وَكَانَتْ حَيَاةُ سَارَةَ مِئَةً وَسَبْعا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً سِنِي حَيَاةِ سَارَةَ. وَمَاتَتْ سَارَةُ فِي قَرْيَةِ ارْبَعَ (الَّتِي هِيَ حَبْرُونُ) فِي ارْضِ

كَنْعَانَ. فَاتَى ابْرَاهِيمُ لِيَنْدُبَ سَارَةَ وَيَبْكِيَ عَلَيْهَا. وَقَامَ ابْرَاهِيمُ مِنْ امَامِ مَيِّتِهِ وَقَالَ لِبَنِي حِثَّ: «انَا غَرِيبٌ وَنَزِيلٌ عِنْدَكُمْ.

اعْطُونِي مُلْكَ قَبْرٍ مَعَكُمْ لادْفِنَ مَيِّتِي مِنْ امَامِي». فَاجَابَ بَنُو حِثَّ ابْرَاهِيمَ: «اسْمَعْنَا يَا سَيِّدِي انْتَ رَئِيسٌ مِنَ اللهِ بَيْنَنَا. فِي

افْضَلِ قُبُورِنَا ادْفِنْ مَيِّتَكَ. لا يَمْنَعُ احَدٌ مِنَّا قَبْرَهُ عَنْكَ حَتَّى لا تَدْفِنَ مَيِّتَكَ». فَقَامَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَسَجَدَ لِشَعْبِ الارْضِ لِبَنِي حِثَّ

وَقَالَ: «انْ كَانَ فِي نُفُوسِكُمْ انْ ادْفِنَ مَيِّتِي مِنْ امَامِي فَاسْمَعُونِي وَالْتَمِسُوا لِي مِنْ عِفْرُونَ بْنِ صُوحَرَ انْ يُعْطِيَنِي مَغَارَةَ

الْمَكْفِيلَةِ الَّتِي لَهُ الَّتِي فِي طَرَفِ حَقْلِهِ. بِثَمَنٍ كَامِلٍ يُعْطِينِي ايَّاهَا فِي وَسَطِكُمْ مُلْكَ قَبْرٍ». وَكَانَ عِفْرُونُ جَالِسا بَيْنَ بَنِي

حِثَّ. فَاجَابَ عِفْرُونُ الْحِثِّيُّ ابْرَاهِيمَ فِي مَسَامِعِ بَنِي حِثَّ لَدَى جَمِيعِ الدَّاخِلِينَ بَابَ مَدِينَتِهِ: «لا يَا سَيِّدِي اسْمَعْنِي. الْحَقْلُ

وَهَبْتُكَ ايَّاهُ وَالْمَغَارَةُ الَّتِي فِيهِ لَكَ وَهَبْتُهَا. لَدَى عُيُونِ بَنِي شَعْبِي وَهَبْتُكَ ايَّاهَا. ادْفِنْ مَيِّتَكَ». فَسَجَدَ ابْرَاهِيمُ امَامَ شَعْبِ

الارْضِ وَقَالَ لِعِفْرُونَ فِي مَسَامِعِ شَعْبِ الارْضِ: «بَلْ انْ كُنْتَ انْتَ ايَّاهُ فَلَيْتَكَ تَسْمَعُنِي. اعْطِيكَ ثَمَنَ الْحَقْلِ. خُذْ مِنِّي

فَادْفِنَ مَيِّتِي هُنَاكَ». فَاجَابَ عِفْرُونُ ابْرَاهِيمَ: «يَا سَيِّدِي اسْمَعْنِي. ارْضٌ بِارْبَعِ مِئَةِ شَاقِلِ فِضَّةٍ مَا هِيَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ؟ فَادْفِنْ

مَيِّتَكَ». فَسَمِعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ لِعِفْرُونَ وَوَزَنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ لِعِفْرُونَ الْفِضَّةَ الَّتِي ذَكَرَهَا فِي مَسَامِعِ بَنِي حِثَّ. ارْبَعَ مِئَةِ شَاقِلِ فِضَّةٍ

جَائِزَةٍ عِنْدَ التُّجَّارِ. فَوَجَبَ حَقْلُ عِفْرُونَ الَّذِي فِي الْمَكْفِيلَةِ الَّتِي امَامَ مَمْرَا الْحَقْلُ وَالْمَغَارَةُ الَّتِي فِيهِ وَجَمِيعُ الشَّجَرِ الَّذِي

