ''Baiklah letakkan tanganmu di bawah pangkal pahaku,

3 supaya aku mengambil sumpahmu demi TUHAN, Allah yang empunya langit dan yang empunya bumi, bahwa engkau tidak akan mengambil untuk anakku seorang isteri dari antara perempuan Kanaan yang di antaranya aku diam.

4 Tetapi engkau harus pergi ke negeriku dan kepada sanak saudaraku untuk mengambil seorang isteri bagi Ishak, anakku.''

5 Lalu berkatalah hambanya itu kepadanya: ''Mungkin perempuan itu tidak suka mengikuti aku ke negeri ini; haruskah aku membawa anakmu itu kembali ke negeri dari mana tuanku keluar?''

6 Tetapi Abraham berkata kepadanya: ''Awas, jangan kaubawa anakku itu kembali ke sana.

7 TUHAN, Allah yang empunya langit, yang telah memanggil aku dari rumah ayahku serta dari negeri sanak saudaraku, dan yang telah berfirman kepadaku, serta yang bersumpah kepadaku, demikian: kepada keturunanmulah akan Kuberikan negeri ini -- Dialah juga akan mengutus malaikat-Nya berjalan di depanmu, sehingga engkau dapat mengambil seorang isteri dari sana untuk anakku.

8 Tetapi jika perempuan itu tidak mau mengikuti engkau, maka lepaslah engkau dari sumpahmu kepadaku ini; hanya saja, janganlah anakku itu kaubawa kembali ke sana.''

9 Lalu hamba itu meletakkan tangannya di bawah pangkal paha Abraham, tuannya, dan bersumpah kepadanya tentang hal itu.

10 Kemudian hamba itu mengambil sepuluh ekor dari unta tuannya dan pergi dengan membawa berbagai-bagai barang berharga kepunyaan tuannya; demikianlah ia berangkat menuju Aram-Mesopotamia ke kota Nahor.

11 Di sana disuruhnyalah unta itu berhenti di luar kota dekat suatu sumur, pada waktu petang hari, waktu perempuan-perempuan keluar untuk menimba air.

12 Lalu berkatalah ia: ''TUHAN, Allah tuanku Abraham, buatlah kiranya tercapai tujuanku pada hari ini, tunjukkanlah kasih setia-Mu kepada tuanku Abraham.

13 Di sini aku berdiri di dekat mata air, dan anak-anak perempuan penduduk kota ini datang keluar untuk menimba air.

14 Kiranya terjadilah begini: anak gadis, kepada siapa aku berkata: Tolong miringkan buyungmu itu, supaya aku minum, dan yang menjawab: Minumlah, dan unta-untamu juga akan kuberi minum -- dialah kiranya yang Kautentukan bagi hamba-Mu, Ishak; maka dengan begitu akan kuketahui, bahwa Engkau telah menunjukkan kasih setia-Mu kepada tuanku itu.''

15 Sebelum ia selesai berkata, maka datanglah Ribka, yang lahir bagi Betuel, anak laki-laki Milka, isteri Nahor, saudara Abraham; buyungnya dibawanya di atas bahunya.

16 Anak gadis itu sangat cantik parasnya, seorang perawan, belum pernah bersetubuh dengan laki-laki; ia turun ke mata air itu dan mengisi buyungnya, lalu kembali naik.
17 Kemudian berlarilah hamba itu mendapatkannya serta berkata: ''Tolong beri aku minum air sedikit dari buyungmu itu.''

18 Jawabnya: ''Minumlah, tuan,'' maka segeralah diturunkannya buyungnya itu ke tangannya, serta diberinya dia minum.

19 Setelah ia selesai memberi hamba itu minum, berkatalah ia: ''Baiklah untuk unta-untamu juga kutimba air, sampai semuanya puas minum.''

20 Kemudian segeralah dituangnya air yang di buyungnya itu ke dalam palungan, lalu berlarilah ia sekali lagi ke sumur untuk menimba air dan ditimbanyalah untuk semua unta orang itu.

21 Dan orang itu mengamat-amatinya dengan berdiam diri untuk mengetahui apakah TUHAN membuat perjalanannya berhasil atau tidak.