فِي الْحَقْلِ الَّذِي فِي جَمِيعِ حُدُودِهِ حَوَالَيْهِ لابْرَاهِيمَ مُلْكا لَدَى عُيُونِ بَنِي حِثَّ بَيْنَ جَمِيعِ الدَّاخِلِينَ بَابَ مَدِينَتِهِ. وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ

دَفَنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ سَارَةَ امْرَاتَهُ فِي مَغَارَةِ حَقْلِ الْمَكْفِيلَةِ امَامَ مَمْرَا (الَّتِي هِيَ حَبْرُونُ) فِي ارْضِ كَنْعَانَ فَوَجَبَ الْحَقْلُ وَالْمَغَارَةُ

الَّتِي فِيهِ لابْرَاهِيمَ مُلْكَ قَبْرٍ مِنْ عِنْدِ بَنِي حِثَّ.

Genesis 23

Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

Then Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, "I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight." And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him, "Hear us, my lord: You are a mighty prince among us; bury your dead in the choicest of our burial places. None of us will withhold from you his burial place, that you may bury your dead." Then Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, the sons of Heth. And he spoke with them, saying, "If it is your wish that I bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and meet with Ephron the son of Zohar for me, that he may give me the cave of Machpelah which he has, which is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me at the full price, as property for a burial place among you." Now Ephron dwelt among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the presence of the sons of Heth, all who entered at the gate of his city, saying, "No, my lord, hear me: I give you the field and the cave that is in it; I give it to you in the presence of the sons of my people. I give it to you. Bury your dead!" Then Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land; and he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, "If you will give it, please hear me. I will give you money for the field; take it from me and I will bury my dead there." And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him, "My lord, listen to me; the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver. What is that between you and me? So bury your dead."

And Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed out the silver for Ephron which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, currency of the merchants. So the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, which were within all the surrounding borders, were deeded to Abraham as a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city. And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. So the field and the cave that is in it were deeded to Abraham by the sons of Heth as property for a burial place.

Kejadian 23

1 Sara hidup seratus dua puluh tujuh tahun lamanya; itulah umur Sara.

2 Kemudian matilah Sara di Kiryat-Arba, yaitu Hebron, di tanah Kanaan, lalu Abraham datang meratapi dan menangisinya.

3 Sesudah itu Abraham bangkit dan meninggalkan isterinya yang mati itu, lalu berkata kepada bani Het:

4 ''Aku ini orang asing dan pendatang di antara kamu; berikanlah kiranya kuburan milik kepadaku di tanah kamu ini, supaya kiranya aku dapat mengantarkan dan menguburkan isteriku yang mati itu.''

5 Bani Het menjawab Abraham:

6 ''Dengarlah kepada kami, tuanku. Tuanku ini seorang raja agung di tengah-tengah kami; jadi kuburkanlah isterimu yang mati itu dalam kuburan kami yang terpilih, tidak akan ada seorang pun dari kami yang menolak menyediakan kuburannya bagimu untuk menguburkan isterimu yang mati itu.''

7 Kemudian bangunlah Abraham lalu sujud kepada bani Het, penduduk negeri itu,

8 serta berkata kepada mereka: ''Jika kamu setuju, bahwa aku mengantarkan dan menguburkan isteriku yang mati itu, maka dengarkanlah aku dan tolonglah mintakan dengan sangat kepada Efron bin Zohar,

9 supaya ia memberikan kepadaku gua Makhpela miliknya itu, yang terletak di ujung ladangnya; baiklah itu diberikannya kepadaku dengan harga penuh untuk menjadi kuburan milikku di tengah-tengah kamu.''

10 Pada waktu itu Efron hadir di tengah-tengah bani Het. Maka jawab Efron, orang Het itu, kepada Abraham dengan didengar oleh bani Het, oleh semua orang yang datang di pintu gerbang kota:

11 ''Tidak, tuanku, dengarkanlah aku; ladang itu kuberikan kepadamu dan gua yang di sana pun kuberikan kepadamu; di depan mata orang-orang sebangsaku kuberikan itu kepadamu; kuburkanlah isterimu yang mati itu.''

12 Lalu sujudlah Abraham di depan penduduk negeri itu

13 serta berkata kepada Efron dengan didengar oleh mereka: ''Sesungguhnya, jika engkau suka, dengarkanlah aku: aku membayar harga ladang itu; terimalah itu dari padaku, supaya aku dapat menguburkan isteriku yang mati itu di sana.''

14 Jawab Efron kepada Abraham:

15 ''Tuanku, dengarkanlah aku: sebidang tanah dengan harga empat ratus syikal perak, apa artinya itu bagi kita? Kuburkan sajalah isterimu yang mati itu.''

16 Lalu Abraham menerima usul Efron, maka ditimbangnyalah perak untuk Efron, sebanyak yang dimintanya dengan didengar oleh bani Het itu, empat ratus syikal perak, seperti yang berlaku di antara para saudagar.

17 Demikianlah ladang Efron, yang letaknya di Makhpela di sebelah timur Mamre, ladang dan gua yang di sana, serta segala pohon di ladang itu, bahkan di seluruh tanah itu sampai ke tepi-tepinya,

18 diserahkan kepada Abraham menjadi tanah belian, di depan mata bani Het itu, di depan semua orang yang datang di pintu gerbang kota.

19 Sesudah itu Abraham menguburkan Sara, isterinya, di dalam gua ladang Makhpela itu, di sebelah timur Mamre, yaitu Hebron di tanah Kanaan.

20 Demikianlah dari pihak bani Het ladang dengan gua yang ada di sana diserahkan kepada Abraham menjadi kuburan miliknya.

وَحَدَثَ بَعْدَ هَذِهِ الامُورِ انَّ اللهَ امْتَحَنَ ابْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ: «يَا ابْرَاهِيمُ». فَقَالَ: «هَئَنَذَا». فَقَالَ: «خُذِ ابْنَكَ وَحِيدَكَ الَّذِي تُحِبُّهُ

اسْحَاقَ وَاذْهَبْ الَى ارْضِ الْمُرِيَّا وَاصْعِدْهُ هُنَاكَ مُحْرَقَةً عَلَى احَدِ الْجِبَالِ الَّذِي اقُولُ لَكَ». فَبَكَّرَ ابْرَاهِيمُ صَبَاحا وَشَدَّ

عَلَى حِمَارِهِ وَاخَذَ اثْنَيْنِ مِنْ غِلْمَانِهِ مَعَهُ وَاسْحَاقَ ابْنَهُ وَشَقَّقَ حَطَبا لِمُحْرَقَةٍ وَقَامَ وَذَهَبَ الَى الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ اللهُ.

وَفِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ رَفَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ عَيْنَيْهِ وَابْصَرَ الْمَوْضِعَ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ لِغُلامَيْهِ: «اجْلِسَا انْتُمَا هَهُنَا مَعَ الْحِمَارِ وَامَّا

انَا وَالْغُلامُ فَنَذْهَبُ الَى هُنَاكَ وَنَسْجُدُ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ الَيْكُمَا». فَاخَذَ ابْرَاهِيمُ حَطَبَ الْمُحْرَقَةِ وَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى اسْحَاقَ ابْنِهِ وَاخَذَ بِيَدِهِ

النَّارَ وَالسِّكِّينَ. فَذَهَبَا كِلاهُمَا مَعا. وَقَالَ اسْحَاقُ لابْرَاهِيمَ ابِيهِ: «يَا ابِي». فَقَالَ: «هَئَنَذَا يَا ابْنِي». فَقَالَ: «هُوَذَا النَّارُ

وَالْحَطَبُ وَلَكِنْ ايْنَ الْخَرُوفُ لِلْمُحْرَقَةِ؟» فَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ: «اللهُ يَرَى لَهُ الْخَرُوفَ لِلْمُحْرَقَةِ يَا ابْنِي». فَذَهَبَا كِلاهُمَا مَعا. فَلَمَّا

اتَيَا الَى الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ اللهُ بَنَى هُنَاكَ ابْرَاهِيمُ الْمَذْبَحَ وَرَتَّبَ الْحَطَبَ وَرَبَطَ اسْحَاقَ ابْنَهُ وَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى الْمَذْبَحِ فَوْقَ

الْحَطَبِ. ثُمَّ مَدَّ ابْرَاهِيمُ يَدَهُ وَاخَذَ السِّكِّينَ لِيَذْبَحَ ابْنَهُ. فَنَادَاهُ مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَ: «ابْرَاهِيمُ ابْرَاهِيمُ». فَقَالَ:

«هَئَنَذَا» فَقَالَ: «لا تَمُدَّ يَدَكَ الَى الْغُلامِ وَلا تَفْعَلْ بِهِ شَيْئا لانِّي الْانَ عَلِمْتُ انَّكَ خَائِفٌ اللهَ فَلَمْ تُمْسِكِ ابْنَكَ وَحِيدَكَ عَنِّي».

فَرَفَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ عَيْنَيْهِ وَنَظَرَ وَاذَا كَبْشٌ وَرَاءَهُ مُمْسَكا فِي الْغَابَةِ بِقَرْنَيْهِ فَذَهَبَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَاخَذَ الْكَبْشَ وَاصْعَدَهُ مُحْرَقَةً عِوَضا

عَنِ ابْنِهِ. فَدَعَا ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْمَ ذَلِكَ الْمَوْضِعِ «يَهْوَهْ يِرْاهْ». حَتَّى انَّهُ يُقَالُ الْيَوْمَ: «فِي جَبَلِ الرَّبِّ يُرَى». وَنَادَى مَلاكُ الرَّبِّ

ابْرَاهِيمَ ثَانِيَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَ: «بِذَاتِي اقْسَمْتُ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ انِّي مِنْ اجْلِ انَّكَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا الامْرَ وَلَمْ تُمْسِكِ ابْنَكَ وَحِيدَكَ

ابَارِكُكَ مُبَارَكَةً وَاكَثِّرُ نَسْلَكَ تَكْثِيرا كَنُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ وَكَالرَّمْلِ الَّذِي عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْبَحْرِ وَيَرِثُ نَسْلُكَ بَابَ اعْدَائِهِ وَيَتَبَارَكُ فِي

نَسْلِكَ جَمِيعُ امَمِ الارْضِ مِنْ اجْلِ انَّكَ سَمِعْتَ لِقَوْلِي». ثُمَّ رَجَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ الَى غُلامَيْهِ فَقَامُوا وَذَهَبُوا مَعا الَى بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ.

وَسَكَنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ فِي بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ. وَحَدَثَ بَعْدَ هَذِهِ الامُورِ انَّهُ قِيلَ لابْرَاهِيمَ: «هُوَذَا مِلْكَةُ قَدْ وَلَدَتْ هِيَ ايْضا بَنِينَ لِنَاحُورَ

اخِيكَ: عُوصا بِكْرَهُ وَبُوزا اخَاهُ وَقَمُوئِيلَ ابَا ارَامَ وَكَاسَدَ وَحَزْوا وَفِلْدَاشَ وَيِدْلافَ وَبَتُوئِيلَ». وَوَلَدَ بَتُوئِيلُ رِفْقَةَ. هَؤُلاءِ

الثَّمَانِيَةُ وَلَدَتْهُمْ مِلْكَةُ لِنَاحُورَ اخِي ابْرَاهِيمَ. وَامَّا سُرِّيَّتُهُ وَاسْمُهَا رَؤُومَةُ فَوَلَدَتْ هِيَ ايْضا طَابَحَ وَجَاحَمَ وَتَاحَشَ وَمَعْكَةَ.

Genesis 22

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you." So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." Then he said, "Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said, "Here I am." And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of The Lord it shall be provided."

Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: "By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son-- blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

Now it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, "Indeed Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: Huz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel." And Bethuel begot Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother. His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.

Kejadian 22

1 Setelah semuanya itu Allah mencoba Abraham. Ia berfirman kepadanya: ''Abraham,'' lalu sahutnya: ''Ya, Tuhan.''

2 Firman-Nya: ''Ambillah anakmu yang tunggal itu, yang engkau kasihi, yakni Ishak, pergilah ke tanah Moria dan persembahkanlah dia di sana sebagai korban bakaran pada salah satu gunung yang akan Kukatakan kepadamu.''

3 Keesokan harinya pagi-pagi bangunlah Abraham, ia memasang pelana keledainya dan memanggil dua orang bujangnya beserta Ishak, anaknya; ia membelah juga kayu untuk korban bakaran itu, lalu berangkatlah ia dan pergi ke tempat yang dikatakan Allah kepadanya.

4 Ketika pada hari ketiga Abraham melayangkan pandangnya, kelihatanlah kepadanya tempat itu dari jauh.

5 Kata Abraham kepada kedua bujangnya itu: ''Tinggallah kamu di sini dengan keledai ini; aku beserta anak ini akan pergi ke sana; kami akan sembahyang, sesudah itu kami kembali kepadamu.''

6 Lalu Abraham mengambil kayu untuk korban bakaran itu dan memikulkannya ke atas bahu Ishak, anaknya, sedang di tangannya dibawanya api dan pisau. Demikianlah keduanya berjalan bersama-sama.