22 Setelah unta-unta itu puas minum, maka orang itu mengambil anting-anting emas yang setengah syikal beratnya, dan sepasang gelang tangan yang sepuluh syikal emas beratnya,

23 serta berkata: ''Anak siapakah engkau? Baiklah katakan kepadaku! Adakah di rumah ayahmu tempat bermalam bagi kami?''
24 Lalu jawabnya kepadanya: ''Ayahku Betuel, anak Milka, yang melahirkannya bagi Nahor.''

25 Lagi kata gadis itu: ''Baik jerami, baik makanan unta banyak pada kami, tempat bermalam pun ada.''

26 Lalu berlututlah orang itu dan sujud menyembah TUHAN,

27 serta berkata: ''Terpujilah TUHAN, Allah tuanku Abraham, yang tidak menarik kembali kasih-Nya dan setia-Nya dari tuanku itu; dan TUHAN telah menuntun aku di jalan ke rumah saudara-saudara tuanku ini!''

28 Berlarilah gadis itu pergi menceritakan kejadian itu ke rumah ibunya.

29 Ribka mempunyai saudara laki-laki, namanya Laban. Laban berlari ke luar mendapatkan orang itu, ke mata air tadi,

30 sesudah dilihatnya anting-anting itu dan gelang pada tangan saudaranya, dan sesudah didengarnya perkataan Ribka, saudaranya, yang bunyinya: ''Begitulah dikatakan orang itu kepadaku.'' Ia mendapatkan orang itu, yang masih berdiri di samping unta-untanya di dekat mata air itu,

31 dan berkata: ''Marilah engkau yang diberkati TUHAN, mengapa engkau berdiri di luar, padahal telah kusediakan rumah bagimu, dan juga tempat untuk unta-untamu.''

32 Masuklah orang itu ke dalam rumah. Ditanggalkanlah pelana unta-unta, diberikan jerami dan makanan kepada unta-unta itu, lalu dibawa air pembasuh kaki untuk orang itu dan orang-orang yang bersama-sama dengan dia.

33 Tetapi ketika dihidangkan makanan di depannya, berkatalah orang itu: ''Aku tidak akan makan sebelum kusampaikan pesan yang kubawa ini.'' Jawab Laban: ''Silakan!''

34 Lalu berkatalah ia: ''Aku ini hamba Abraham.

35 TUHAN sangat memberkati tuanku itu, sehingga ia telah menjadi kaya; TUHAN telah memberikan kepadanya kambing domba dan lembu sapi, emas dan perak, budak laki-laki dan perempuan, unta dan keledai.

36 Dan Sara, isteri tuanku itu, sesudah tua, telah melahirkan anak laki-laki bagi tuanku itu; kepada anaknya itu telah diberikan tuanku segala harta miliknya.

37 Tuanku itu telah mengambil sumpahku: Engkau tidak akan mengambil untuk anakku seorang isteri dari antara perempuan Kanaan, yang negerinya kudiami ini,

38 tetapi engkau harus pergi ke rumah ayahku dan kepada kaumku untuk mengambil seorang isteri bagi anakku.

39 Jawabku kepada tuanku itu: Mungkin perempuan itu tidak mau mengikut aku.

40 Tetapi katanya kepadaku: TUHAN, yang di hadapan-Nya aku hidup, akan mengutus malaikat-Nya menyertai engkau, dan akan membuat perjalananmu berhasil, sehingga engkau akan mengambil bagi anakku seorang isteri dari kaumku dan dari rumah ayahku.

41 Barulah engkau lepas dari sumpahmu kepadaku, jika engkau sampai kepada kaumku dan mereka tidak memberikan perempuan itu kepadamu; hanya dalam hal itulah engkau lepas dari sumpahmu kepadaku.

42 Dan hari ini aku sampai ke mata air tadi, lalu kataku: TUHAN, Allah tuanku Abraham, sudilah kiranya Engkau membuat berhasil perjalanan yang kutempuh ini.

43 Di sini aku berdiri di dekat mata air ini; kiranya terjadi begini: Apabila seorang gadis datang ke luar untuk menimba air dan aku berkata kepadanya: Tolong berikan aku minum air sedikit dari buyungmu itu,

44 dan ia menjawab: Minumlah, dan untuk unta-untamu juga akan kutimba air, -- dialah kiranya isteri, yang telah TUHAN tentukan bagi anak tuanku itu.

45 Belum lagi aku habis berkata dalam hatiku, Ribka telah datang membawa buyung di atas bahunya, dan turun ke mata air itu, lalu menimba air. Kataku kepadanya: Tolong berikan aku
minum.