7 Lalu berkatalah Ishak kepada Abraham, ayahnya: ''Bapa.'' Sahut Abraham: ''Ya, anakku.'' Bertanyalah ia: ''Di sini sudah ada api dan kayu, tetapi di manakah anak domba untuk korban bakaran itu?''

8 Sahut Abraham: ''Allah yang akan menyediakan anak domba untuk korban bakaran bagi-Nya, anakku.'' Demikianlah keduanya berjalan bersama-sama.

9 Sampailah mereka ke tempat yang dikatakan Allah kepadanya. Lalu Abraham mendirikan mezbah di situ, disusunnyalah kayu, diikatnya Ishak, anaknya itu, dan diletakkannya di mezbah itu, di atas kayu api.

10 Sesudah itu Abraham mengulurkan tangannya, lalu mengambil pisau untuk menyembelih anaknya.

11 Tetapi berserulah Malaikat TUHAN dari langit kepadanya: ''Abraham, Abraham.'' Sahutnya: ''Ya, Tuhan.''

12 Lalu Ia berfirman: ''Jangan bunuh anak itu dan jangan kauapa-apakan dia, sebab telah Kuketahui sekarang, bahwa engkau takut akan Allah, dan engkau tidak segan-segan untuk menyerahkan anakmu yang tunggal kepada-Ku.''

13 Lalu Abraham menoleh dan melihat seekor domba jantan di belakangnya, yang tanduknya tersangkut dalam belukar. Abraham mengambil domba itu, lalu mengorbankannya sebagai korban bakaran pengganti anaknya.

14 Dan Abraham menamai tempat itu: ''TUHAN menyediakan''; sebab itu sampai sekarang dikatakan orang: ''Di atas gunung TUHAN, akan disediakan.''

15 Untuk kedua kalinya berserulah Malaikat TUHAN dari langit kepada Abraham,

16 kata-Nya: ''Aku bersumpah demi diri-Ku sendiri -- demikianlah firman TUHAN --: Karena engkau telah berbuat demikian, dan engkau tidak segan-segan untuk menyerahkan anakmu yang tunggal kepada-Ku,

17 maka Aku akan memberkati engkau berlimpah-limpah dan membuat keturunanmu sangat banyak seperti bintang di langit dan seperti pasir di tepi laut, dan keturunanmu itu akan menduduki kota-kota musuhnya.

18 Oleh keturunanmulah semua bangsa di bumi akan mendapat berkat, karena engkau mendengarkan firman-Ku.''

19 Kemudian kembalilah Abraham kepada kedua bujangnya, dan mereka bersama-sama berangkat ke Bersyeba; dan Abraham tinggal di Bersyeba.

20 Sesudah itu Abraham mendapat kabar: ''Juga Milka telah melahirkan anak-anak lelaki bagi Nahor, saudaramu:

21 Us, anak sulung, dan Bus, adiknya, dan Kemuel, ayah Aram,

22 juga Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Yidlaf dan Betuel.''

23 Dan Betuel memperanakkan Ribka. Kedelapan orang inilah dilahirkan Milka bagi Nahor, saudara Abraham itu.

24 Dan gundik Nahor, yang namanya Reuma, melahirkan anak juga, yakni Tebah, Gaham, Tahash dan Maakha.

وَافْتَقَدَ الرَّبُّ سَارَةَ كَمَا قَالَ وَفَعَلَ الرَّبُّ لِسَارَةَ كَمَا تَكَلَّمَ. فَحَبِلَتْ سَارَةُ وَوَلَدَتْ لابْرَاهِيمَ ابْنا فِي شَيْخُوخَتِهِ فِي الْوَقْتِ الَّذِي

تَكَلَّمَ اللهُ عَنْهُ. وَدَعَا ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْمَ ابْنِهِ الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ لَهُ سَارَةُ «اسْحَاقَ». وَخَتَنَ ابْرَاهِيمُ اسْحَاقَ ابْنَهُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ

ثَمَانِيَةِ ايَّامٍ كَمَا امَرَهُ اللهُ. وَكَانَ ابْرَاهِيمُ ابْنَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ حِينَ وُلِدَ لَهُ اسْحَاقُ ابْنُهُ. وَقَالَتْ سَارَةُ: «قَدْ صَنَعَ الَيَّ اللهُ ضِحْكا. كُلُّ

مَنْ يَسْمَعُ يَضْحَكُ لِي». وَقَالَتْ: «مَنْ قَالَ لابْرَاهِيمَ: سَارَةُ تُرْضِعُ بَنِينَ حَتَّى وَلَدْتُ ابْنا فِي شَيْخُوخَتِهِ!» فَكَبِرَ الْوَلَدُ وَفُطِمَ.