46 Segeralah ia menurunkan buyung itu dari atas bahunya serta berkata: Minumlah, dan unta-untamu juga akan kuberi minum. Lalu aku minum, dan unta-unta itu juga diberinya minum.

47 Sesudah itu aku bertanya kepadanya: Anak siapakah engkau? Jawabnya: Ayahku Betuel anak Nahor yang dilahirkan Milka. Lalu aku mengenakan anting-anting pada hidungnya dan gelang pada tangannya.

48 Kemudian berlututlah aku dan sujud menyembah TUHAN, serta memuji TUHAN, Allah tuanku Abraham, yang telah menuntun aku di jalan yang benar untuk mengambil anak perempuan saudara tuanku ini bagi anaknya.

49 Jadi sekarang, apabila kamu mau menunjukkan kasih dan setia kepada tuanku itu, beritahukanlah kepadaku; dan jika tidak, beritahukanlah juga kepadaku, supaya aku tahu entah berpaling ke kanan atau ke kiri.''

50 Lalu Laban dan Betuel menjawab: ''Semuanya ini datangnya dari TUHAN; kami tidak dapat mengatakan kepadamu baiknya atau buruknya.

51 Lihat, Ribka ada di depanmu, bawalah dia dan pergilah, supaya ia menjadi isteri anak tuanmu, seperti yang difirmankan TUHAN.''

52 Ketika hamba Abraham itu mendengar perkataan mereka, sujudlah ia sampai ke tanah menyembah TUHAN.

53 Kemudian hamba itu mengeluarkan perhiasan emas dan perak serta pakaian kebesaran, dan memberikan semua itu kepada Ribka; juga kepada saudaranya dan kepada ibunya diberikannya pemberian yang indah-indah.

54 Sesudah itu makan dan minumlah mereka, ia dan orang-orang yang bersama-sama dengan dia, dan mereka bermalam di situ. Paginya sesudah mereka bangun, berkatalah hamba itu: ''Lepaslah aku pulang kepada tuanku.''

55 Tetapi saudara Ribka berkata, serta ibunya juga: ''Biarkanlah anak gadis itu tinggal pada kami barang sepuluh hari lagi, kemudian bolehlah engkau pergi.''

56 Tetapi jawabnya kepada mereka: ''Janganlah tahan aku, sedang TUHAN telah membuat perjalananku berhasil; lepaslah aku, supaya aku pulang kepada tuanku.''

57 Kata mereka: ''Baiklah kita panggil anak gadis itu dan menanyakan kepadanya sendiri.''

58 Lalu mereka memanggil Ribka dan berkata kepadanya: ''Maukah engkau pergi beserta orang ini?'' Jawabnya: ''Mau.''

59 Maka Ribka, saudara mereka itu, dan inang pengasuhnya beserta hamba Abraham dan orang-orangnya dibiarkan mereka pergi.

60 Dan mereka memberkati Ribka, kata mereka kepadanya: ''Saudara kami, moga-moga engkau menjadi beribu-ribu laksa, dan moga-moga keturunanmu menduduki kota-kota musuhnya.''

61 Lalu berkemaslah Ribka beserta hamba-hambanya perempuan, dan mereka naik unta mengikuti orang itu. Demikianlah hamba itu membawa Ribka lalu berjalan pulang.

62 Adapun Ishak telah datang dari arah sumur Lahai-Roi; ia tinggal di Tanah Negeb.

63 Menjelang senja Ishak sedang keluar untuk berjalan-jalan di padang. Ia melayangkan pandangnya, maka dilihatnyalah ada unta-unta datang.

64 Ribka juga melayangkan pandangnya dan ketika dilihatnya Ishak, turunlah ia dari untanya.

65 Katanya kepada hamba itu: ''Siapakah laki-laki itu yang berjalan di padang ke arah kita?'' Jawab hamba itu: ''Dialah tuanku itu.'' Lalu Ribka mengambil telekungnya dan bertelekunglah ia.

66 Kemudian hamba itu menceritakan kepada Ishak segala yang dilakukannya.

67 Lalu Ishak membawa Ribka ke dalam kemah Sara, ibunya, dan mengambil dia menjadi isterinya. Ishak mencintainya dan demikian ia dihiburkan setelah ibunya meninggal.