وَصَنَعَ ابْرَاهِيمُ وَلِيمَةً عَظِيمَةً يَوْمَ فِطَامِ اسْحَاقَ. وَرَاتْ سَارَةُ ابْنَ هَاجَرَ الْمِصْرِيَّةِ الَّذِي وَلَدَتْهُ لابْرَاهِيمَ يَمْزَحُ فَقَالَتْ

لابْرَاهِيمَ: «اطْرُدْ هَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةَ وَابْنَهَا لانَّ ابْنَ هَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةِ لا يَرِثُ مَعَ ابْنِي اسْحَاقَ». فَقَبُحَ الْكَلامُ جِدّا فِي عَيْنَيْ ابْرَاهِيمَ

لِسَبَبِ ابْنِهِ. فَقَالَ اللهُ لابْرَاهِيمَ: «لا يَقْبُحُ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ مِنْ اجْلِ الْغُلامِ وَمِنْ اجْلِ جَارِيَتِكَ. فِي كُلِّ مَا تَقُولُ لَكَ سَارَةُ اسْمَعْ

لِقَوْلِهَا لانَّهُ بِاسْحَاقَ يُدْعَى لَكَ نَسْلٌ. وَابْنُ الْجَارِيَةِ ايْضا سَاجْعَلُهُ امَّةً لانَّهُ نَسْلُكَ». فَبَكَّرَ ابْرَاهِيمُ صَبَاحا وَاخَذَ خُبْزا وَقِرْبَةَ

مَاءٍ وَاعْطَاهُمَا لِهَاجَرَ وَاضِعا ايَّاهُمَا عَلَى كَتِفِهَا وَالْوَلَدَ وَصَرَفَهَا. فَمَضَتْ وَتَاهَتْ فِي بَرِّيَّةِ بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ. وَلَمَّا فَرَغَ الْمَاءُ مِنَ

الْقِرْبَةِ طَرَحَتِ الْوَلَدَ تَحْتَ احْدَى الاشْجَارِ وَمَضَتْ وَجَلَسَتْ مُقَابِلَهُ بَعِيدا نَحْوَ رَمْيَةِ قَوْسٍ لانَّهَا قَالَتْ: «لا انْظُرُ مَوْتَ

الْوَلَدِ». فَجَلَسَتْ مُقَابِلَهُ وَرَفَعَتْ صَوْتَهَا وَبَكَتْ. فَسَمِعَ اللهُ صَوْتَ الْغُلامِ. وَنَادَى مَلاكُ اللهِ هَاجَرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَ لَهَا: «مَا

لَكِ يَا هَاجَرُ؟ لا تَخَافِي لانَّ اللهَ قَدْ سَمِعَ لِصَوْتِ الْغُلامِ حَيْثُ هُوَ. قُومِي احْمِلِي الْغُلامَ وَشُدِّي يَدَكِ بِهِ لانِّي سَاجْعَلُهُ امَّةً

عَظِيمَةً». وَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَيْنَيْهَا فَابْصَرَتْ بِئْرَ مَاءٍ فَذَهَبَتْ وَمَلَاتِ الْقِرْبَةَ مَاءً وَسَقَتِ الْغُلامَ. وَكَانَ اللهُ مَعَ الْغُلامِ فَكَبِرَ وَسَكَنَ

فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ وَكَانَ يَنْمُو رَامِيَ قَوْسٍ. وَسَكَنَ فِي بَرِّيَّةِ فَارَانَ. وَاخَذَتْ لَهُ امُّهُ زَوْجَةً مِنْ ارْضِ مِصْرَ. وَحَدَثَ فِي ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانِ

انَّ ابِيمَالِكَ وَفِيكُولَ رَئِيسَ جَيْشِهِ قَالا لابْرَاهِيمَ: «اللهُ مَعَكَ فِي كُلِّ مَا انْتَ صَانِعٌ. فَالْانَ احْلِفْ لِي بِاللهِ هَهُنَا انَّكَ لا تَغْدُرُ

بِي وَلا بِنَسْلِي وَذُرِّيَّتِي. كَالْمَعْرُوفِ الَّذِي صَنَعْتُ الَيْكَ تَصْنَعُ الَيَّ وَالَى الارْضِ الَّتِي تَغَرَّبْتَ فِيهَا». فَقَالَ ابْرَاهِيمُ: «انَا

احْلِفُ». وَعَاتَبَ ابْرَاهِيمُ ابِيمَالِكَ لِسَبَبِ بِئْرِ الْمَاءِ الَّتِي اغْتَصَبَهَا عَبِيدُ ابِيمَالِكَ. فَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ: «لَمْ اعْلَمْ مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا

الامْرَ. انْتَ لَمْ تُخْبِرْنِي وَلا انَا سَمِعْتُ سِوَى الْيَوْمِ». فَاخَذَ ابْرَاهِيمُ غَنَما وَبَقَرا وَاعْطَى ابِيمَالِكَ فَقَطَعَا كِلاهُمَا مِيثَاقا. وَاقَامَ

ابْرَاهِيمُ سَبْعَ نِعَاجٍ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ وَحْدَهَا. فَقَالَ ابِيمَالِكُ لابْرَاهِيمَ: «مَا هِيَ هَذِهِ السَّبْعُ النِّعَاجِ الَّتِي اقَمْتَهَا وَحْدَهَا؟» فَقَالَ: «انَّكَ

سَبْعَ نِعَاجٍ تَاخُذُ مِنْ يَدِي لِكَيْ تَكُونَ لِي شَهَادَةً بِانِّي حَفَرْتُ هَذِهِ الْبِئْرَ». لِذَلِكَ دَعَا ذَلِكَ الْمَوْضِعَ بِئْرَ سَبْعٍ. لانَّهُمَا هُنَاكَ

حَلَفَا كِلاهُمَا. فَقَطَعَا مِيثَاقا فِي بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ. ثُمَّ قَامَ ابِيمَالِكُ وَفِيكُولُ رَئِيسُ جَيْشِهِ وَرَجَعَا الَى ارْضِ الْفَلَسْطِينِيِّينَ. وَغَرَسَ

ابْرَاهِيمُ اثْلا فِي بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ وَدَعَا هُنَاكَ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ «الالَهِ السَّرْمَدِيِّ». وَتَغَرَّبَ ابْرَاهِيمُ فِي ارْضِ الْفَلَسْطِينِيِّينَ ايَّاما كَثِيرَةً.

Genesis 21

And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him--whom Sarah bore to him--Isaac. Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. And Sarah said, "God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me." She also said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age." So the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the same day that Isaac was weaned.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. Therefore she said to Abraham, "Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac." And the matter was very displeasing in Abraham's sight because of his son. But God said to Abraham, "Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called. Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman, because he is your seed."

So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba. And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs. Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, "Let me not see the death of the boy." So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept. And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation." Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink. So God was with the lad; and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech and Phichol, the commander of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do. Now therefore, swear to me by God that you will not deal falsely with me, with my offspring, or with my posterity; but that according to the kindness that I have done to you, you will do to me and to the land in which you have dwelt." And Abraham said, "I will swear." Then Abraham rebuked Abimelech because of a well of water which Abimelech's servants had seized. And Abimelech said, "I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, nor had I heard of it until today." So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made a covenant. And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. Then Abimelech asked Abraham, "What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves?" And he said, "You will take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that they may be my witness that I have dug this well." Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because the two of them swore an oath there. Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba. So Abimelech rose with Phichol, the commander of his army, and they returned to the land of the Philistines.

Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God. And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines many days.

Kejadian 21

1 TUHAN memperhatikan Sara, seperti yang difirmankan-Nya, dan TUHAN melakukan kepada Sara seperti yang dijanjikan-Nya.

2 Maka mengandunglah Sara, lalu ia melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki bagi Abraham dalam masa tuanya, pada waktu yang telah ditetapkan, sesuai dengan firman Allah kepadanya.

3 Abraham menamai anaknya yang baru lahir itu Ishak, yang dilahirkan Sara baginya.

4 Kemudian Abraham menyunat Ishak, anaknya itu, ketika berumur delapan hari, seperti yang diperintahkan Allah kepadanya.

5 Adapun Abraham berumur seratus tahun, ketika Ishak, anaknya, lahir baginya.

6 Berkatalah Sara: ''Allah telah membuat aku tertawa; setiap orang yang mendengarnya akan tertawa karena aku.''

7 Lagi katanya: ''Siapakah tadinya yang dapat mengatakan kepada Abraham: Sara menyusui anak? Namun aku telah melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki baginya pada masa tuanya.''

8 Bertambah besarlah anak itu dan ia disapih, lalu Abraham mengadakan perjamuan besar pada hari Ishak disapih itu.

9 Pada waktu itu Sara melihat, bahwa anak yang dilahirkan Hagar, perempuan Mesir itu bagi Abraham, sedang main dengan Ishak, anaknya sendiri.

10 Berkatalah Sara kepada Abraham: ''Usirlah hamba perempuan itu beserta anaknya, sebab anak hamba ini tidak akan menjadi ahli waris bersama-sama dengan anakku Ishak.''

11 Hal ini sangat menyebalkan Abraham oleh karena anaknya itu.

12 Tetapi Allah berfirman kepada Abraham: ''Janganlah sebal hatimu karena hal anak dan budakmu itu; dalam segala yang dikatakan Sara kepadamu, haruslah engkau mendengarkannya, sebab yang akan disebut keturunanmu ialah yang berasal dari Ishak.

13 Tetapi keturunan dari hambamu itu juga akan Kubuat menjadi suatu bangsa, karena ia pun anakmu.''

14 Keesokan harinya pagi-pagi Abraham mengambil roti serta sekirbat air dan memberikannya kepada Hagar. Ia meletakkan itu beserta anaknya di atas bahu Hagar, kemudian disuruhnyalah perempuan itu pergi. Maka pergilah Hagar dan mengembara di padang gurun Bersyeba.

15 Ketika air yang dikirbat itu habis, dibuangnyalah anak itu ke bawah semak-semak,

16 dan ia duduk agak jauh, kira-kira sepemanah jauhnya, sebab katanya: ''Tidak tahan aku melihat anak itu mati.'' Sedang ia duduk di situ, menangislah ia dengan suara nyaring.

17 Allah mendengar suara anak itu, lalu Malaikat Allah berseru dari langit kepada Hagar, kata-Nya kepadanya: ''Apakah yang engkau susahkan, Hagar? Janganlah takut, sebab Allah telah mendengar suara anak itu dari tempat ia terbaring.

18 Bangunlah, angkatlah anak itu, dan bimbinglah dia, sebab Aku akan membuat dia menjadi bangsa yang besar.''

19 Lalu Allah membuka mata Hagar, sehingga ia melihat sebuah sumur; ia pergi mengisi kirbatnya dengan air, kemudian diberinya anak itu minum.

20 Allah menyertai anak itu, sehingga ia bertambah besar; ia menetap di padang gurun dan menjadi seorang pemanah.

21 Maka tinggallah ia di padang gurun Paran, dan ibunya mengambil seorang isteri baginya dari tanah Mesir.

22 Pada waktu itu Abimelekh, beserta Pikhol, panglima tentaranya, berkata kepada Abraham: ''Allah menyertai engkau dalam segala sesuatu yang engkau lakukan.

23 Oleh sebab itu, bersumpahlah kepadaku di sini demi Allah, bahwa engkau tidak akan berlaku curang kepadaku, atau kepada anak-anakku, atau kepada cucu cicitku; sesuai dengan persahabatan yang kulakukan kepadamu, demikianlah harus engkau berlaku kepadaku dan kepada negeri yang kautinggali sebagai orang asing.''

24 Lalu kata Abraham: ''Aku bersumpah!''

25 Tetapi Abraham menyesali Abimelekh tentang sebuah sumur yang telah dirampas oleh hamba-hamba Abimelekh.

26 Jawab Abimelekh: ''Aku tidak tahu, siapa yang melakukan hal itu; lagi tidak kauberitahukan kepadaku, dan sampai hari ini belum pula kudengar.''

27 Lalu Abraham mengambil domba dan lembu dan memberikan semuanya itu kepada Abimelekh, kemudian kedua orang itu mengadakan perjanjian.

28 Tetapi Abraham memisahkan tujuh anak domba betina dari domba-domba itu.

29 Lalu kata Abimelekh kepada Abraham: ''Untuk apakah ketujuh anak domba yang kaupisahkan ini?''

30 Jawabnya: ''Ketujuh anak domba ini harus kauterima dari tanganku untuk menjadi tanda bukti bagiku, bahwa akulah yang menggali sumur ini.''

31 Sebab itu orang menyebutkan tempat itu Bersyeba, karena kedua orang itu telah bersumpah di sana.

32 Setelah mereka mengadakan perjanjian di Bersyeba, pulanglah Abimelekh beserta Pikhol, panglima tentaranya, ke negeri orang Filistin.

33 Lalu Abraham menanam sebatang pohon tamariska di Bersyeba, dan memanggil di sana
nama TUHAN, Allah yang kekal.

34 Dan masih lama Abraham tinggal sebagai orang asing di negeri orang Filistin.
